Note: Orcle recommends using WeLogic nd Jv 1.8 with Empiric Signl 8.1. Empiric Signl

20 Chpter 2 Plnning your instlltion Informtion to collect efore you egin Before you egin, collect the following informtion out the setup of the dtse nd ppliction servers. You will need this informtion for the instlltion or upgrde. Dtse server TNSNAMES entry for the dtse. Service nme nd SID for the dtse. Note: In Orcle dtse 12c, the service nme might e for pluggle dtse. system nd sys pssword for the dtse. Time zone setting of your dtse so you cn set the Orcle WeLogic Server instnce to the sme time zone. Note: Orcle recommends using the UTC time zone for oth servers. The loction of the dt files for the instnce, if you pln to crete the tlespces in the sme loction. For exmple: u01/pp/orcle/ordt/<sid>/' For instlltions, e prepred to provide psswords for the Empiric Signl nd empiric_dmin dtse ccounts tht will e creted in these steps. If you re instlling Topics, lso e prepred to provide pssword for the topic_workflow dtse ccount tht will e creted. This ccount should not hve sudo privileges. This document refers to this user ccount s the non-privileged user ccount on the ppliction server. Unless otherwise specified in this document, the non-privileged user should perform ll ctivities. A user ccount tht hs sudo privileges. This user executes certin steps s root. 26 Chpter 3 Prepring the ppliction server Setting the defult file cretion umsk Note: If you re upgrding from Empiric Signl 8.0 using the sme ppliction server, skip this section. You modify the defult file cretion umsk so tht y defult, users in your group hve red-only ccess to files you crete. Users outside your group hve no ccess to the files you crete. Perform these steps using the non-privileged user ccount on the ppliction server. 1 Nvigte to your home directory, for exmple: $ cd ~ 2 Using text editor, open the.login file. 3 Add the following commnd to the file: umsk Sve nd close the file. 20 Empiric Signl

Perform these steps using the non-privileged user ccount on the ppliction server. Note: If you hve previously instlled Empiric Signl 8.0 on the sme ppliction server, efore executing the steps elow, renme the old Signl_Instll directory. For exmple, chnge its nme to Signl_Instll_old. 1 Unpck the Signl_Instll-8_1_0_2_XXX.tr.gz file into directory tht is ccessile to the WeLogic softwre, for exmple: $ cd /u01/stge $ tr xvf /u01/stge/signl_instll-8_1_0_2_xxx.tr.gz The /u01/stge/signl_instll directory is creted. Note: In this document, <INSTALL_DIR> refers to the directory creted in this step. The document ssumes tht you re instlling to this directory. 2 Unpck the Signl-8_1_0_2_XXX.zip file: Unpck the contents of the Signl-8_1_0_2_XXX.zip file into the directory, for exmple: $ unzip Signl-8_1_0_2_XXX.zip -d /u01/stge/signl_instll/signl Provide non-privileged ccount the execute permission on the MGPS sudirectory, for exmple: $ chmod u+x /u01/stge/signl_instll/signl/web-inf/clsses/mgps 3 If you use Empiric Topics, unpck the TopicsService-8_1_0_2_XXX.zip file into the TopicsService sudirectory in the instlltion directory, for exmple: $ unzip TopicsService-8_1_0_2_XXX.zip -d /u01/stge/signl_instll/topicsservice 4 Unpck the Signl-8_1_0_2_XXX-Dtse.zip file: Crete Dtse directory: $ mkdir /u01/stge/dtse Unpck the contents of the Signl-8_1_0_2_XXX-Dtse.zip file into the directory, for exmple: $ unzip Signl-8_1_0_2_XXX-Dtse.zip -d /u01/stge/dtse Empiric Signl

28 Chpter 3 Prepring the ppliction server Adding the dtse TNSNAMES entry You dd n entry to the tnsnmes.or file on the ppliction server to configure the connection to the Orcle dtse. If your tnsnmes.or file does not contin n entry for the dtse server, perform these steps using the non-privileged user ccount on the ppliction server. 1 Nvigte to the <ORACLE_HOME>/network/dmin directory, for exmple: $ cd <ORACLE_HOME>/network/dmin 2 If the tnsnmes.or file does not exist in the directory, crete the file. For more informtion, see the Orcle Dtse Online Documenttion. 3 Using text editor, open the tnsnmes.or file. 4 Add n entry tht points to the dtse server using informtion from the tnsnmes.or file on the dtse server. Note: In this document, <TNS_NAME> refers to the nme you ssigned in the entry creted in this step. 22 Empiric Signl

29 Instlltion nd Upgrde Instructions Setting up the ppliction dtse ccount (instlltion only) Perform these steps using the non-privileged user ccount on the ppliction server. 1 Nvigte to the /u01/stge/dtse directory, for exmple: $ cd /u01/stge/dtse 2 Review the 1_crete_wevdme_tlespces_linux.sql file: Using text editor, open the 1_crete_wevdme_tlespces_linux.sql file, for exmple: $ vi 1_crete_wevdme_tlespces_linux.sql c Locte the dtfile_pth vrile. To crete Empiric Signl dt files in loction other thn the defult loction of your dtse, specify the loction s the vlue of the dtfile_pth vrile, for exmple: DEFINE dtfile_pth = '/u01/pp/orcle/ordt/<sid> d Note: The pth must end in forwrd slsh (/). Sve nd close the file. 3 Crete the Signl tlespce: Execute the 1_crete_wevdme_tlespces_linux.sql script s the Orcle system user, for exmple: $ sqlplus A pssword prompt ppers. Type the Orcle system ccount pssword. 4 Crete the Empiric Signl dtse user ccount nd schem: At the SQL*PLUS prompt, execute the 2_crete_wevdme_orcle_user.sql script s the Orcle sysd user: $ sqlplus sys@<tns_name> s c d A pssword prompt ppers. Type the Orcle sys ccount pssword. A second pssword prompt ppers. Type pssword for the Empiric Signl dtse ccount. Retype the pssword. Note: You use the pssword in lter step. A third pssword prompt ppers. e Type pssword for the empiric_dmin ccount. f Retype the pssword. 5 Populte the ppliction schem: Empiric Signl

Do not perform this procedure if you do not use Empiric Topics. For more informtion, see the User Guide nd Online Help.
