IMPORTANT This Hotfix can be deployed only on McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for Linux (Build 28822) client systems. PURPOSE This hotfix extends McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for Linux support to the following operating system (Desktop/Server): - Ubuntu LTS (Precise Pangolin) NOTE: Refer the "RKMS Support for 3.5 Kernels" section for RKMS changes in 3.5 kernel. RESOLVED ISSUES 1. ISSUE: On CIFS share drives that are mounted on Red Hat, the "ls" command fails to list files that are created in the current session. RESOLUTION: After applying this hotfix, the "ls" command lists files that are created in the current session. 2. ISSUE: In Suse Linux, Kernel modules fail to enable on-access scanning on xen type of Kernels. Additionally there was a start-up conflict between novfsd and nails services. RESOLUTION: After applying this hotfix, Kernel modules enable on-access scanning on xen type of Kernels in Suse Linux. The start-up order has been modified to resolve the problem. The modules should be built with RKMS.

3 SUPPORT RESTRICTIONS - No support for NFS 4.0 client On client systems with NFS 4.0 client as default, you can execute the following command to use NFS version 3.0 as a workaround: mount -t nfs -o nfsvers=3 <NFS_Path> <Mount_point> - B-tree file system (BTRFS) - BTRFS is supported only for local file system. - No support for systems with the root file system installed on BTRFS file system. - No support for mounted remote BTRFS partitions. FILES INCLUDED WITH THIS RELEASE This Hotfix comprises a single compressed archive file McAfeeVSEForLinux HF release.tar.gz which contains the following files: McAfeeVSEForLinux HF EPO.zip = Hotfix package that can be deployed from the epolicy Orchestrator server. McAfeeVSEForLinux HF tar.gz = Hotfix package that can be installed manually on standalone systems and contain the following files: setuphf = Installer script. Readme-HF txt = This text file. kernel-module-source.tar.gz = Source file. McAfeeVSEForLinux noarch-payload.tar = Binaries built for 32-bit and 64-bit computers. INSTALLATION INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS To use this hotfix, you must have McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for Linux software version installed

4 on the computer you intend to update. This hotfix will not work with any earlier versions of the software. STANDALONE INSTALLATION 1. Download "McAfeeVSEForLinux HF zip" to a temporary directory, then execute the following commands in this sequence: # unzip McAfeeVSEForLinux HF zip # cd McAfeeVSEForLinux HF # tar -zxvf McAfeeVSEForLinux HF release.tar.gz # tar -zxvf McAfeeVSEForLinux HF tar.gz # bash setuphf 2. After successful installation, restart the computer using the reboot command. INSTALLATION THROUGH EPOLICY ORCHESTRATOR 1. Download and unzip "McAfeeVSEForLinux HF zip" to a temporary directory. 2. From the extracted folder "McAfeeVSEForLinux HF872066", unzip the file "McAfeeVSEForLinux HF release.tar.gz". 3. Log onto epolicy Orchestrator, then click Menu Software Master Repository. 4. Click Actions Check In Package. The Package page appears. 5. From Package type, select "Product or Update (.ZIP). 6. From File path, click Browse and select the file "McAfeeVSEForLinux HF EPO.zip". 7. Click Open, then click Next. The Package Options page appears. 8. Select the appropriate branch, then click Save. 9. Create an Update task and deploy this hotfix package. 10. After successful installation, restart the client computer (Linux system) using the reboot command. REMOVING THIS HOTFIX To remove this Hotfix and revert to the original setup,

5 you must reinstall the McAfee(R) VirusScan Enterprise for Linux version software. RKMS SUPPORT for 3.5.x KERNELS You must install & extract the kernel source along with the Kernel Development/Header packages mentioned in the product's Installation guide. Kernel Headers needs to be installed based on running kernel version. The kernel sources should be extracted into /usr/src folder.
