1 Let's stand for our Daily Affirmations Today is a good day! I will LET Go of the past that I do not need and CREATE the future that I want. I believe in myself and my abilities. I will persist until I succeed. I say positive things about myself to myself. I can learn anything. I can know anything. I can be anything. I find joy in the journey. 6 temp.notebook October 25, 2017 TOOLKIT: TOOLKIT: Triangle Congruence Flip Book Tips for Writing Congruence GIVEN: Could be in list, a sentence, or a diagram. PROVE: Typically three options = Triangles are congruent ~ = Corresponding parts (angles or side lengths) are congruent ~ Lines are parallel STATEMENT REASON 1. typically begin by stating the given information 1. Given The body of the proof must include the 3 congruent parts and lead to the congruence theorem that you're using: ~ ASA ~ SAA SSS ~ SAS ~ HL ~ Your final statement must be exactly the same as what you're asked to prove in the prompt. If proving that triangles are congruent, then your last statement is a congruence statement ASA ~ ~ Thm SAS = SAA ~ HL ~ SSS ~ If proving that Prove that corresponding parts are congruent, then your last statement is a congurence NOTE: You must have shown that the triangles statement. are congruent first, then you can use this reason! CPCTC (Corresponding Parts of Congruent or Triangles are Congruent) If proving that lines are parallel, then your last statement is a parallel lines statement. If... { Pick the reason that fits the proof...corresponding angles are congruent......alternate interior angles are congruent......alternate exterior angles are congruent......same side interior angles are supplementary......same side exterior angles are supplementary......then the two lines cut by the transversal are parallel.
7 TOOLKIT: Triangle Centers Circumcenter (perpendicular bisectors) center of a circle circumscribed around the triangle (touches all 3 vertices) equidistant from each vertex (radius of circumscribed circle) on midpoint of hypotenuse: right triangle inside triangle: acute triangle outside triangle: obtuse triangle Incenter (angle bisectors) center of a circle inscribed inside the triangle (touches all 3 sides) equidistant from each side (radius of inscribed circle) Centroid (medians) center of gravity (balancing point) centroid cuts every median 2:1 a single median cuts the triangle into two equal areas Orthocenter (altitudes) on vertex: it's a right angle = right triangle inside triangle: acute triangle outside triangle: obtuse triangle
