4 Why CG? (Good Engineering Practices) 3 Powder coating plant Surface Roughness Tester Following good engineering practices are followed by CG. This results in to low operating and maintenance cost during the life cycle of equipment and ensure enhanced reliability and long service life of our product. 1. Sheet steel (Raw Material) a. All metal enclosures are fabricated from CRCA sheet steel free from all surface defects. The panel enclosure have sufficient structural re-enforcement to ensure a plane surface to limit vibration and to provide rigidity during dispatch and installation. b. Procurement from reputed companies avoid bad finish, surface defect, low tensile strength, cracks during bending. c. Every lot of raw material are tested for surface finish, tensile strength, materia l composition, % elongation to ensure the finish & strength of the final product. 2. Emphasis on special processes Validation a. Welding, Brazing, Painting, Plating, Crimping, Casting etc. b. Audit Tests : Thermal cycle, Salt spray, Endurance etc 3. Phosphating, Pre-treatment and Painting a. All switchgear cubicles are made absolutely vermin-proof. All metal enclosures treated in 7 tank Pre-treatment process & painted with UV Resistant Pure Polyester Powder coating. Adequate thickness of Painting/Powder coating withstands tropical heat and extremes of weather. b. Powder coating quality checks by scratch hardness, peal off test, cross cut hatch test, bend test, impact test & salt spray test, UV resistance test. c. All mechanism components are zinc plated by trivalent passivation in a ROHS Compliant system. To verify the efficacy of the plating on the components, random samples are subjected to 150 hours salts spray test. 4. Welding Welding quality is checked by non destructive Dye Penetration test as per ASME section 9 & ASNDT standards to ensure defect free welding like porosity, blow holes, discontinuity, cracks etc. 5. Thermal Reliability Outdoor VCB Flexible laminations of electrolytic copper to be used with the ends of the laminations solidified with hot pressed/electro fusion/ Electro solidification method to ensure good electrical contacts and achieve minimum contact resistance. Indoor VCB Laminated contacts in Calix VCB and heat sink block for faster dissipation of heat to increase thermal reliability. 6. Trip and close coil The trip and close coil used in the breaker should be adjustment free, fixed factory setting & consume less power. 7. Electrical accessories: All electrical accessories like Switches, Lamps, Push buttons, terminal blocks, and fuses are procured only from reputed manufacturers. Only type tested accessories as per IEC standards are procured. 8. Control wires: FRHR / FRLS (Fire retardant, Low Smoke) grade wires are procured confirming to IEC standards from reputed manufacturers. 9. Higher Dielectric Strength Breaker are validated and type tested for higher Basic Insulation Level. 11KV : 38kV / 95 kvp Advantage to Customers: Eliminates the probability of flashovers increasing the service life of VCB with reduced maintenance cost, at no extra capital expenditure. 10. Protection against overcharging of springs After the charging motor supply is cut off the springs are likely to get further charged due to high inertia of rotating motor. Overcharging of springs are prevented by incorporating specially designed ratchet & thereby preventing mechanism closing hard. Good Engineering Practices
