Based in Brisbane at the University o Queensland he is actively involved in choral music as both a comoser and a chorister. Joseh is the reciient o the Australian Voices Young Comoser Award and the Chanticleer Student Comoser Cometition or 003. His choral music has been erormed by The Australian Voices The Brisbane Chamber Choir The National Youth Choir o Australia and Chanticleer. On The Night Train sets the scene o a train dashing through the Australian bush at dusk as described by Henry Lawson s graceul oetry. The emtiness o the Australian outback is reresented by long sustained itches in the oening and closing sections o the work above which a simle olklike melody is sung. This melody is also used throughout a rhythmic contrasting section where the singers create the imression o a moving train with scatlike nonsense syllables and whisered vocal eects.
