3 Introduction The purpose of the Corrective Action Plan is to provide the Office of Civil Rights ( OCR ), and all responsible persons within Belton ISD a detailed list of actions to be taken by the District and to create a guide for correcting all accessibility compliance issues on the Belton ISD website, as referenced in the voluntary Resolution Agreement with OCR. Belton ISD has recently moved all website content to a new 508 compliant template version with Schoolwires/Blackboard. This plan will be used to evaluate and ensure that corrective actions have been completed. Intended Audience The Corrective Action Plan is intended for the Office of Civil Rights, Belton ISD leadership and Belton ISD content providers. It will also be published on the Belton ISD website under the Communications Department for community stakeholders to view. Program Vision The ( the District, BISD, Belton ISD ) is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities, including treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain dignity and independence. We believe in inclusion and are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. To do so, the District will remove and prevent barriers to accessibility by ensuring that online content and functionality complies with the World Wide Web Consortium s (W3C s) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA and the Web Accessibility Initiative Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite (WAI-ARIA) 1.0 for web content. The District is supportive of keeping our families connected to learning resources outside of the classroom and using those resources as a way to keep parents involved in their student s academic livelihood. Belton ISD will continue to use Siteimprove, a web accessibility evaluation tool, to verify ADA compliance for internal monitoring procedures and as evidence of corrective action completion. All Belton ISD Communications Department staff will be responsible for all elements of the Corrective Action Plan. Review Status Information BISD will conduct regular accessibility reviews of the corrective action plan items by using the contracted Siteimprove s Accessibility Tracking software. OCR may verify that the items have been corrected by running WAVE, a free web accessibility evaluation tool.
