2 1 Set up the Wireless-G USB Network Adpter with SpeedBooster A B C D Insert the Setup Wizrd CD- ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The Setup Wizrd should run utomtilly, nd the Welome sreen should pper. If it does not, lik the Strt utton nd hoose Run. In the field tht ppers, enter D:\setup.exe (if D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive). To instll the Adpter, lik the Instll utton on the Welome sreen. After reding the Liense Agreement, lik Next. Choose wireless network mode. Clik the Infrstruture Mode rdio utton if you wnt your wireless omputers to network with omputers on your wired network using wireless ess point. Clik the Ad-Ho Mode rdio utton if you wnt multiple wireless omputers to network diretly with eh other. In the SSID field, enter the SSID or nme for your wireless network. The SSID must e identil for ll devies in the network. Clik Next. B C D 2

3 E F If you hose Infrstruture Mode, go to Step F now. If you hose Ad-Ho Mode, selet the hnnel tht your network uses. For the Network Mode, selet Mixed Mode to llow oth Wireless-G nd Wireless-B omputers on the network, or selet G-Only Mode to llow only Wireless-G omputers. Then lik Next. If your network doesn t use ny seurity method, selet Disled nd lik Next. Proeed to Step H. If you wnt seurity, selet the seurity method you wnt to use: WEP, PSK, PSK + RADIUS, or RADIUS. (WEP stnds for Wired Equivlent Privy, nd PSK stnds for Pre-Shred Key. RADIUS stnds for Remote Authentition Dil-In User Servie.) Then lik Next nd proeed to Step G. E F 3

4 G Proeed to the pproprite instrutions for your seurity method. 1 WEP Selet 64-it or 128-it from the drop-down menu. Enter your Pssphrse in the Pssphrse field, nd the WEP key will e utomtilly generted. To mnully enter the WEP key, leve the Pssphrse field lnk nd enter the WEP key in the WEP Key field. WEP Clik Next, nd go to Step H. 2 PSK Selet the enryption method you wnt to use, TKIP or AES, from the drop-down menu. Enter your Pssphrse or Pre- Shred Key in the Pssphrse field. Then lik Next nd proeed to Step H. PSK 4

5 3 PSK + RADIUS Selet the uthentition method you wnt to use, EAP-TLS or EAP-PEAP. EAP-TLS d Enter the login nme in the Login Nme field. Enter the nme of the uthentition server in the Server Nme field. From the Certifite dropdown menu, selet the uthentition ertifite. Selet the enryption method you wnt to use, TKIP or AES. PSK + RADIUS EAP-TLS e Clik Next, nd go to Step H. EAP-PEAP d Enter the login nme in the Login Nme field. Enter the pssword in the Pssword field. Enter the nme of the uthentition server in the Server Nme field. From the Certifite dropdown menu, selet the uthentition ertifite. PSK + RADIUS EAP-PEAP 5

RADIUS EAP-TLS d Clik Next, nd go to Step H. EAP-PEAP Enter the login nme in the Login Nme field. Enter the pssword in the Pssword field. When the Adpter is plugged in, the Power LED should light up. For Windows XP users, Found New Hrdwre sreen my pper. Clik Next. You my see sreen inditing tht digitl signture ws not found. After the Adpter is instlled, the Wireless Network Monitor ion will pper in the system try t the ottom right-hnd orner of your sreen. Doule-lik the ion if you wnt to hek the link informtion, serh for ville wireless networks, or mke dditionl onfigurtion hnges. Congrtultions! 9 Addendum for Wireless Network Monitor Utility Reminder: This is USB 2.0 devie. To utilize the full dt throughput you must onnet it to PC with USB 2.0 port nd not USB 1.1 port. READ THIS ADDENDUM ONLY IF YOU CANNOT SUCCESSFULLY CONNECT TO YOUR NETWORK. This only pplies to users who use multiple ess points in the sme re or those who hve prolems finding the ess point/d-ho network they wnt to onnet to using the Network Monitor Utility. When using the Utility to perform Site Survey to onnet to n ess point in your wireless network, note tht two limittions exist on the Utility: only rnge of hnnels n e snned t one time, nd only mximum of five ess points nd/or Ad-ho networks will pper in the list of ess points. So, if the ess point or Adho network's hnnel is outside the rnge of the monitor, it will not pper in the site survey window even if you lik the Refresh utton. And if there re more thn 5 ess points nd/or Ad-ho network in the rnge, only the strongest signl will pper in the Site Survey t. If you wnt to onnet to n ess point or Ad-ho network tht does not pper in the list, you will need to hnge your profile settings in the Utility. Follow these instrutions: 1. Open the Utility. To do this, doule-lik on the Wireless network Monitor Utility ion on your system try. 2. Open "Chpter 5: Using the Wireless Network Monitor" of the User Guide on the CD-ROM. 3. Follow the instrutions for the option tht pplies to your sitution: Option A. If you know the wireless network settings (SSID, seurity, et.) of the ess point or Ad-ho network you wish to onnet to, lik on the Profiles t, nd rete new profile (refer to Creting New Profile setion in the User Guide) or lik the Edit utton to edit the existing profile with the pproprite settings for the ess point or Ad-ho network. Next, you n sve, nd tivte the profile. You should now e onneted to the ess point/network if ll the informtion you entered is orret. You n lik the Link Informtion t nd lik More Informtion to hek the sttus of the onnetion. If you still nnot onnet to your network, follow option B. Option B If you don't know the wireless network settings of the ess point or Ad-ho network you wnt to onnet to, or you need to sn through rnge of hnnels tht is not displyed y the Site survey of the Utility, we reommend tht you rete new profile. Or you n edit your existing profile (ll settings in the profile will e hnged when you sve your new settings). To rete new profile, lik on the Profiles t in the Wireless Network Monitor, nd follow the instrutions in the Creting New Profile setion in the User Guide, using the defult settings, ut with the following exeptions: 1. Network Settings sreen. Use the defult setting Otin network setting utomtilly (DHCP) 2. Wireless Mode sreen. Selet Ad-Ho Mode. Enter the network nme for the SSID or rete one if you hven t lredy done so. 3. Ad-Ho Mode Settings sreen. Selet Chnnel 1 for the hnnel. After ompleting the instrutions nd sving nd Conneting to Network to tivte the profile, return to the Site Survey t, lik Refresh, nd you should see list of ess points/ad-ho networks using hnnels 1 to t lest hnnel 4 (you ll see your PC with the SSID you reted s n Ad-Ho network in the site survey sreen). You n highlight the ess point or Ad-ho network you wnt to onnet to nd lik the Connet utton to onnet to it (if seurity is enled, you must enter the proper seurity settings). Sve this profile s your defult profile. If the Aess point or Ad-ho network you were looking for does not pper, modify the profile you reted nd go to the Ad-Ho Mode Settings sreen.
