The wide input voltage window enables the B400 to handle brownouts, over-voltages and unsteady mains without switching to batteries thereby extending battery service life. The B400 is genuinely "plug & play" and is delivered ready for immediate use, the product includes a free download of intelligent, user friendly monitoring and shut-down software with USB connection. 6 BORRI B500 EVO Incorporating Borri s On-line Double Conversion Technology, the new B500 6kVA and 10kVA and B500 EVO 10kVA and 20kVA series are extremely low maintenance and have been designed as a true easy parallel UPS solution. On-line Double Conversion The B500 range was developed around the highest level of protection (On-line Double Conversion), this means that the output is VFI (Voltage & Frequency Independent) allowing the critical load power to be constantly maintained by the UPS inverter, this in turn means the load does not see any mains borne interferences and delivers a zero-break transition from utility power to battery. More Power / Smaller Footprint Ideal for all critical IT Environments where space is at a premium. The tower based UPS delivers up to 25% more usable power than other manufacturers thanks to a 0.9 Output Power Factor. The B500 also comes complete with internal batteries as standard, throughout the range, eliminating the need for external battery cabinets on standard run times, minimising the footprint and therefore maximising floor space for other equipment. Highest Protection The B500 includes a static and internal manual bypass switch as standard, with zero transfer time between inverter and bypass. The wide input voltage window reduces the amount of time spent on switching to or running on battery power, thereby increasing battery service life, UPS efficiency and reliability. A powerful internal charger enables backup times of up to 8 hours with a 6 hour recover time. Frequency Converter All of the B500 range can be used as a frequency converter. External Battery Connector Input Breaker Switch, with dual input standard on EVO B500 EVO Features The 10kVA & 20kVA B500 EVO can have either a three phase or single phase input applied to the UPS, the decision doesn't have to be made until the point of installation and can then be changed should, an electrical supply need to be upgraded or electrical loads have to be balanced. The batteries can also be replaced with only front access meaning other equipment can be located directly adjacent to the UPS. 2

The innovative design of the Borri B8000FXS makes it one of the most technologically advanced UPS of its kind. 11 As the AC input is always converted to DC and then converted back to AC, the double conversion process provides complete electrical isolation of the output from the input, in fact unless the inverter is switched off the critical load will never see the raw mains power. Online Double Conversion Ultimate protection for all loads from computer rooms and small datacentres to industrial applications, the B8000FXS incorporates Online Double Conversion or VFI (Voltage and Frequency Independent) topology. In online double conversion mode the output voltage and frequency are constantly generated by the inverter and so are isolated from any input power disturbances, spikes, dips or outages. For maximum protection, the batteries are positioned in the conversion circuit to ensure there is no break or switching should the need arise for them to power the load. This technology allows for an extremely wide range of input voltage and frequency, whilst enabling the UPS to control perfect output conditions without having to use battery power. Enhanced Compatibility with Mains & Generators The B8000 FXS uses an IGBT input rectifier design, encompassing an advanced PFC (Power Factor Correction), which maintains input current THDi (Total Harmonic Distortion of the input) at a level of less than 3% and an input power factor within 1% of unity, even when only small loads are applied. Historically this has resulted in poor operating efficiency, however, investment at component level in the design of B8000 FXS means that the FXS range, can perform with overall efficiency levels of greater than 95% through mid-range loadings. 13 Parallel Offering parallel options for redundancy or capacity modes, the B8000 FXS can add future resilience or scalable growth. Up to 8 units can be connected in parallel giving a total scalable power output of 320kVA. The FXS series incorporates fully digital, parallel control circuitry and acts on both active and reactive power on each phase of the UPS outputs. This allows accurate load current sharing among the UPS units even during transient conditions. Parallel control is distributed between all units and communication is achieved through the use of a CAN BUS connection loop. This eliminates any single point of failure within the system and increases reliability. In the modular arrangement units can be added or removed whilst the system is supporting a load. The smart parallel function enables individual units to shut down based on the load applied, delivering optimum efficiency whilst maintaining redundancy. Most individuals believe power failures are caused by lightning strikes or an act of God. However this is far from the truth. In actual fact most power failures can be attributed to everyday occurrences. In reality a computer suite is far more vulnerable to the contractor down the road cutting through an electric cable with his JCB, an act of vandalism or the most common causes of a computer crash - a local circuit breaker tripping. There is a misguided belief that a UPS is there essentially to protect against a power failure. Whilst this is partly true, in reality electrical threats come in many different variations than a straightforward power failure. 17 The B9000 incorporates high energy absorbing filters, ensuring clean and regulated electricity. Brown Outs A brown out occurs when the network voltage drops to a point whereby it can cause a server or PC to stop working. The affect can be the same as a full power failure, but may only last a second or two. Consider how frequently you experience the lights briefly flickering or dimming this is caused by a brown out. The B9000 is designed to deal with this threat by providing your servers with a fully regulated and clean supply regardless of the input voltage. It will even record when a brown out occurs so that you can investigate the cause at a later time. Applications The B9000 provides the ultimate in power protection for almost all industrial applications including railways, petrochemical, mining and process control. Manufactured in the EEC, the B9000 makes witness testing easy and convenient. All models can be modified to work in the harshest of environments with cabinet options available up to IP65. Additional metering, isolation and telemetry are all available on this robust and proven unit. Spikes These are bursts of high voltage and high energy, often generated by air conditioning, welding equipment or magnetic brakes. Laser devices or other similar machines can cause smaller but equally critical fluctuations in power. Spikes have a nasty habit of locking or freezing a computer programme - an irritation we have all experienced. There is a significant danger that larger spikes can easily damage a power supply, therefore many quality servers have two. 18 The B9000 is available as a three-phase system from 60kVA to 300 kva exclusively. The B9000 s true double conversion technology enables the load to run 100% of the time using a continuously rated inverter. The output voltage and frequency is regulated, cleaned and constantly monitored. Added to the converter are additional output filters, which ensure the removal of all other electrical noise, even in bypass mode. Expandable Power with Redundancy The B9000 can be configured to operate in parallel, offering an N+1 configuration or alternatively as a power expansion option. The parallel control system tightly manages both active and reactive type loads, allowing for intelligent load/current sharing between each individual phase. Air flow for the B9000 is drawn from the base of the UPS and is pushed out of the top, this design allows for the UPS to be installed against side or rear walls greatly saving space. Battery Management To offset the unavoidable process of battery decay, the B9000 incorporates a battery management system that is calibrated in accordance with most battery manufacturers specifications including NiCad s. Battery temperature is carefully monitored with data being passed back to the charger. In the event that ambient temperature increases, the B9000 will adjust its charging regime to compensate. Any major battery problem will automatically be raised as an alarm allowing for fast, remedial solution. Typically when running in parallel, conventional UPS work on a Master/Slave principle, which means that should the master UPS fail the whole system fails. However with the B9000, each system is connected to the other via a robust CAN BUS connection and is supplied with its own parallel monitoring system thereby removing a single point of failure. Expanding a B9000 system, either for parallel or power expansion, is a very simple process and can be performed in the field. With many non-industrial UPS auxiliary power supplies, there can be a single point of failure. The B9000 has been meticulously designed to allow for this possible scenario. Fail-safe engineering is one of those hidden benefits that are not evident until a problem occurs - customers can be assured that every facet of the B9000 has been carefully designed to mitigate any threat. Easy Installation & Operation Because of intelligent cooling, the B9000 Series can be positioned against back or side walls. Air is drawn through the front and expelled through the top - an important feature where space is at a premium. A further benefit of the Borri B9000 s cooling system is the extended life expectancy of the internal power components. Designed for easy maintenance, all components can be easily accessed from the front. This simple, but practical, feature greatly reduces servicing inconvenience, as the UPS can remain in situ. Efficiency & Eco Friendly The combination of the B9000 s DSP, Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT) and Tricore Technology all adds up to an efficient UPS, which in turn equates to financial savings. Achieving 95% efficiency in On-Line mode, the B9000 is typically 7% to 8% more efficient than a conventional six pulse UPS. In real terms, you could be saving 2.8kW per hour on a 40kVA installation. All high intensity computer users need, and in fact demand, a low MTTR! This requirement is no problem for the B9000, which offers features that dramatically reduce service or repair times. Problems can be diagnosed via the on board LCD screen, through a software interface or even the Internet. All critical circuit boards are accessed via the front of the UPS, removal and replacement of a board can be done whilst the UPS remains in position. In our opinion, transformer-based technology offers the best solution for the industrial user or the large IT customer. The combination of IGBT and DSP enables the B9000 to have an almost negligible effect on the mains supply, providing less than three percent harmonic distortion. The benefit of this feature is that a generator can be down sized by as much as 50%. 24 Online Double Conversion Ultimate protection for all loads from data centres to industrial applications, the B9000/B9600FXS incorporates Online Double Conversion or VFI (Voltage and Frequency Independent) topology. In Online Double Conversion mode the output voltage and frequency are constantly generated by the inverter and so are isolated from any input power disturbances, spikes, dips or outages. For maximum protection, the batteries are positioned in the conversion circuit to ensure there is no break or switching should the need arise for them to power the load. This technology allows for an extremely wide range of input voltage and frequency, whilst enabling the UPS to control perfect output conditions without having to use battery power. As the AC input is always converted to DC and then converted back to AC, the double conversion process provides complete electrical isolation of the output from the input, in fact unless the inverter is switched off the critical load will never see the raw mains power UPS Block Diagram 3

25 Enhanced Compatibility with Mains & Generators The B9000FXS/B9600FXS use an IGBT input rectifier design, encompassing an advanced PFC (Power Factor Correction), which can keep input current THDi (Total Harmonic Distortion of the input) at a level of less than 3% and an input power factor within 1% of unity, even when only small loads are applied. 26 Transformer Based In keeping with tradition and time proven reliability, the B9000FXS and B9600FXS include an output isolation transformer as standard. The benefit of eliminating the possibility of high DC voltage destroying a valuable data centre in the case of a failing semiconductor, certainly outweighs the small additional footprint required. The transformer increases the overload capabilities, step load performance and short circuit clearing capability and with the addition of a bypass isolation transformer (which produces no losses in normal mode) floating neutrals can be eliminated. High frequency ripple and harmonic distortion of the inverter waveform can also be eliminated with the integration of the transformer with the output AC filter capacitors forms a low-pass filter. 27 Air flow for the B9000FXS/B9600FXS is drawn from the base of the UPS and is exhausted out of the top, this design allows for the UPS to be installed against side or rear walls greatly reducing space. Parallel Offering parallel options for redundancy or capacity modes, the B9600FXS and B9600FXS can add future resilience or scalable growth Up to 8 units can be connected in parallel giving a total scalable power output of 6.4MVA. The FXS series incorporates a fully digital, parallel control circuitry and acts on both active and reactive power on each phase of the UPS outputs. This allows accurate load current sharing among the UPS units even during transient conditions. Parallel control is distributed between all units and communication is achieved through the use of a CAN BUS connection loop. This eliminates any single point of failure within the system and increases reliability. Ultra High Efficiency - Smart Online (SOL) While we advocate that ultimate protection is only achieved whilst operating in online double conversion mode, we also understand that in some situations users will require ultimate efficiency. With this in mind, the FXS series now features smart online mode (SOL). This mode significantly reduces energy consumption as the load is fed primarily through the bypass line. The SOL function continually monitors the input characteristics of the supply and the UPS switches to Inverter within 2mS should the control system experience any anomalies. This mode is perfect for achieving a reduced data centre PUE. Intelligent design of the system connections allow for easy installation and future additions without the need for a power down. In the modular arrangement, units can be added or removed whilst the system is supporting a load. The smart parallel function enables individual units to shut down based on the load applied, delivering optimum efficiency whilst maintaining redundancy.
