The American Welding Society working with ASME has issued a document ANSI/AWS B.1 "Standard for Welding Procedure and Performance Qualification". The AWS document, which is based on the same requirements as ASME SECTION IX, allows the use Standard Welding procedures whereby the manufacture can purchase these from AWS and a nominal cost. Likewise, this document can cover a varity applications that could be involved during the welding pumps and thus be more representative the joint configuration, ISO Material Selections, and welding processes required. In summary, I would change this reference the AWS B.1 document. ASME Section IX is directed towards USA requirements and not intended to be used for international applications. AWS B.1 is directed towards an internation usage, like ISO applications.
