Mode 1 remains ON at all times for continuous compensation. Mode 2 starts working as soon as the shutter is released to achieve a greater effect. MEGA O.I.S. ( Image Stabilizer) gyrosensors detect even slight camera movement caused by hand-shake. The system then compensates for the shake so you get clear, sharp photos. Intelligent Control This system detects if the subject is moving as you shoot, and automatically adjusts the setting and shutter speed accordingly to help prevent motion blur. Face Detection This function locates any faces in the photo and adjusts the focus and exposure to capture them correctly. This is especially helpful when shooting portraits. Intelligent Scene Selector This function automatically sets the camera to whichever of five scene modes Portrait, Night Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery or Macro is best for the situation. 16 LUMIX FUNCTIONS 3 Mode Dial or Mode Button This single, easy-to-understand mode dial or button lets you easily switch between shooting, viewing, and printing. Intelligent Auto Mode This mode not only helps eliminate blurring from hand-shake or subject movement, it also helps you capture perfect people shots by detecting the face and selecting the focus, exposure and scene mode that get the best results. And it's all automatic. Intelligent Mode Both MEGA O.I.S. and Intelligent Control automatically activate, making it easy to take blur-free shots. Also in this mode, when you bring the lens close to a subject, the camera automatically switches to Macro mode (and notifies you with a message on the ). Normal Picture Mode (Program AE) The camera automatically determines the subject's brightness and sets the aperture and shutter speed accordingly. You can adjust the white balance, sensitivity and other settings*. *These settings can be adjusted in all modes except Simple and Motion Image modes. Macro Mode / Macro Button Use this mode to take incredible close-ups. You can focus on subjects within about 5 cm (0.16 ft) of the lens*. *1 cm (0.03 ft) for the FZ28 and LX3; when shooting with the lens in the wide-angle setting. Tele Macro Set the zoom to maximum telephoto and you can take shots at a mere 1 m (3.28 ft) from the subject, with the background in soft focus.
