5 1 Host Computer Setup 2 Packing List 1. Set Printer Port only at EPP (Enhanced Parallel Port) mode. And set Parallel port address at 378h or 278h (3BCh is not available). Example: Take AWARD BIOS setup as example: Main menu/chipset Feature Setup/Parallel Port Mode/EPP 2. The default Parallel Port is 378h. 3. Pentium 100 or above with a Speed of 1GHz or less. 4. Window 98 / ME or Window 2000 / XP (addendum DLPortIO ) < One PMEPS60 PM Version 1.4 board (see figure below) < One Flash Card V1.2 with a built-in flash memory chip (AM29LV800BB) < IDE 2005 software tool and handbook (see note below) NOTE 1. 7 3 ICE + PM Board + User Demo Board Installation, Setup, and Operation 3.1 ICE + PM Board + User Demo Boards Installation NOTE 1. The ICE2003/IDE2005 is required in this procedure and should be procured separately. 2. Refer to ICE2003/ICE2005 Handbook for ICE installation & operation details. Connect User Demo Board here (CN1 Connector) Processor Module (PM) Board PM Board to ICE2003 connectors (IR1 & IR2) ICE2003 / ICE2005 Figure 3-1 Installing PM Board into ICE2003/2005 (Cross-Section View) 1. Plug the PM Board on top of the ICE2003/ICE2005 board via PM Board IR1 and IR2 connectors. 2. Plug your Demo board on top of the PM Board via CN1 connector. 3. Connect the Extended Printer cable between ICE2003/ICE2005 and PC through printer or USB port. 3.2 PM Board Jumper and Resistor R8 Setup Power Mode Setup with J2 Set Jumper J2 to Power mode position as illustrated in the table below: Mode 1: VCC comes from ICE and VDD comes from regulator (Default setting). Mode 2: VCC and VDD power are stand-alone. Mode 3: VCC sourced from ICE and VDD power is stand-alone. 10 3.2.6 Connecting Resistor at R8 Connect an appropriate resistor at R8 to set the selected high frequency as illustrated in the table below. Selected High Frequency 200kHz 300kHz 500kHz 1MHz Required Resistor at R8 1.5MΩ 1MΩ 560KΩ 270KΩ NOTE < Only resistor of high frequency value can be used for the PM Board. < Double check the LSI s resistor high frequency value to ensure that it conforms with the product specification. 3.3 Getting Started with ICE (+PM Board + User Demo Boards) Connected to PC 1. Plug-in the +5V power into the ICE2003/ICE2005 board power jack, and switch ON power. The red LED should light up. 2. Run the IDE 2005 program and open your existing project or create a new one. From Project menu, click Add Files to Project command to add your file to the project. Then click Rebuild All. 3. From the Menu bar, click Option ICE Code Setting to view and check the current setting status of several items, including printer port connection. Figure 3-6a Project Menu Figure 3-6b Option Menu NOTE If ICE initialization error occurs, check the PM Board power supply which should be 3.3V to the VCC. Or re-check jumper and R8 setting (Section 3.3) again; or the computer parallel port setup described in Section 1. 6 PMEPS60 Processor Module Handbook
11 4. From toolbar, click Go button ( ) to initialize the ICE, download, and execute file. To abort execution, click the Exit Debugging button ( ). If error occurs, click Exit Debugging button ( ) Reset Program button ( ), and repeat procedure from Step 1. NOTE If problem persists, disconnect and reconnect Printer Port and DC power. Then run from Step 1 again. 4 PMEPS60 Board + Demo Board Stand-Alone Setup and Operation 4.1 Downloading File and Installing Demo Board to PM Board 1. Perform download to the Program ROM of Flash Card V1.2 by clicking Tool Download PROM Data from the IDE 2005 menu bar. Browse for the *.epm file to download. 2. With downloading completed, switch-off power and remove the ICE2003/ICE2005 board, and leave the PM Board as a stand-alone board. 3. Plug-in your Demo board into the CN1 connectors on the PM Board (see Figure 3-1).
