4 Indoor Ceiling Mounting The FortiCam FD40 supports ceiling mounting. The following items and tools are required for in-ceiling installation: FCM-FD4-ICM In-Ceiling Mounting Kit Content: In-Ceiling Mount (U-shaped Bracket + Ceiling Mount Bracket) Ceiling Sticker M3x6 Mechanical Screw (x2) Trim Ring Tools Needed: Tools for cutting (+, ) Screwdriver Allen Key (supplied) Note: For protection against insects and dust, install the gland provided with the FD40 in the rear entry. To mount your FortiCam FD40 to the ceiling: Step 1: Loosen the two security screws with the supplied Allen Key and open the dome cover. Figure 1 4

5 Step 2: The dome cover is attached to the camera housing with an anti-drop cable. Loosen the screw to detach the dome cover from the camera housing. Figure 2 Step 3: Use the back conduit entry for cable connection. Use a coin to open the back conduit entry block (figure 3) and place it to the side conduit entry. Figure 3 Step 4: Align the two marked screw holes on the camera (figure 4) to the U-shaped Bracket (figure 5). Figure 4 Figure 5 5

6 Step 5: Fasten the two supplied M3x6 mechanical screws to attach the camera to the U-shaped Bracket (figure 6). Figure 1 Figure 2 Step 6: Place the Ceiling Sticker on the ceiling and use it as a guide to cut a circle out from the ceiling. Figure 3 Step 7: Place the Ceiling Mount Bracket around the opening in the ceiling and tighten the two screws on the bracket (figure 9). When tightening the screws, the wings on the bracket push toward the ceiling figure 10). Make sure the wings are completely flush with the ceiling. Figure 4 6

7 Figure 5 Step 8: Align the U-shaped Bracket attached to the camera to the Ceiling Mount Bracket on the ceiling. Figure 6 Step 9: Place the camera into the ceiling opening and affix the U-shaped Bracket on the camera to the Ceiling Mount Bracket by tightening the two screws on the bracket. Step 10: Put the Ethernet cable through the back conduit entry hole and connect it to the camera. Figure 7 To connect the power, alarm, and audio connectors, refer to the User s Manual. Figure 8 7

8 Figure 9 Step 11: Adjust the pan, tilt, and spin holders of the camera to point the camera at a desired position. Users can see the camera view by accessing the Camera Browser-viewer. Note: The pan adjustment angle is nearly 360. The tilt adjustment angle is between 0 ~ 80. The spin adjustment angle is between -100 ~ 100. Disconnect the BNC cable before attempting to install the dome cover Figure 11 Step 12: Tighten the tilt screw to lock the camera in the desired position. Figure 12 8

9 Step 13: Attach the dome cover to the camera housing by fastening the anti-drop cable to the housing. Tighten the two security screws (figure 19). Figure 13 Figure 14 Step 15: Attach the Trim Ring to the Ceiling Mount Bracket. Note: There are two magnets on the back of the Trim Ring (figure 20). To attach the Trim Ring, place it gently on the In-Ceiling Mount and adjust the position, avoiding the spots with screws from the magnets. Figure 16 Figure 15 9

10 Indoor Wall Mounting The FortiCam FD40 supports wall mounting. The following items and tools are required for indoor wall mounting: FCM-FD4-WMB Wall Mount Bracket Indoor Kit Content: Wall Mount Bracket Plastic Screw Anchor (x2) M4x25 Self-tapping Screw (x2) M4x8 Mechanical Screw (x2) Tools Needed: Tools for drilling (+) Screw Driver Allen Key (supplied) Note: For protection against insects and dust, install a gland. Follow the steps below to install wall mount bracket. Step 1: Place the wall mount bracket on the desired installation location. Figure 1 Step 2: Mark the position of the two screw holes on the wall with a pencil (figure 1). Figure 2 10

11 Step 3: Draw a line along the top edge of the wall mount bracket (figure 2). Remove the bracket and drill a hole in the wall large enough to feed the cables through. The hole should be located between the two screw locations. Figure 3 Step 4: Drill holes through the marked screw positions. The holes should be slightly smaller than the plastic screw anchor. Insert the plastic screw anchors into the holes. Step 5: Place the wall mount bracket on the wall using the two screw holes and the marked line along the top as a guide. Fasten the wall mount bracket to the wall with the supplied M4x25 self-tapping screws. Step 6: Thread all cables through the hole in the wall and the wall mount bracket. 11

12 Step 7: Loosen the two secruity screws on the camera (figure 4) with the supplied Allen Key and open the dome cover. Figure 4 Step 7: Loosen the two screws on the camera module (figure 5) and remove the camera module from the camera housing (figure 6). Figure 5 Figure 6 Step 8: Fasten the camera housing to the wall mount bracket with the supplied M4x8 mechanical screws (figure 7). Figure 7 12

13 Step 9: Reattach the camera module to the camera housing. Align the two screw holes and fasten the screws. Step 10: Connect the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 connector of the camera (figure 8). To connect the power, alarm I/O and audio I/O cables, please refer to the User s Manual. Figure 8 Step 11: Adjust the pan, tilt, and spin holders on the camera to point the camera in the desired direction. Note: The pan adjustment angle is nearly 360. The tilt adjustment angle is between 0 ~ 80. The spin adjustment angle is between -100 ~ 100. 14 Step 12: Attach the dome cover to the camera. Align the arrow on the dome cover with the one on the camera housing (figure 11) and fasten the two security screws. Figure 11 Figure 12 14

15 Pendant Cap Installation The FortiCam FD40 is compatible with the standard / compact pendant arm mount with pendant cap. The pendant cap is also compatible with the FCM-SD2-ST25 Straight Tube 25CM Mount Kit. Before beginning installation, attach the mounting accessory to the desired location. Pendant Cap Package Contents: Pendant Cap Spring Washer-8 (x1) Pendant Tube Washer-8 (x1) Rubber Washer-8 (x1) M8x16 Hex Head Stainless Steel Screw (x1) M4x8 Mechanical Screw (x2) Rubber Ring (x1) Tools Needed: Tools for drilling (+) Screw Driver Spanner Silicone Gel Allen Key (supplied) Note: For protection against insects and dust, install a gland in the rear entry. To install the camera with a standard/compact pendant mount: Step 1: Run all necessary cables through the pendant mount arm. Figure 1 15

16 Step 2: Insert the other end of the cables through the cable entry hole in the wall. Align the screw holes on the pendant mount with the drilled holes and fasten the four M6 / M7 / M8 self-tapping screws. Step 3: Insert the supplied rubber ring to the cable entry hole of the pendant cap. Figure 2 Figure 3 Step 4: Thread the cables through the pendant cap (figure 4). Figure 4 16

17 Step 5: Attach the pendant cap to the pendant mount arm by aligning the screw hole on the joint with the one on the pendant cap and then twisting the pendant clockwise (figure 5). Figure 5 Step 6: Insert the spring washer-8, followed by the pendant tube washer, and then the rubber washer-8 to the supplied M8x16 hex head stainless steel screw (figure 6). Fasten the screw (figure 7). Figure 6 Figure 7 Step 8: Loosen the thread-lock sealing nut of the cable gland. Thread all cables through the sealing nut and the gland body (figure 9). Figure 9 17

18 Step 9: Loosen the two security screws on the cover with the supplied Allen Key and open the dome cover (figure 10). Figure 10 Step 10: Thread the cable through the cable gland and the back conduit entry of the camera housing. Connect the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 connector of the camera. Step 11: Fasten the gland body to the back conduit entry. Tighten the thread-lock sealing nut to the gland body with a spanner. Figure 11 Step 12: Seal the end of the thread-lock sealing nut with silicone gel. Ensure there is no gap between the sealing rubber and the cables to protect the unit from water. Figure 12 18

19 Step 13: Loosen the two screws of the camera module (figure 13), disconnect the Ethernet cable and remove the camera module from the camera housing (figure 14). Figure 13 Figure 14 Step 14: Attach the camera housing to the pendant cap with the supplied M4x8 mechanical screws (figure 15). Figure 15 Step 15: Place the camera module back on the camera housing. Align the two screw holes of the camera and fasten the two screws. Step 16: Connect the necessary cables. 19
