7 Deploy VMware Horizon View New fling: Horizon View Configuration Tool The vct ships as a virtual appliance with all the required VMware components to set up your Horizon View environment. After providing a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 ISO, an ESX host (not managed by vcenter), a few parameters, and licenses, the tool will provision your environment dynamically and automatically. The vct deploys the following components: Virtual machine with Active Directory Domain Controller configured (or you may integrate with the existing DC in your environment) Virtual machine with Horizon View Connection Server installed Virtual machine with Horizon View Composer installed vcenter Server Appliance virtual machine deployed and configured 7

Users have access to Horizon Data, their web and SaaS applications via the original Horizon App Manager, and their desktops via Horizon View. Horizon Data exists as its own "all-or-nothing" silo. No Integrated Networking or WAN Optimization - Functionality gaps in Horizon View require significant investment in 3rd party products which increases cost and complexity Limited Hosted Shared Desktop support - Horizon View only supports session based desktops via RDP (RDS/TS Farms) No Client Side Rendering - Despite improvements to PCoIP. If flash video playback is a requirement, Horizon View can not scale like XenDesktop No Personal vdisk - Only XenDesktop offers pooled VDI with complete personalization, resulting in better user-acceptance and significant storage cost saving over dedicated desktops Remote Access Remote Access for VMware View via PCoIP is on non standard port (4172) 40
