REGISTERING AUSLOGICS BOOSTSPEED 5 You will need to register your program copy to unlock full functionality. After purchase, you will receive an message with your license code. Open BoostSpeed and click on Register now at the top of the main program window. A pop-up will prompt you to enter your license code. Open your confirmation that contains your license code, select the entire license code and copy it. To copy, right-click on the selected code and choose Copy from the menu that appears. Go back to BoostSpeed. The license code you copied should automatically appear in the registration field. If it doesn t, click inside the registration box and select Paste from the menu that appears. Make sure there is no blank space left before, after or in the middle of the code, then click Register. A message will appear confirming that registration was successful.
BACKING UP WITH THE RESCUE CENTER 6 Auslogics BoostSpeed is equipped with the Rescue Center, which lets you create a backup prior to running optimization or any other operations. This helps ensure that you can always roll back any changes made by Auslogics tools if you do not like the results. We recommend getting familiar with the Rescue Center prior to using Boost- Speed for the first time. You can specify which parts of the BoostSpeed package should back up before each run, how long those backups should be stored and how much disk space they may occupy. To access the Rescue Center settings, click on 'Settings' at the bottom left of the main program window. In the window that opens select 'Rescue Center' from the menu on the left. This will display current Rescue Center settings and let you change any of them according to your preferences. If you'd like, you can have most tools create backups as you first start using Boost- Speed and then uncheck them as you get more comfortable with the program.
7 To view backups created in the Rescue Center, click on 'Backups' in the bottom left corner of the main program window. In the window that opens you will see a list of available backups that have been created by BoostSpeed. Select a backup from the list and then choose the action you would like to apply to it, such as 'restore', view 'details' or 'delete'. Clicking 'Refresh' will refresh the list of available backups. Click 'OK' when done. You can also view available system restore points here by selecting 'Restore Points' from the left-side menu. Use this feature if you need to take your whole system back to a point in time before you applied specific changes or installed certain s, not just Auslogics. PLEASE NOTE: when you use a restore point, you lose all changes made and all files saved after the date to which you are rolling back.
YOUR FIRST SCAN 8 The program will open once installation completes and the scan will start automatically (upon first program launch only). Please wait for the scan to complete, it normally only takes a couple of minutes. The scan results will be displayed on the main screen and you will be able to review them in detail prior to taking any action. Upon scan completion, the main screen will display the amount of junk files discovered on your drive, as well as the number of stability, speed and privacy issues detected. If you d like to review scan results in more detail or uncheck items you want skipped during repair, you can click on the Clean Up Your PC tab, then click on View details under each category (the tab is described in more detail further in this document). When done reviewing and/or unchecking, click the Resolve all button to get all detected issues resolved.then proceed to the Protect Your Privacy tab and do the same there. The privacy scan has its own tab, as the functionality it includes is so extensive that it requires more space to provide details. The one-button scan and repair feature is just a small portion of what BoostSpeed can do to ensure a great PC experience for you. Take some time to get familiar with its extensive functionality and use as many tools as you can for maximum effect.
NAVIGATION PANEL 9 The program navigation panel in BoostSpeed 10 is located vertically along the left side of the main program window. It contains shortcuts to all of BoostSpeed s main features and lets you easily access and control all of the program s components.
NAVIGATION PANEL: BASIC FEATURES OVERVIEW TAB 10 The Overview tab provides a summary of your PC s current maintenance status. The top portion of the window shows how many issues, if any, are currently present on your computer and whether a scan or maintenance is in order. The bottom part of the screen contains a list of all tools available in BoostSpeed, which you can scroll through horizontally by clicking the arrows at either end of the list. There are 18 tools in all in this list, each of them handling a specific task meant to improve PC performance and data security. These tools will be described in detail further in this manual.
NAVIGATION PANEL: BASIC FEATURES CLEAN UP YOUR PC TAB 11 The Clean Up Your PC tab lists the three performance categories that can be included in the main one-click scan and repair. When you haven t run a scan for a while, the screen will look like this. You can also customize the scanner for each category by clicking the settings icon at the top-right corner of each category section You can exclude a category from the one-click scan and repair by setting the switch under it to OFF. When done customizing, or if you don t need to customize anything, click the green Scan button to check for potential problems.
12 Once the scan completes, you will see a results summary here. If you d like to see details on what exactly has been detected under each category, click the View details link for a complete list of issues for each category. Alternatively, you can click the See a full report link located to the right of the big Resolve all button. You will also be able to uncheck items you would like to be skipped during repair, in case you want to keep something or simply aren t sure about an item. When done reviewing the scan results, click the Resolve all button to launch cleanup. This is the essential maintenance routine that will keep your computer running well for longer.
NAVIGATION PANEL: BASIC FEATURES PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY TAB 13 The Privacy scanner protects your private data by scanning for and erasing confidential records from your browsers, system components and applications. The screen lists two important categories on the left Tracking Cookies and Adult Website Traces. However, there are more types of privacy traces BoostSpeed checks for. You will see the total number of privacy traces found on your PC under All Personal Data on the right. Click the green Scan for privacy issues button to launch a scan. When the scan completes, you will see the results here, will have the option to view a detailed report and uncheck items you want to keep, then click the Resolve all issues button to clean up. s
NAVIGATION PANEL: BASIC FEATURES OPTIMIZE YOUR WINDOWS TAB 14 The Optimize Your Windows feature is an advanced tool that checks your system to identify tweaks, which could potentially improve your PC s performance, security or other aspects of your user experience. The scanner includes 3 categories, under which tweaks may be suggested: Performance, Stability and Security. If you prefer not to receive tweak suggestions under a specific category, you can disable that category by setting the switch under it to OFF, and it will not be included in future scans. s
Once the tool completes the scan, it will give you a list of all recommended tweaks along with brief descriptions of the potential effect you may expect. 15 Tweaks are listed by category Performance, Stability and Security. You can apply each tweak individually by clicking the Apply this tweak link next to it. You can also apply all tweaks under one of the three categories simultaneously by clicking the link next to category name. If there are suggestions here you are not so sure about, you can check the box next to each to skip it. Some tweaks may require a PC reboot, so it is best to close all programs prior to using the Optimize Your Windows tool. This way you will be able to reboot your computer immediately if BoostSpeed prompts you to do that after a certain tweak. s
NAVIGATION PANEL: ADVANCED FEATURES REAL TIME SPEEDUP 16 BoostSpeed offers five Real Time Speedup tools that monitor your system and work to maintain great performance in real time. These tools include: Memory Optimization Processor Optimization Auto Defragmentation Disk Priority Management Desktop Protection The tools are listed on the right, with detailed information on the selected tool provided in the center of the screen. Tools that are currently enabled are marked with a green dot, while those that are disabled have a red dot next to them. Select a tool from the list to view additional info on it or to enable it, if the tool is currently disabled (the green Enable tool button will be right under tool details).
NAVIGATION PANEL: ADVANCED FEATURES BROWSER CLEANUP 17 The Browser Cleanup tab will have a name depending on the web browser set as default in your system (such as Google Chrome Cleanup, Firefox Cleanup ). The tool lets you restore order to all your installed web browsers(- BoostSpeed currently supports Google Chrome, InternetExplorer, Mozilla Firefox). When you click on this tab, the screen that opens will show information on your default browser, with additional tabs for other browsers installed. You will see a list of all installed extensions or add-ons along with their current status (whether they are enabled or disabled). By clicking on the checkmark next to an add-on, you can disable it without deleting it from your browser. Do this if you plan to use the add-on in the future and just want to temporarily turn it off. If you want to completely delete an add-on, click the recycle bin icon to the right of its name. You can also disable or delete add-ons in batches. To do that, select the add-ons by checking boxes to the left of their names, click the Batch operations button below the list and select the action to apply to these add-ons. When done with your default browser, click on the tab for another browser you have installed (if you have any) to clean it up as well.
