3 1 Introduction 1.1 Purpose This document provides instructions and guidelines for the installation of the 527F Dual PC option as a replacement for the 32MP made by Fadal. The installer may be required to use discretion and modify the methodology used in this manual to achieve the results required for successful operation of the PC All safety precautions must be observed and it is highly recommended that the installation only be performed by qualified personnel. 1.2 Scope This document is intended to assist the installer with the steps required to replace a 32MP made by Fadal with the 527F Dual PC controller. All components and cable assemblies have been tested and are ready for installation. This field upgrade should take approximately 2-hours to complete. 1.3 General The upgrade installation consists of the following major components: Power Supply PC Card Cage SSD Disk Drive DVD reader/writer Mouse 2 Installation It is highly recommended that that an entire system back up be created prior to installation. Required software applications should on the existing PC must be backed up for future use. This includes user files such as NC data, communication software and others that are critical to the operation of the machine

4 It will be necessary to cut wire tie wraps in order to free items from the cabinet. Once the replacement items have been installed, new tie wraps will be required in order to keep wire harnesses from damaging other components or being damaged themselves. 2.1 Power Supply Installation NOTE: Ensure machine power is turned off and disconnected from the main power source before proceeding. NOTE: Because of a Windows-7 incompatibility, the front panel keyboard switch must be in the 'DOS' position prior to powering on, and the green power button must be pressed within 2-seconds after applying power to the machine Power Supply Removal Removing the old power supply will require cutting wire tie wraps where necessary to free the old power supply leads. This will allow the existing power supply to be easily removed from the cabinet. the four power supply mounting screws underneath the monitor shelf the 6-32 fastening nut from cabinet wall and remove the green power supply wire quick disconnect connector Push the spring cage on J11-5 and remove the black power supply wire Push the spring cage on J11-9 and remove the white power supply wire Disconnect AC power cord from power supply and remove power supply from cabinet Power Supply Installation Follow the steps below to install the new power supply and secure with mounting screws. Place the new power supply on the monitor shelf Install the green power supply wire quick disconnect connector to the cabinet wall and fasten tightly with a 6-32 nut Push the spring cage on J11-5 and insert the black power supply wire Push the spring cage on J11-9 and insert the white power supply wire - 4 -

7 2.2 PC Card Cage Installation Card Cage Removal Removing the old card cage requires cutting wire tie wraps where necessary to free the card cage leads so it can be removed from the rear cabinet door. Disconnect RS422 cable from existing card cage Disconnect RS232 cable from existing card cage Disconnect parallel cable from existing card cage Disconnect video cable from existing card cage Disconnect keyboard cable from existing card cage Disconnect mouse cable from existing card cage Disconnect Floppy Disk Drive cable from existing card cage Floppy Disk Drive cable from cabinet - 7 -

Place SSD and DVD assembly in front panel cut out Fasten SSD and DVD assembly to front panel using 4-40 screws
