12 Information : ClearLine tips YOUR SOLUTION FOR LIQUID SAMPLES Aerosols : a significant cross-contamination risk For some sensitive applications, such as PCR, the smallest amount of unwanted DNA in the pipette creates a significant risk of sample contamination, altering your results. An aerosol can be defined as the dispersion of solid or liquid particles suspended in a gas. Without filter tips these particles can be introduced by air movement in the pipette and present a significant risk of cross contamination. Quality and reliability of ClearLine filter tips Made from medical grade virgin polyethylene, the ClearLine tip filters are subject to very strict quality controls: pore size, accurate positioning in the tip, fibre density, chemical compatibility and purity of the resin. Each step is strictly controlled. The blocking efficiency of DNA and PCR aerosols by the ClearLine filter tips were tested by independent laboratories 1. This was also done for radioactive aerosols 2. 1 (Cat. N : Application Note 32301, filtered pipette tip DNA and PAC Aerosol Blocking, Sorenson BioScience, Inc). 2 (Cat. It also preserves the sample. Unlike other filter tip brands, the ClearLine filter does not trap the sample if you accidentally over pipette. The ClearLine filter will allow recovery of the uncontaminated sample. This advantage is especially important when the sample is unique, unusual or when made with expensive reagents. 10
