Grain management part 1. Selling the effect with environmental effects. Re-using the tracking data for matchmoves.
Overall Project: Extend a location using a matte painting. The camera movement is a tilt upwards and must be smoothed to remove the bounciness. Part 0 - Introduction (2:06 min) Seeing the scope of the exercise. Doubling the height of a factory. Removing a distracting sign. Minimizing the bounce in the camera move. Part 1 (11:54 min) Finding a good place to track for stabilization. Working in the Stabilize Module. Smoothing vs. Stabilization. Improving a camera move with the Frame List. Taking out Stabilization data to After Effects. Removing stabilization borders - method 1. Part 2 (20:46 min) mocha s Stabilize Module pt2. Removing stabilization borders - method 2. mocha s AutoFill to create stabilization without scaling. Creating the best type of tracking and shape data for AutoFill. Solving potential problems with AutoFill results. Part 3 (22:27 min) Exercise 2 - Set Extensions Matte Painting in Photoshop for the set extension. Different techniques to extend buildings. Removing objects in perspective on a single frame.
Exercise 2 - Set Extensions Overall Project: Extend a location using a matte painting. The camera movement is a tilt upwards and must be smoothed to remove the bounciness. Part 4 (24:42 min) Adding the matte painting to the original footage. Matchmoving the matte painting. Problems with nodal camera moves and simple motion tracking. Minimizing the bounce in the camera move. Fixing the track. Integrating the set extension. Tracking for the sign removal. Integrating the new elements - color correction. Adding environment effects. Smart use of mocha tracks. Part 5 (13:26 min) Cleaning up the sign removal. Quick ways of cleaning background areas. More grain management. Finishing the effect.
Exercise 3 - Advanced Remove Overall Project: Remove a large object that is traveling through the shot. Be aware that the object covers many different planes and background areas. A 3D camera solve is also required. Part 0 - Introduction (2:56 min) See the before/after for the cleanup. Removing a sign that obscures a large area of the screen with a moving camera. Create a 3D tracked camera to add environmental and text effects. Checking out the different stages required in this clean-up. Part 1 (29:27 min) Tracking the ground plane on a trucking camera shot. Identifying the different planes we will need to track for our first remove stage. Adding track mattes for tracking and remove. Testing the tracks. Fixing inaccurate tracks with AdjustTrack. When to fix and when to trash your work. Unlink tracking - to track tough camera moves. Final preparations for the Remove Module. Part 2 (24:02 min) Working with the Remove Module. Simple set-ups for Remove. Testing the settings and improving results. Compensating for objects and areas moving in perspective. Reducing artefacting and problems with render. Balancing render speed and quality.
Part 3 (11:56 min) Exercise 3 - Advanced Remove Reviewing the results from the first round of mocha Pro Remove. Offsetting track data to create accurate Surface data for Corner Pin. Export the correct corner pin data type for our Stabilize/Destabilize workflow. Part 4 (15:54 min) Using the Stabilize/Destabilize workflow in After Effects to fix problem areas. Working with other corner pin plug-in filters. Speeding the workflow with mochaimport+. Quickly identify and repair complex problems in our Remove work-in-progress, with simple masks and offsets. Part 5 (13:37 min) Sky replacements. Improving the source image in mocha before tracking. Creating a quick hold-in mask from existing track data. How to import the data into After Effects to create a fast and accurate sky replacement. Fixing shape layers in mocha. Final tweaks for the effect in After Effects. Balancing render speed and quality.
Part 6 (25:54 min) Exercise 3 - Advanced Remove Remove Round 2. Refining our track areas to create a more accurate result in the Remove Module. Offsetting our wall track to another area of the footage. Tweaking the data with AdjustTrack. See a new tracking technique to track the underside of the bridge. Set up layer order for Remove Round 2. How to use the Merge Projects feature to re-use elements from other projects. Compare the results of doing Remove in two passes versus one pass. Part 7 (17:17 min) Filling in the bridge area. Review of Remove Round 2. More stabilization/destabilization to fix artefacts. Review the improvements made between the three work-in-progress. Paint and cloning to fix stubborn areas. Using and mixing multiple masks to fix different sections. Feather complex effects with adjustment layers.
