2 STARTING PEBBELL 2 STARTING PEBBELL 2 Thank you for purchasing PEBBELL 2 GPS. PEBBELL 2 is especially built for real time monitoring and it can be used in all walks of life from traveling, lone worker protection to specialized care and security service. It is suitable for children, elderly, persons suffering from dementia, patients but also outdoorsmen and sportsmen etc. Using latest advanced GPS and wireless technology combined with IPX6 Waterproofness and an innovative miniature size brings safety and less stress. You can, in case of need, communicate your PEBBELL(s) exact position where it is or where it can be found. You can request position, set tracking and area tracking of the device(s), and view your PEBBELL(s) position on map. PEBBELL can be used with any Smartphones and you do not need to install any applications**. The device is designed for use on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHZ networks. You can use it also in all countries worldwide where HoIP Telecom has a SIM roaming contract. The device also includes integrated high-performance U-blox 7 GPS receiver (AGPS support). (**exception: Live Tracking Android Mobile Client). 1

7 DEVICE CHARGING The PEBBELL 2 device is equipped with an internal rechargeable battery. The autonomy of the battery may vary depending on the GPS and GSM activity and the use of the device. When charging for the first time use, please fully charge the battery for around 2~3 hours, using the USB charger or using the docking station to charge. o o o Place the device on the docking station Connect the Micro USB side of the cable to the docking station port and connect the other end of the cable to the designated AC power source (USB/AC adaptor) When charging the RED LED (on docking station) will be blinking (solid). After fully charged, the RED LED WILL be SOLID Note: A wrong charger may damage the device. Use only the original PEBBELL charger. The ideal temperature range for charging is between +10 C and +30 C. The battery life might be shortened if charging the battery below or above those temperatures. 6

8 LOW BATTERY ALARM When the unit s battery is less than 15%, it will send an SMS alarm BAT: LOW! to all authorized numbers. If battery is less than 15%, the blue light will flash rapidly to warn the user to charge the device as soon as possible. SWITCHING THE DEVICE ON To turn on the device: Press the side power button for 1 second, all the LEDs will flash rapidly. Device can also be turned on automatically by charging via USB or put into the docking station To get an initial location, use outdoors or near a window so the device may fix onto the satellites. SWITHCING THE DEVICE OFF To turn off the device: Press and hold the side button and SOS button together for 1 seconds until the LEDs are off 7

10 SET THE AUTHORIZED NUMBER 1 Send SMS Command: A1 or A1, phone number Note: With no spaces in the text, case-insensitive. Using your mobile phone, send A1 to the phone number of the device, it will reply: Set mobile number 1 OK! To delete this number, you can send A0 to the tracker. NOTE: It is not mandatory for all three of the authorized numbers to be set, however a minimum of one must always be set. 2Send SMS Command: B1 or B1, phone number (Example: B1, ) Using your mobile phone, example send B1, to the phone number of the device. It will reply: Set mobile number 2 OK! To delete this number, you can send B0 3Send SMS Command: C1 or C1, phone number (Example: C1, ) Using your mobile phone, example send C1, to the phone number of the device. It will reply: Set mobile number 3 OK! To delete this number, you can send C0 9

11 ACTIVATING SOS BUDDY ALARM Press and hold the SOS button for 3 seconds until the device vibrates, and then green light will start to flash rapidly to confirm the request. After that, an SOS Alarm Help me SMS message with LOCATION COORDINATES is send to all authorized phone numbers. It will also dial the 3 authorized numbers in sequence. If the device fails to connect to the first (A1) number, it will call the second (B1) one. In case the second number fails to be connected as well, the device will call to the third (C1) number. If device fails to dial all 3 numbers, it will start dial the numbers again after 5 minutes. This will continue until one of the phones numbers answer the call. To end the call, press the SOS button MAKING A NORMAL PHONE CALL To make a normal call, press and hold the side button for 3 seconds and you will hear a beep. The green light will flash rapidly to confirm the request and then it will dial the call to C1 number. To end the call, press the SOS button 10

12 RECEIVING A NORMAL PHONE CALL To receive a normal call (only from authorized A1, B1 or C1 numbers), Pebbell will vibrate, then press SOS button and this opens the call. To end the call, press the SOS button. LISTEN-IN (Voice wiretapping) Send SMS Command: L1 (Default L0) A1, B1, C1 can make a silent call to the device, the PEBBELL answers the call automatically and allows the caller to hear what is happening around the device. There is no voice indication that the call is in progress. To turn off this function, please send L0 to the device. USER DEFINED NAME IN PEBBELL SMS CONTENT Send SMS Command: NAME1, user name (Default PEBBELL) Example: NAME1, PET PLUG, the tracker will reply Add name ok! To delete name send NAME0 11

13 TURN OFF THE LEDs Send SMS Command: LED1 The device will reply LED off and later LEDs will stop flashing, but the device is actually on. To turn off this function, please send LED0 MODIFY THE TIME ZONE Send SMS Command: TZ+ +00/-00 Note: UTC time has been set as default time. Note: The time must be amounts in 2 digits and at maximum 23 hours in value. + in the time zone portion of the text indicates east. The symbol - in the time zone indicates west. Example: TZ+02, the system will add 2 hours based on the UTC time (CET Time Zone) TZ-02, the system will minus 2 hours based on the UTC time. 12

Reply with coordinates and web link Send SMS Command: LOC The device will reply Time: xxxxx; Lat: xxxx; Lon: xxxx; Spd: xxxxx, Altitude:xxxx Bat: xxx and a link to google map: STARTING PEBBELL 2 maps.google.com/maps?q= , By clicking on the link the location will be shown directly on Google Map on your mobile phone (Mobile phone needs to be connected to internet) 13

Reply with Address (not in standard usage) Send SMS Command: add The device will reply with an address e.g. Add: Coombe Lane, Awbridge, SO51 0HN Hampshire, UK; Notes: This function needs DATA server function support to activate, please contact CELL LOCATE The unit can be tracked by GSM base station tower, If GPS signal is not available. However, as compared to GPS satellite, GSM accuracy is proven to be way worse, than that of GPS. With some regional areas having errors of 300M-5KM! Send SMS Command: CL1 The device will reply Cell locate on! To turn off this function, please send CL0 14

16 OVER-SPEED ALARM Send SMS Command: SPEED1, +speed (Default SPEED0) Notes: The speed must be in km/h in 2 or 3 digitals ( km/h) Example: SPEED1, 100 STARTING PEBBELL 2 Suppose the over-speed alarm we want to set is 100 km/h, when the device exceeds 100 km/h, it will send the message Over-Speed! + GPS info to all preset authorized numbers. To turn off this function, please send SMS Command SPEED0 to the device GEO-FENCE ALARM Send SMS Command: G+X, Y, Z, xxxm/km (Default G0) Example: G1,1,1,100M Notes: No spaces in between. X=No. of Geo fence (1~3), user can set 3 Geo fences Y=0 means to turn off the function Y=1 means to turn on the function Z=1 means to set alarm when the tracker enters the preset area Z=0 means to set alarm when the tracker breaches the district 15

17 xxx is the preset distance to the tracker s original place, must be 3 digitals. M means meters, KM means kilometers The device will send the message to the authorized numbers as Geo fence alarm!+gps info when it enter the area you set (User must set this function when the blue light is flashing rapidly.) To turn off this function, please send SMS G1,0 or G2,0 or G3,0 The settings must be at least 100 meters MOVEMENT ALERT Send SMS Command: M1, xxxm/km (Default M0,0) Notes: xxx must be 3 digitals. M means meters, KM means kilometers The tracker must be stationary when setting this function Example: M1, 100M When the tracker moves beyond 100 meters, it will send an SMS alarm to the preset numbers. To turn off this function, please send M0 to the device. The settings must be at least 100 meters 16

18 MOTION ALARM Send SMS Command: V1, xx S/M/H (Default V0) STARTING PEBBELL 2 Note: No spaces in between, S means seconds, M means minutes, H means hours, xx means the time you set and must be two digitals. Example: V1, 05M If user turns on this function, the device will detect motion every 5 minutes and will send an SMS warning alarm to all registered phone numbers. To turn off this function, please send V0 FALL DETECTION SMS Command: FL1 (Default FL0) Device must senses both impact and angle, after that, device must remain in a lying position after 10 seconds, it will raise alarm a simple fall may cause a devastating consequence. A Fall Sensor can help you get immediate help without missing any important moment. To turn off this function, please send FL0 17

19 AGPS Send SMS Command: AGPS1 (Default on) A-GPS is for accelerated positioning and helping position a device when GPS signals are weak or not available. GPS satellite signals may be impeded by tall buildings, and do not penetrate building interiors well. A-GPS uses proximity to cellular towers to calculate position when GPS signals are not available. To turn off this function, please send AGPS0 AGPS WITH KNOWN POSITION Send Command: AGPS1, latitude, longitude Example: AGPS1, , To turn off this function, please send AGPS0 18

20 GPS SIGNAL LOST AND RECOVERY ALERT Send SMS Command: GR1 (Default GR0) The device will automatically send the latest available GPS information to the preset numbers when it enters into the area without GPS signal. If user goes into an area that does not have a GPS signal, such as a tunnel, cave, parking garage, etc. the device will know where user was 10 minutes before they went into such an area. This is critical! If a child goes missing you ll be able to know the closest possible location before the GPS signal was lost. With any SMS sent during the period without GPS signal, the device will reply GPS information to preset numbers soonest as the GPS signal is covered. To turn off this function, please send GR0 STARTING PEBBELL 2 NOTE: this can generate many SMS messages 19

21 CHECK SETTINGS Send Command: STATUS The device will reply E.g. A+44xxxxxxxxxx B+44xxxxxxxxxx C+44xxxxxxxxxx;Speed: 0,110km/h; GEO: 0,0,0; VB: 0,0S; MV:0,0; LBS: 1; LED: 0; Z:0; TZ: 2.0; LI: 0; PS:1; DS:0,15M; FL: 1; Bat: 61% ; SMS: 1; LOCK: 0 To recognize the meaning of 0 & 1 The number 0 implies that the function is turned off; while 1 indicates that the function is turned on. 20

22 DEVICE POWER MODES 1. No Power saving mode Send Command: PS0 In this mode, both GSM and GPS are on, battery can last 18~36 hours. STARTING PEBBELL 2 2. Smart Power saving mode Send SMS Command: PS1 (Default mode) In this mode, the GSM chip is working and receives calls, SMS and transmits location. The GPS chip is activated by motion, incoming calls and SMS. The GPS chip is off when there is no movement or no phone usage. Battery life is not wasted when the device isn't moving. Under normal use, battery can last 4 ~ 8 days. 3. Deep Sleeping mode Send SMS Command: DS1 Both GSM and GPS chip will shut down to save power, the device is unable to receive calls or SMS. 21

23 It can be only activated by movement. Once movement is detected, it will run for the set time (15 minutes) and sleep again if no movement is detected. Battery can last 40 days if no movement at all. To turn off this function, send DS0 REBOOT DEVICE Send SMS Command: REBOOT The device will reply: REBOOT OK Note: The device will restart itself without changing any settings. INITIALIZATION Send SMS Command: RESET! The device will reply: RESET OK Note: This is to make all settings back to the factory default. 22

24 LOCK YOUR PEBBELL - PIN LOCK Send SMS Command: lock (Default password is ) STARTING PEBBELL 2 After you send this command, then it will require a password in front of all commands (except reboot and RESET!). For example LOC, A1 etc. Remove password protection, just simply send SMS Command: unlock CHANGE PASSWORD Send SMS Command: Old password + H + new password Example: H The password now is changed to Notes: The pre-set password won t be erased by changing a new sim card. BUILT IN MEMORY The device built in 8MB flash memory inside. It will store the GPS information when do not have GSM network coverage (i.e., very low population density areas, some mountainous terrain, underground areas etc.). The device will transmit GPS locations to the WEB server automatically once the GSM network is recovered. 23

26 ORIGINAL PEBBELL 2 WARRANTY STARTING PEBBELL 2 Manufacture s limited warranty HoIP Telecom warrants to the original retail purchaser ( Consumer or You ) that this HoIP Telecom PEBBELL 2 device and all accessories originally provided by HoIP Telecom in the sales package ( Product ) are free from defects in materials, design and workmanship under normal use in accordance with the operating instructions and pursuant to the following terms and conditions. HoIP Telecom warrants to you that during the warranty period HoIP Telecom or a HoIP Telecom authorized service company will in a commercially reasonable time remedy defects in materials, design and workmanship free of charge by repairing or, should HoIP Telecom in its discretion deem it necessary, replacing the Product in accordance with this Limited Warranty (unless otherwise required by law). Some limitations to the warranty service may apply because of country specific elements in the Products. This limited warranty extends only to the Consumer for Products purchased and used in the original country of purchase. The limited warranty is valid only in HoIP Telecom intended country of sales of the product. Warranty Period The warranty period starts at the time of Product s original purchase by the first end-user. The Product may consist of several different parts and different parts may be covered by a different warranty period (hereinafter Warranty Period ). The different Warranty Periods are: 1. Twelve (12) months for HoIP Telecom PEBBELL 2 device and three (3) months for accessories (whether included in the device sales package or sold separately) other than the consumable parts and accessories listed in 2) below; 25

Three (3) months for the following consumable parts and accessories: batteries and chargers As far as your national laws permit, the Warranty Period will not be extended or renewed or otherwise affected due to subsequent resale, HoIP Telecom authorized repair or replacement of the Product. However, part(s) repaired or replacement product during the Warranty Period will be warranted for the remainder of the original Warranty Period or for sixty (60) days from the date of repair or replacement, whichever is longer. How to get warranty service If you wish to make a claim under this Limited Warranty, please return your Product or the affected part (if it is not the entire Product) to a HoIP authorised service company. You can call a HoIP Customer Care (national or premium rates may apply) for further details or contact: sales@hoiptelecom.co.uk on how to make a claim. Information about HoIP authorised service companies can be found in the sales package, or at local PEBBELL or PEBBELL 2 web pages, where available. Any claim under this Limited Warranty is subject to you notifying HoIP or a HoIP authorised service company of the alleged defect within a reasonable time of it having come to your attention and in any event no later than before the expiry of the Warranty Period When making a claim under this Limited Warranty you will be required to provide: a) the Product (or the affected part) and b) the original proof of purchase, which clearly indicates the name and address of the seller, the date and place of purchase, the product type and the IMEI or other serial number. 26

28 What is not covered by the warranty? This warranty is not valid if the defects are due to damage, misuse, tampering, and neglect or lack of care and in case of alterations or repair carried out by unauthorised persons. Product that has been subjected to misuse, accident, neglect, shipping or other physical damage, improper installation, abnormal operation handling, access to incompatible sources, fire, liquid, moist or spills of food; or Damages from improper repair, testing, installation, operation, unauthorized software applications or any alteration or modification by anyone not authorized by HoIP; or Damages, defects or problems caused by uses with non-pebbell products or accessories; or Product that has reception or operation problems caused by signal conditions, network reliability or cable or antenna systems; or Product serial number has been removed, erased, altered or product returned without valid proof of purchase or which proof of purchase has been altered or is illegible. 30 FAQ STARTING PEBBELL 2 Q: Where can I buy Pebbell GPS Tracker? Pebbell devices are currently available through our HoIP Pebbell Store. Pebbell devices are also available thru our resellers/distributors around UK and Europe. It uses GPS for premium location capabilities and GSM network to transmit those positions. Our Mobile Network capability utilizes for the industry s best UK coverage. Q: Will the Pebbell GPS work anywhere? The Pebbell GPS is dependent upon two technologies GPS (Global Positioning System) and Mobile Networks (GSM). Anywhere you can receive both a GPS signal and have Mobile Network reception, the product will work. The subscription plans that are available through Pebbell GPS are based on usage in 32 EU Countries. 29

31 Q: Does the Pebbell GPS work the same in all locations? No. The Pebbell GPS works best in suburban areas such as neighborhoods, houses, schools, parks, and flatter regions. It can receive a GPS signal better in those areas because it has less obstruction to the GPS signal. The more direct line of sight the GPS has to the satellites, the more accurate the position will be. The Pebbell GPS will work on a limited basis in large cities where there are many high rise buildings. Tall buildings can block the line of sight from the product to the satellite and make it difficult for the product to update current location data. The subscription plans that are available through Pebbell GPS are based on usage in the Europe. If you are planning on leaving the country, then roaming charges will apply. Please keep in mind that different higher rates apply for different countries. Q: How far will the Pebbell GPS locate? If my child left our town or gone Scotland, will it tell me? Our system is designed to locate the Pebbell GPS anywhere in the UK (works also EU + World) If the product enters an area without GSM coverage, the GPS feature will not be able to report its current location until it re-enters an area with mobile network coverage. If you travel outside your respective country, then the product will use the roaming partners to transmit the products location. Please note that no roaming charges will apply in EU (HoIP SIM) Q: Can anyone track my Pebbell GPS? No. you will be able to list the 3 trusted individuals that you want to receive alerts. You can change or edit these individuals at any time as needed. 30

32 Q: What happens if there is no Mobile Networks coverage in the area? The product will not work in any area that does not have Mobile Network coverage GSM) Q: Pebbell Geo-Fence - how does it work? Pebbell Geo-fencing is the practice of using global positioning (GPS) to define a geographic boundary. Then, once this virtual barrier is established, the administrator can set up triggers that send a text message, alert, or app notification when Pebbell device enters (or exits) the specified area. The use of a geo-fence is called geo-fencing, and one example of usage involves a Pebbell device user entering or exiting a geo-fence. This activity could trigger an alert to the device's user as well as messaging to the geo-fence operator. This info, which could contain the location of the device, could be sent to a mobile telephone or an account. Q: How many contacts can be added to my device? The Pebbell Tracker can store three emergency contacts. A SOS text message is sent to all the registered contacts that contains key information about the status of the device as well as a Google Maps link, which shows the location of the wearer at the time of activation. The Pebbell two way speech also allows the wearer to talk into the pendant and directly communicate with their contact. If the first number doesn t answer the phone then the device will continue to dial the 2nd contact and in turn the 3rd contact. 31

33 Q: What method does the device use to send SOS alerts and make emergency calls? The device comes with a roaming Multi-Network SIM card with 2*, 5* or 10*(*varies with resellers) credit allowing you to quickly get to grips with the tracker. Pebbell comes with a built-in, Chargeable 3.7V 900mAh battery. Current power usage on Standby mode is 2mAh. In normal usage the battery lasts usually over 8 days depending how active you use the Pebbell. Pebbell has a built in 3D G-sensor, when G-sensor detect there is no movement or motion in 5 minutes, device will goes into sleeping mode for power saving, if there is a slightly movement or vibration, violent collision or strong impact, i.e. someone touch your device or the device move slightly, normal walking, elderly/teenager falling, car accident, tow-away warning, incoming call, SMS etc., the device will be activated by G-sensor and start to work immediately. Q: What is the warranty for Pebbell? We offer a limited warranty that the hardware will be free from defects in material and workmanship when used normally and in accordance with our instructions. To the extent 32

34 permitted by applicable law, the limited warranty offered by us is limited for a period of twelve (12) month from the date of purchase. If the time limitation of twelve (12) month from the date when the hardware was purchased is in non-compliance with mandatory law, we offer a limited warranty in accordance with the minimum permitted by mandatory law. Once you ve purchased your Pebbell follow an easy three-step process. The location of Pebbell is determined through the utilization of the GPS satellite systems. Pebbell position is sent back as SMS and opening the SMS link then indicates the position on a map. This position can be viewed via the Internet or on a smartphone. Q: What are geo-fences? Geo-fences are virtual perimeters for real geographic areas. The Pebbell allows you to draw geofences in order to indicate safe zones. If your child goes too close to the perimeter or leaves the safe zone area, you will receive an alert via your phone. 33
