1 FAQ What is the practicum? The Citrix practicum provides partners the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge in one of the solution competency areas by simulating a Citrix engagement. Participants will be provided a lab using Citrix technologies, in which they will build an environment according to the requirements outlined in a mock Statement of Work (SOW). Each participant will receive four-days to build a solution, which meets the business and user needs outlined in order to validate their skills in a meaningful way. After the time has elapsed, lab access will be discontinued and Citrix will grade the environment build to verify that it meets the requirements. s will be sent to notify participants if they have passed or failed. (Note: The SOW will be the only source of guidance as to what participants should build.) The practicum is not a certification but rather one of the requirements for partners who are interested in completing a Citrix Specialist track. As such, this opportunity is only open to partners. What is a Citrix Specialist track? The Citrix Specialist Track qualifies and rewards partners for demonstrated technical competency, endto-end sales capability and service delivery expertise in key technology categories. For more detail information on Citrix Specialist Tracks visit Partner Central: Who is eligible to take a Practicum? Any individual in a partner s organization is eligible to take the Practicum exam given they have fulfilled the certification requirement associated to the Specialist competency. As an example, the Networking for Apps & Mobility Security Specialist competency requires the individual to have their Citrix Certified Associate - Networking ( CCA-N ) certification prior to scheduling the Practicum exam. An individual holding a Citrix Certified Professional - Networking ( CCP-N ) certification may not take the Practicum exam as the CCP-N is not the required certification for the Networking for Apps & Mobility Security Specialist competency. 2 SKU SKU Description Virtualization Citrix Specialist Practicum Voucher - Expires after 12 months Networking Citrix Specialist Practicum Voucher - Expires after 12 months Mobility Citrix Specialist Practicum Voucher - Expires after 12 months These SKUs must be used when purchasing a voucher code. This is the first step outlined in the Registration Process noted on the Citrix Specialization Practicum page. Please note: There is only one SKU allocated to the Networking offerings. This SKU can be used to purchase a voucher code for either of the Networking practicums based on the partner s choice. How long will I have to complete the assignment? You will have a total of four-days to complete the practicum. Based on feedback from those that have taken the practicum, we have seen that it takes on average 8 to 12 hours to complete. However, additional time is allotted, as we understand that you will need to balance completing the exam with your daily responsibilities. How is the Practicum graded? After the exam period, each exam environment is reviewed by a subject matter expert (SME) to verify the exam requirements were met and a functioning environment was deployed. The practicum will be graded in a pass or fail fashion, such that 100% of the objectives in the SOW must be completed to pass the practicum. Anything less than 100% will be graded as a fail. This scoring approach was implemented in order to accurately recreate the experience of executing a SOW for a customer. Similar to a customer engagement, the idea of partial credit does not exist as a client expects all requirements outlined in a given SOW to be fulfilled. Grading begins at the end of the allocated time for the Practicum and takes up to 15 business days to reflect in the participant s i7 account. What are the system requirements for the exam? Each tester is provided an isolated XenServer 6.5 SP1 server to deploy the exam environment. In order to gain access to the exam lab environment, access your My Training on training.citrix.com. Citrix Receiver should be installed on the Practicum exam taker s endpoint. Once launched, a landing virtual machine called STUDENTDESKTOP will be accessed remotely through a direct ICA connection, and will open using Citrix Receiver.

3 Once connected, the user will gain access to the tools required to complete the exam, including: Citrix XenCenter - The XenServer hypervisor console can be used to visualize and connect gain access all virtual machines in the lab. Users gain access to their host by right clicking XenCenter on the top left pane, and adding the host, by entering the provided XenServer Public IP address. The username and password will be provided. Once connected, users will be able to see which VMs are available to them. Remote Desktop Connection Manager - Alternatively, a tester can RDP into their virtual machines, using the IP addresses provided in the Virtual Machine Inventory table found below. Remote Desktop Connection Manager can also be leveraged to facilitate the process, since the machines have already been added to the console. Networking tools (WinSCP, PuTTy, and WireShark) - Networking tools are also available on STUDENTDESKTOP, to help with the troubleshooting process. Citrix Receiver Receiver can be used to test the Citrix environment configured during the exam. What skills do I need to know to take the exam? Virtualization Versions tested: NetScaler 11 and XenDesktop 7.6 FP3 o Execute installation and configuration of the XenDesktop, XenApp, StoreFront, and Provisioning Services. o Understands the communication flow between components, such that, can configure the associated components of storage, monitoring, networking and printing to desired business needs as well as security requirements. o Working knowledge of capture process for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 R2 image to be deployed using Provisioning Services.

4 o o o Has a basic understanding of Citrix policies as well as related Active Directory policies and how to filter to apply to the appropriate groups. Knowledge of how to assign application and desktop resources to specific users. Basic knowledge of how to configure Citrix Profile Manager and associated user profile infrastructure. Mobility Management Versions tested: NetScaler 11 and XenMobile 10 o Execute configuration and integration of the components for a XenMobile Enterprise Solution. o Understands the communication flow between components in a XenMobile deployment (including XenMobile Server, ShareFile, StoreFront, and NetScaler Gateway) and, as such, can determine the best placement of and deployment option for those components. o Solid knowledge of how to configure enrollment options (including APNS, 3 rd Party application stores). o Aptitude of how to configure Citrix policies and mobile application wrapping for ios and Android devices. o Skilled on SSL certificates and certificate authority process. Networking for Apps & Mobile Security Versions tested: NetScaler 11 and XenDesktop 7.6 FP3 o Execute configuration of the NetScaler VPX and MPX systems with default settings. o Grasp of L4-L7 stack and basic networking operations. o Solid knowledge of HTTP, SSL and general networking/routing concepts. o Basic knowledge of how to monitor network-related activities and performance. o Ability to install SSL certificates, modify existing monitors, bind services/service groups to virtual servers, configure policies such as ICA Proxy, SmartAccess, maximum authentication, load balance Domain Controller servers and gateway mode. o Has basic knowledge of compliance and security standards with basic knowledge of NetScaler Gateway. Networking for Data Center Version tested: NetScaler 11 and XenDesktop 7.6 FP3 o Execute configuration of the NetScaler system with default settings. o Grasp of L1-L7 stack and advanced networking operations. o Solid knowledge of HTTP, SSL and understanding of how to customize traffic-handling. o Basic knowledge of how to monitor network-related activities and performance. o Ability to configure SSL Offloading, application optimization, manage high-availability features and configure policies such as SmartAccess as well as security modules. o Basic knowledge of cloud computing concepts. What languages are the practicums offered in? The practicum is only available in English.

5 What is the cost of the exam? The practicum costs $ USD. Please note that there are no refunds, and if a participant fails they must pay to retake the practicum again. Please note that if Citrix finds that a practicum participant has in any way compromised the integrity of this practicum exam that participant s partner organization may lose all of the benefits associated with the Citrix Specialist Program. For more information, please see the section below on Citrix Practicum Terms and Conditions. Does successful completion of practicum provide the participant with a certification? It does not provide the participant with a certification, but it does provide a certificate of completion. Passing the practicum satisfies one of the requirements for partners to become eligible for the Citrix Specialist Program. Please note that, similar to when passing a Citrix exam, passing the practicum is indicative of that individual s skills and thus that mark of completion is tied to the individual, not to the partner organization. Who should I contact if I do not receive the online student enrollment , access to the lab environment via MyTraining, the containing results, or any other issues related to the Practicum? The exam and all information included under the Practicum, including the sample Statement of Work, are confidential and/or proprietary information of Citrix ( Practicum Material ). The Practicum Material is provided solely to you for the purpose of you taking the Practicum. In no event may the Practicum Materials be used for any other purpose. In no event may the Practicum Material be saved on any of your systems, printed, copied, or disseminated (as a whole or in portions) to any other party. If Citrix becomes aware of any violation of these Terms of Use, Citrix may immediately terminate

6 your participation in the Practicum, and access to the Practicum Materials. Any violation of the Terms of Use may prevent you from being admitted to the Specialist Program, and may affect your current or any future membership in other Citrix partner programs.
