BRAun --- Nizo New: Nizo S36, Nizo S40, Nizo S Precision Zoom es. Automatic TTL exposures. Reflex view finders. Electric drives. And many other -;Outstanding features.
NizoS36 rn ft. O 10 ] oncontr, ofl The Nizo S 36 is recommended for movie makers who do not need a particularly long tele or other special features. The push button control of the Power Zoom varies the horizontal field angle between 33 and 8 35'. The automatic exposure control metering the light makes sure that the varying field angles are properly considered for the choice of the apertures. The automatic exposure control can be cut off by an override and any desired aperture may be set manually. The camera operates at 18 and 24 f.p.s., the motor is driven by four 1.5 V batteries located in the pistol grip. The grip folds back to make the tripod socket accessible. Trick films are made with the S 36 through single frame exposures using a cable release. All Nizo cameras feature the high quality zoom es of Schneider, Kreuznach. The cross section above offers a view of the optical construction. The es have such long zoom ranges that accessory es are not really necessary if the camera is carefully selected from the start to suit the individual taste. In the wide angle position all es because of enormous depth of field permit much shorter taking distances than indicated on the focusing ring. The Nizo S 36 offers pictoral effects which would require es between 60 and 230 mm focal length on a 35-mm-camera.
NizoS40 NizoS55 The Nizo S 40 and S 55 have basically the same features as the Nizo S 36. Aside from the longer zoom ranges (Field angle S 40: 37 to 7 40', S 55: 42 to 5 30') these cameras offer a built-in magnet for electrical remote control and at a setting of 54 f.p.s. a 3 : 1 slow motion speed. Six 1.5 V batteries in the folding grip assure ample power reserve. Because of its especially long focal length in the tele position the Nizo S 55 is equipped with a split-image range finder. The Nizo S 40 has a cross hair as focusing aid. For all their varied features even the first film with any Nizo camera will be a success, even for a beginner. Red dots mark the standard position of the controls. The trigger button is within easy reach. Nizo cameras are well balanced and feel good in either left or right hand. The Nizo S '40 offers pictoral effects which would require es between 50 and 260 mm focal length on a 35-mm-camera. The Nizo S 155 offers pictoral effects which would require es between 45 and 375 mm focal length on a 35-mm-camera.
, I Ease of operation makes for handy cameras At every position of the zoom the viewfinder image is equally bright and completely free from distortion. The Nizo S 55 has a split-image range finder in the center since the extreme long focal length of its Jens requires exact focusing. A light above the image indicates proper film transport and also signals the end of the film. The automatically selected f-stop is shown on a scale in the viewfinder and can always be rechecked. In case of backlighting or other unusual conditions the automatic exposure control can be cut off. Any desired f-stop (or even half stop) may be set manually with the override knob. The same scale is also used to check the voltage of both drive and meter batteries. This illustration shows the nerve center of a Nizo camera. The automatic exposure control is a special development by Gossen. It does not work with just a simple slit but actually uses two shutter type blades to shape the proper opening. This is most important for the optimum utilization of the depth of field. The major shaft bearings are made of synthetic rubies. The exposure control of the Nizo S 40 and S 55 operates on two 1.35 V wafer batteries, the Nizo S 36 uses only one. They all are easily accessible in the camera base. The Super 8 cartridge slides into the Nizo cameras as easily as a Jetter into a mail box. In the process it also adjusts the automatic exposure control to the particular film in use. Super 8 cartridges are supplied only with indoor film. Therefore Nizo cameras have a built-in filter which is easily taken out of action. Switching from indoor to outdoor filming (or vice versa) is no problem. The Nizo S 40 and S 55 use six 1.5 V batteries for the drive. They are held in a box which slips into the pistol grip. The operating voltage of the battery set can be conveniently checked at any time. With a loaded spare box handy, batteries can be exchanged as quickly and easily as the film cartridge. When the camera is not in use and the pistol grip folded back, the circuit is automatically broken. There can be no accidental triggering, and battery life is saved.
Camera features for creative filming Power Zoom m. ft !0 Manual erride 0. Triple slow motion Remote control (in back of camera base) Power zoom: Zoom es offer the creative movie maker the advantages of as many single es as there are millimeters in the zoom range (Nizo S 36: 27 mm; S 40: 32 mm; S 55: 49 mm). A change of focal length is the equivalent of changing a whole. The result of a continued focal length change is a zoom shot. For convenient framing and smooth zooming all Nizo cameras are equipped with power zoom. The Nizo S 40 and S 55 offer in addition a second, faster speed which permits "skipping" for dramatic pictorial effects. Manual override: The already mentioned can be used for fade-in and fade-out. For this purpose determine the correct aperture with the automatic exposure control and remember it. Then move the control knob from "automatic" to "manual" and continue moving it until the pointer in the viewfinder shows the same aperture that was previously determined. A fade-out is made by moving the pointer on the aperture scale towards f:22 while shooting. Opening up the aperture during filming results in a fade-in. However, this trick is only possible under normal light conditions. If the correct aperture is already 11 or smaller there is not enough travel left on the aperture scale to achieve any worthwhile effects. Triple slow motion: Nizo S 40 and S 55 can take pictures at a rate of 54 f.p.s. If such films are projected at normal speed (18 f.p.s.) every motion will appear to be 3 times slower. Events on the screen can be observed more conveniently and will show more than the bare eye could see. The 54 f.p.s. speed stretches each taking second into three projection seconds. Fast moving objects can be filmed with striking results. Slow motion offers some of the magic which creates dreams on film. Electrical Remote Control: The Electrical Remote Control on the Nizo S 40 and S 55 makes for more natural and livelier pictures because the camera can be hidden some distance away. Both cameras also offer a choice between cable release and remote control for single frame trick shots. Even the cameraman himself may occasionally appear in the picture by taking his Nizo "on the leash".
L Accessories The Braun Editor SB 1 has a 3" by 4" screen. Illuminated by a 6 V/10 W Halogen lamp it presents a particularly bright, high contrast image even in day-light, for convenient viewing, cutting and editing. A punch marks the frames selected in the viewer for cutting. A special feature of the SB 1 is its built-in film cleaner. Showing pictures with the Braun FP 3 super projector is as easy as taking them with the Nizo Super 8 camera. There are only three short steps required before the picture appears on the screen: Turn on the switch-insert the film-focus the. The film is threaded automatically. Still projection, forward and reverse, variable speed up to 24 f.p.s., screen inside cover of carrying case. Braun FP 3 super projector delivered with Halogen lamp 12 V, 100 W, Special, ewind reel and 20 mm f:1.3 or with zoom projection f:1.4/18 to 30 mm Close-up es for the Nizo S 36: Nizo NL " to 29" Nizo NL " to 20" Nizo NL " to 15" Close-up es for the Nizo S40 and S55: Nizo NL 1 = 40" to 22" Nizo NL 2 22" to 16" Nizo NL 3 = 16" to 10" The drive battery of the Nizo S 40 and S 55 are kept in a handy box which slips into the camera grip. With a loaded spare box changing batteries is as easy as changing films. There are handy leather holster and compartment cases available for all Nizo cameras. In a holster case the camera can be conveniently carried and is always ready for action. The compartment case (not illustrated) is sturdy. It holds the accessories and can be locked.
Nizo S56, Nizo S80 in a class by themselves m The only Super 8 cameras which can take automatically exposed pictures from one frame per minute to 54 frames per second. Also: Variable Shutter and Telerange of unexcelled performance. Please ask for the detailed catalog.

The company's history begins with the introduction of the built-in spring motor eliminating the tripod which had been a necessity before that. Nizo built the first European 8 mm camera with a spring motor and a reflex movie camera as early as the beginning of the 1930's. Modern zoom es could not be used without this viewing system. In 1962 Nizo became a daughter company of the Braun AG. The practical and internationally recognized styling is the work of Braun's industrial designers. 1/50369 Printed in Western Germany
