Follow the below steps to set your ClareVision camera to record to the SD card. Note: We do not recommend continuous recording to an SD card. The card s read/write capabilities are limited and you will need to replace it frequently. Configuring motion detection Motion detection is a feature in which the camera, responding to an alarm, records the video when motion occurs in the surveillance scene. To set the motion detection area: 1. Enter the motion detection settings interface. Configuration > Camera Configuration > Events > Motion Detection 2. Select both the Enables Motion Detection checkbox and the Enable Dynamic Analysis for Motion checkbox. Doc ID REV 01 1 / 7

2 3. Click Draw Area, and then click and drag the mouse on the live video image to draw a motion detection area. Once clicked, the Draw Area button becomes the Stop Drawing button. 4. Click Stop Drawing to finish drawing. or Click Clear All to clear all of the areas and draw a new area. 5. Adjust the Sensitivity slider to set the sensitivity of the detection. Moving the slider toward the right increases sensitivity and moving the slider to the left decreases it. Arming schedule for motion detection Set the arming schedule for motion detection. Select the days and times that you want motion detection to trigger an alarm. You can configure four periods each day. The periods cannot overlap. Doc ID REV 01 2 / 7

3 Figure 1: Arming schedule screen To set the arming schedule for motion detection: 1. Click Edit. The Edit Schedule Time dialog displays. 2. Click the desired day tab (Mon through Sun). 3. Click the button in the Start Time field and enter the time, and then click the button in the End Time field and enter the time. Do this for each desired period (up to four). Doc ID REV 01 3 / 7

4 4. Repeat steps 2 through 3 for each day. or Select the checkbox for each day that you want to copy the same scheduled periods to, and then click Copy. 5. Click OK to save the settings. Setting the alarm actions for motion detection Specify the linkage method in the Linkage Method dialog. The linkage method is the response to an event. Figure 2: Linkage method selection To enable alarm actions: 1. Select the Notify Surveillance Center and Trigger Channel checkboxes. The Notify Surveillance Center method sends an exception or alarm signal to remote management software when an event occurs. The Trigger Channel method records when motion is detected. Set the recording schedule to realize this function. This can be set to record to the SD card. 2. Click the Save button. Configuring a record schedule Configure the recording schedule to enable recording. To configure a recording schedule: 1. Enter the Record Schedule Settings interface. Configuration > Camera Configuration > Storage > Record Schedule Doc ID REV 01 4 / 7

5 2. Select the Enable Record Schedule checkbox to enable scheduled recording. 3. Set the recording parameters of the camera. Pre-record: This is the time you set to start recording before the scheduled time for the event. For example, if an alarm triggers recording at 10:00, and the pre-record time is set as 5 seconds, the camera starts to record at 9:59:55. The Pre-record time can be configured as No Pre-record, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 25 seconds, 30 seconds, or not limited. Post-record: The time you set to stop recording after the scheduled time for the event. For example, if an alarm triggered recording ends at 11:00, and the post-record time is set as 5 seconds, the camera records until 11:00:05. The Post-record time can be configured as 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes. Doc ID REV 01 5 / 7

6 Note: The record parameter configurations vary depending on the camera model. 4. Click Edit to edit the record schedule. 5. Choose the day to set the record schedule. 6. Click OK. To set the record settings to an SD card: 1. Enter the Storage Management interface. Configuration > Camera Configuration > Storage > Storage Management 2. In the HDD Device List, select the SD card s checkbox. Verify that the card is formatted. If the SD card is not formatted, click the Format button. Doc ID REV 01 6 / 7
