6 HEAD acoustics Services Overview Performance testing to OEM specifications Many OEM specifications are developed and specified using both the HEAD acoustics ArtemiS software and internally developed metrics. We are very experienced with testing to these specifications and providing reliable results. Benchmarking performance of competitive products Let HEAD acoustics help you determine how your product stacks up vs. the competitors using standardized performance tests or ones which HEAD acoustics has developed for you. Troubleshooting causes of poor sound quality or excessive noise levels If products are not meeting specifications and you need help identifying causes and possible design solutions, our experienced staff using the latest advanced methods can help troubleshoot even the most difficult noise problems. Two effective methods at our disposal are the HEAD VISOR Source Localization process and the Binaural Transfer Path Analysis (BTPA) process. The HEAD VISOR system combines a microphone array with a 3-D camera and powerful analysis software to provide an interactive real-time display of the location of noise sources. BTPA provides a method to separate out structural and airborne noise paths. Once these paths are isolated, each one can be listened to and analyzed independently in order to determine the paths that contribute the most to the noise problem. Each path can also be modified using simulation to determine the changes need to achieve the overall sound quality goal.

7 HEAD acoustics Services Overview Sound quality metric development If there are no standards established for your product, HEAD acoustics can work with you to establish a set of performance measurements that quantify the various sound quality characteristics. Typically this combines consumer listening tests with objective measures of the key sound attributes. Specifications can be created to ensure desired sound quality goals are met. Creating end-of-line tests to monitor sound quality during production Once performance goals have been met during development, HEAD acoustics can help you set up automated testing during production to ensure quality is maintained. Jury listening studies These can either be consumer based tests to establish product acceptability or expert panels to identify and measure key sound attributes present in the products. Sound design services can be offered to develop simulated sounds, which incorporate improved sound attributes. HEAD acoustics utilizes the SQuare system to automate the design, delivery and processing of results of jury studies.
