2 Asta Powerproject BIM Key Features Asta Powerproject BIM enables you to combine 3D models with scheduling tools. This document highlights some of the key features. Federate IFC models and overlay them to work with them concurrently You can link related IFC models together, using IFC group model objects. This will allow you to federate models enabling you to work with all IFC models together at the same time. If you link a number of related IFC models together, you can open them all at the same time by opening the IFC group model and they appear at the same time, overlaid, in the IFC Model pane and in the IFC Comparison Model pane.

3 Display an alternative view of an IFC model in the IFC Comparison Model pane Asta Powerproject BIM has an IFC Comparison Model pane, which you can use to display an alternative view of the IFC model that is currently displayed in the IFC Model pane. This pane, which you can access using the IFC Model pane drop-down in the 3D Viewer group of the BIM Ribbon tab, appears initially using the same viewpoint as that of the IFC Model pane, but you can then navigate around the IFC model in both panes independently. This means that you can run two timeline simulations of an IFC model at the same time one in the IFC Model pane and another in the IFC Comparison Model pane. You can configure one timeline simulation to run using dates from the live data and the other to run using dates from a baseline. This shows you graphically how a project is progressing in comparison with the plans in the baseline. Create fly pasts for use in timeline simulations You can create fly pasts, which control the movement of the camera during timeline simulations. A fly past consists of a series of viewpoints fly past points which are each applied at a particular point in time during a timeline simulation, such as start or completion of a certain tasks. For example, you could configure a fly past to start with the camera pointing at the front of a building, then move to particular areas of the building that are being constructed at different points in time, showing these areas in greater detail.

4 Create videos of timeline simulations and fly pasts You can export animation to record videos of timeline simulations, for distribution to people who do not have access to an Asta Powerproject BIM licence. If a fly past is selected when you record a video, the video will record the different viewpoints of the fly past accurately. Asta Powerproject BIM records videos in AVI format and you can add key information into the video such as the date and task being performed. Control timeline simulations more easily using the Timeline Controls pane You can use a dockable Timeline Controls pane, which you can use to run timeline simulations. This pane, which you can access using the IFC Model pane drop-down in the 3D Viewer group of the BIM Ribbon tab, duplicates most of the controls in the Timeline group on the BIM tab. Because the Timeline Controls pane is dockable, you can position it wherever you want. This makes it easier to control timeline simulations, particularly if you work with more than one monitor and display your timeline simulations in panes that float above and are positioned away from the Asta Powerproject window.

5 Highlight items that are on the critical path in timeline simulations You can also highlight items that are behind or ahead of their dates, either in the live data or in a baseline. You can configure timeline simulations to highlight items that appear on the critical path, either in the live data or in a baseline. Enhanced Splitting Options including split at intersection You can split elements of the IFC model by percentages, to allow the planner to sub-divide items within the 3D model, plus use additional splitting options including the ability to create a split based on spaces or storey levels within the model, or at intersections with other parts. Therefore, it is possible to split, for example, a lift shaft at the point that shaft adjourns the various floor slabs that are within the model. Include only objects in an IFC model that have been associated with a task in the current view in timeline simulations It is possible to configure timeline simulations to include only objects in an IFC model that have been associated with a task in the current view. If you do this, any objects that have been associated with tasks in the current view that do not match the current view s filter are excluded. This enables you to create animations based on filters such as code library or resource allocation or only those grouped into a particular summary or expanded task.

6 Edit the properties of objects in an IFC model You can view the properties of objects in IFC models using the IFC Properties pane. Some of these properties Name, Description, Location properties and Build Order are editable via the IFC Properties pane. The display of information in the IFC Properties pane has been improved in this release: properties appear in groups, which you can expand and contract. Annotate objects in an IFC model with custom properties You can annotate objects in IFC models with custom properties. You do this by defining one or more user-defined fields for an IFC model, then recording information in the user-defined fields for each object in the IFC model, using the IFC Properties pane. If you record custom information against objects in an IFC model, you can then create IFC product searches that are based on this custom information. Manage revisions of IFC files that are stored locally You can work with multiple revisions of local IFC files at the same time and work fully with multiple revisions of local IFC files, using the Manage Revisions dialog.
