8 Notes Directions for correct operation of the TelephoneSystem If there is a high electrical disturbance field, the transfer quality of internal and/or external telephone connections may be affected for the duration of any error. The type and scope of the defect depends on the characteristics of the connected terminals. The ISDN TelephoneSystem is designed for operation on multi-device ISDN lines in accordance with DSS1 Euro-ISDN Protocol. Using the System on other connection may cause malfunctions. The ISDN TelephoneSystem has been developed and produced in accordance with the Information Technology Equipment Safety norm (EN 60950). Only devices complying with this or an equivalent directive may be connected to the ISDN TelephoneSystem. Installation work must be carried out by a professional. Installation work on the 230v mains network must be carried out by a qualified electrician. VDE 0100 must be observed. If functional difficulties occur detach the mains plug from the power supply and disconnect the ISDN connection on the NT. The ISDN TelephoneSystem may not be installed or operated in the following environments: out of doors in damp or wet rooms (bathroom, shower, swimming pool, etc...) in environments where there is a risk of explosion in direct sunlight where the ambient temperature is lower than 0 C or higher than 40 C in locations subject to severe shaking or vibration in surroundings that are subject to dust Lay the connecting cables carefully to avoid any danger of tripping. The connecting cables must not be subjected to excessive pulling, bending or mechanical loading. The ISDN TelephoneSystem can not function when there is a power failure or if the mains plug has been pulled out. However all settings remain stored and are available again when the mains voltage is restored or the mains plug is reconnected. You can use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to provide power to the system if mains power fails for several hours. 8

9 Notes Connection authorisation The ISDN TelephoneSystem has general connection authorisation, which enables anyone to operate this ISDN TelephoneSystem. It is not necessary to notify your telephone company. Environmental compatibility Provided the phone is used for its intended purpose, no contact with harmful substances is possible. The plastics from which this phone is made consist of partrecycled granulate. Our packaging contains no plastics. We use only cardboard and paper made from part-recycled material. 9

10 Introduction Introduction What is the purpose of the tiptel 412 USB ISDN TelephoneSystem? Congratulations on acquiring the tiptel 412 USB ISDN TelephoneSystem. The TelephoneSystem connects analogue devices such as your telephone, fax or modem to your digital telephone network (ISDN). This means that you can continue to use existing analogue devices because these can not be connected directly to the ISDN. The integrated internal S0-bus also gives you the option of, for example, connecting ISDN telephones to the TelephoneSystem and of carrying out free internal calls between your ISDN and analogue telephones. In addition, your new ISDN TelephoneSystem has an integrated PC-ISDN adapter which provides rapid Internet access, fax and answering machine operations. 10

11 Installation and conversion Installation and start-up If you wish to do so, you can wall-mount your ISDN TelephoneSystem. You will find more information on this in the Wall mounting appendix. Please ensure that the mains plug has been disconnected from the power supply before opening the device. 1. First of all connect your devices to the analogue ports P1 P4 (either via the integrated Western socket or via the P1-P4 connection terminals). If you also wish to connect an ISDN device (e.g. ISDN telephone) you connect it to the "internal S0" socket. If you are using ISDN-BUS cabling, one end can be inserted directly into the connection and this enables you to connect up to eight ISDN devices. 2. Connect the ISDN TelephoneSystem to the ISDN network. To do this, connect the 4-pole connection cable with the "external S0" connection. Insert the other cable plug into the NTBA. 3. If you would like to use the ISDN TelephoneSystem to transfer data and access the Internet or you wish to configure the system via your PC you can now connect the PC. Otherwise continue from Point "4". Connect the narrow plug on the PC-USB connection cable to a free USB socket on your PC. Connect the other end of the cable to your TelephoneSystem. 11

12 Installation and conversion 4. Connect all devices to the mains power. The "LCR/DATA" LED flashes slowly when a proper connection to the ISDN network is possible. The ISDN connection is not made properly if the LED blinks with a brief on long off rhythm. Check the connection. Only continue the installation if the LED flashes slowly. 5. If you do not wish to use the data functions offered by the ISDN TelephoneSystem or the options for PC configuration, continue from Point "11". Windows recognises the tiptel 412 USB when it has been connected to the USB port and requests the corresponding "driver" for the device that has been connected. At this point the tiptel 412 USB CD should already be placed in the CD-ROM drive. Click on "Continue" and allow Windows to locate the relevant driver for the device. Click the "CD-ROM drive" option and confirm the driver that has been selected. The CD will start automatic installation. If you are using Windows XP or 2000 you may see a message that the driver has not been certified. Nevertheless continue the installation. If you have not yet connected the TelephoneSystem, proceed as follows: Insert the CD provided into the CD drive on your PC. If installation does not start automatically, click on "Start/Run" and enter "D:\START.EXE" (where "D:" is the letter that designates your CD-ROM drive). Select which components are to be installed automatically: If you wish, complete Internet access will be set up for you. The PC has to be re-started several times during installation. Simply confirm any security queries. If you have selected automatic Internet access you can start surfing immediately by double-clicking on the "Internet Explorer" icon. The "LCR/DATA" LED flashes when a data connection is active. The "enter:now" program provides convenient fax and answering machine functions on your PC. The "Tiptel Manager" enables you to set the TelephoneSystem's functions conveniently from your ISDN TelephoneSystem. 6. Now make your first telephone call. Lift the receiver of one of the phones that you have connected. The default setting is for each device to have an "internal" dial tone. This means that you can call one telephone connected to P1 port directly from another that is connected to the P2 port on your system, e.g. by dialling "22". If you want to call an "external" number, i.e. a call via your telephone company, you must first dial "0" (zero). You will then hear the familiar dial tone. For example, if you wish to call "0221 / " dial on your telephone Simply replace the receiver to end a call. 12

13 Basic settings (fast start) Basic settings (fast start) In this section you will find information about the basic settings of your ISDN TelephoneSystem. The steps described here mainly relate to installation on an ISDN Point-to-Multipoint access. If you want to install your TelephoneSystem on the Pointto-Point access please read the Operating on the Point-to-Point access chapter first. Overview of the basic settings (delivery status of the TelephoneSystem) The ISDN TelephoneSystem is supplied with the following default settings: Setting to Point-to-Multipoint access The analogue ports P1, P2, P3 and P4 are preset with the internal extension numbers 21, 22, 23 and 24 The extension numbers from 40 to 49 are found on the internal S0-bus The extension numbers from are assigned for data connections to the USB port Extension 29 is selected for remote activation No MSN is saved so all extensions ring when external calls are received All extensions can make external calls Automatic access to an external line for the telephone ports is off (dial 0 to get an outside line) Automatic outside line for the USB port on (for Internet, fax etc.) Call number notification switched on for external incoming and outgoing calls. 15 Basic settings (fast start) Configuring the ISDN TelephoneSystem You can change the settings for your ISDN TelephoneSystem from any connected telephone or from your PC with the "412 Manager" program. There follows a description of the basic configuration by telephone. Then the basic configuration by PC is described. The following basic configuration is aimed at installing a Point-to-Multipoint access because this is the most common type of constellation. If you want to install your TelephoneSystem on the Point-to-Point access please read how to do so in the Operating on the Point-to-Point access chapter. If you have connected the tiptel 412 USB TelephoneSystem to the ISDN network each incoming call to the MSN is automatically assigned to the 21-24, 40 and 50 extensions, i.e. the tiptel 412 USB can be used immediately after connection without further configuration. Basic configuration by telephone The commands are protected by a "PIN" (Personal Identification Number) so that unauthorised people are not able to change the settings on your ISDN TelephoneSystem. To configure your system: 1. Pick-up the telephone receiver. You will hear an internal dial tone. 2. Dial - the configuration code. Now, dial the PIN and confirm this with. The factory default setting for the PIN code is "0000". 3. Select one or more commands from the parameters you wish to change. Your ISDN TelephoneSystem has a particularly convenient dialog system that presents the current settings of many commands by voice message before you make changes. The new setting is then read to you when you make changes. If you hear the question "OK?" your TelephoneSystem is requesting you to confirm the new values by pressing or. The new values are only active after confirmation has been made. Your ISDN TelephoneSystem confirms that the change has been made with the message "Thank you". 4. You can make as many changes after each other without needing to redial the configuration code ( PIN ). 15

16 Basic settings (fast start) 5. Simply replace the receiver when you have completed configuration. Entering MSNs You can target which particular numbers are to ring by entering multiple subscriber numbers (MSN) in your ISDN TelephoneSystem. These MSNs are assigned by your network operator when you register your ISDN connection. In general at least three of these telephone numbers are included in the basic price of a Point-to-Multipoint access. So, for example, one MSN can be used for your fax, another for private calls and the third for business calls. As soon as you enter one or more MSNs in the system the devices on your TelephoneSystem will only ring for calls made to the entered MSN. You can enter as many MSNs as you wish. It is not essential to enter an MSN with up to 20 digits to test that the ISDN TelephoneSystem is operational. You can enter MSNs at any time. The call numbers for the 4 analogue extensions are pre-set by the factory. So extension 1 (P1) has the internal call number 21, extension 2 (P2) has the internal call number 22, extension 3 (P3) has the internal call number 23 and extension 4 (P4) has the internal call number 24. The extension numbers from 40 to 49 are found on the internal S0-bus. Call numbers are signalled to the PC connected via the USB port (no matter the software configuration used). 16

17 Basic settings (fast start) Setting up a telephone on the analogue extensions (P1-P4) How to enter your call numbers: Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. Enter settings code. Enter and confirm PIN (4 digits) Listen for programming tone. Command for MSN entry. MSN Enter new MSN and confirm with #. Extension Enter extension that should ring for this MSN and confirm with *. Replace receiver. Message "Thank you". Entry complete. MSN should ring to analogue port P1 (i.e. extensions 21). Repeat steps 4 to 6 to enter other MSNs and then replace the receiver. The extension assignment is deleted if you enter a instead of a after the extension number. MSN should NO LONGER ring to analogue port P1 (i.e. extension 21). Setting up an ISDN telephone on the internal S0-bus Two steps are required to set up a telephone connected to the internal S0-bus. Firstly, you must inform your ISDN telephone which extension number should ring. By default the extension numbers 40 to 49 are sent to the internal S0-bus, so you must enter a call number between 40 and 49 as the MSN in your ISDN telephone (please refer to the instructions for your ISDN telephone on how to do this). Then program your TelephoneSystem: 17

MSN should ring on the internal S0-bus. Select 40 for the extension number (so you have to set 40 as the MSN in your ISDN telephone). Repeat steps 4 to 6 to enter other MSNs and then replace the receiver. The extension assignment is deleted if you enter a instead of a after the extension number. MSN should NO LONGER ring on the 40 extension number. One MSN should ring on several extensions If you want several extensions to ring for one MSN you simply assign this MSN to several extensions. MSN should ring on the analogue extensions 21 (P1) and on the extension number 40 on the internal S0-bus. 18

19 Basic settings (fast start) Once you have entered the programming mode by pressing PIN you can make multiple programming changes without needing to enter PIN again. Please refer to the Set up call number plan chapter for a detailed description of further options for configuring the extensions. 19

20 Telephone System Functions TelephoneSystem Functions If you use an ISDN telephone you can also call up many of the following functions directly from the function menu on your ISDN telephone. Please consult the user manual of your ISDN telephone for this. Internal telephone calls Dialling internally To make an internal call: Lift receiver. Listen for internal dial tone. (e.g.) Dial internal subscriber number. You will hear the ringing or engaged tone. Conduct your call. Replace receiver. You are connected with the internal subscriber. The call is ended. Incoming internal calls When the telephone receives an internal call it will ring using the internal ringing tone. Conduct call 20

21 Telephone System Functions External telephone calls Obtaining an external line and dialling To make an external call: Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. Dial code for an external line. Listen for external dial tone. Call number Dial subscriber number. You will hear the ringing or engaged tone. Conduct your call. Replace receiver. You are connected with the external subscriber. The call is ended. You will hear the ringing or engaged tone after dialling the call number. Your telephone number is presented (CLIP). It is possible to suppress this function (refer to the Settings by telephone chapter). It only possible to "present" or "suppress" your call numbers if your connection supports this function. The ISDN TelephoneSystem automatically occupies a free B-channel for external calls. You will hear an engaged tone if both B-channels are engaged or your telephone has no access. Incoming external calls When the telephone receives an external call it will ring using the external ringing tone. Conduct call Holding external calls, request You can place an external call on hold. While a conversation is on hold you can make an enquiry in the room or even make an enquiry call. The caller on hold cannot listen in to the enquiry call. 21

22 Telephone System Functions If your ISDN connection does not support "holding" you can also set the ISDN TelephoneSystem so that external calls are held in your ISDN TelephoneSystem and not on the external line (default setting: held on external line) but this does use the second line. Other callers will hear the engaged tone. The held connection is lost if the telephone receiver is replaced during holding. You have an external call that you wish to "hold". To make an enquiry in the room press (the call moves to hold and you hear and internal dial tone.): Press for example to call internal subscriber 22. Press again to return to the held conversation. Brokering between two external calls If one connection already has an external call and another call is received you will hear a call-waiting tone. You can then hold the first call and accept the second call. You have an external call that you wish to "hold" in order to receive a second call. Press. The first call is held and the second call is connected. Return to the first call by pressing again and the second call will be held. You can toggle between the two external calls by pressing again (brokering). Ending the brokered call Press to hold the active call and end it by pressing. The other call is returned by pressing. 22

23 Telephone System Functions Transferring external calls to an internal extension You can transfer external calls to other subscribers. Press Flash. External call is held. (e.g.) Call internal extension. Listen for ringing tone. Conduct your call. Replace receiver. Talk to internal subscriber. Call is transferred to the internal subscriber. Extension 21 has an external call and wishes to transfer it to extension 22. Subscriber 21: Conduct call with extension 22. Extension 21 hangs up and extension 22 continues the call. If Telephone 1 is engaged, you will hear the engaged tone. If this occurs, press again to return to the external call and inform the caller that the call can not be transferred. When transferring a call, you do not have to wait for the internal party to answer. You can put down the phone as soon as you have dialled the number. Feature functions Pick-up When another telephone rings, you can take over the call with your own telephone (pick-up) in one of two ways. This command collects any call and connects you with the external caller. The command Extension collects a call from the specified extension. So if you want to pick-up a call from Extension 21, dial: 23

24 Telephone System Functions Pick-up existing connection It is also possible to pick-up an existing connection on your own phone. This can be used, for example, to pick-up a call from an answering machine if you realise that you do want to speak to the caller. The command for this is also Extension and the only difference is that the extension is already operating an active call (or, for example, the answering machine is already running). This extension must be authorised for you to pick-up an existing call from it. This is done with the command Extension. You will find a detailed description for this command in the Extension options chapter Conference with two external callers If you are brokering calls from two external callers on one connection (refer to "Brokering between two external calls"), you can also have a conference call with both external callers. Extension 21 is brokering calls with two external callers. He wants to carry out a conference call with the two callers. One external call is held. Extension 21 is speaking to the second external caller. Press to hold the active call. Press to start the conference. If one external caller replaces the receiver the call with the other external caller is continued. If your ISDN connection does not support "holding" or "three-way conferencing" you can also set the ISDN TelephoneSystem so that external calls and conferences are held in your ISDN TelephoneSystem (default setting: Held in outside line, refer also to "Holding" and "Three-way conference" in outside line / holding in the TelephoneSystem). This occupies a second B-channel. 24

25 Telephone System Functions Exchange Switching (ECT) The ISDN TelephoneSystem supports the ISDN ECT function that enables you to connect two external calls using an external line if your network operator supports this. You have one active call and one call put on hold in the exchange and want to connect the two external subscribers in the exchange. Press to hold both calls. Now press to connect in the exchange. The two callers are now connected to each other. Listen for engaged tone. Replace receiver. You can collect the calls again by pressing if the function is unsuccessful. Silent Telephone Each connection can be set so that the telephone does not ring when a call is received (idle mode, default: idle off). Callers hear an engaged tone. Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. Switch on idle mode Message "Thank you". or Switch off idle mode Replace receiver. Message "Thank you". Idle mode is switched off/on for internal and external calls. Reject call waiting Call waiting is when there is an existing call and another call is received for this connection. The call waiting is indicated by a signal sound in the receiver. You can reject the other call by entering. Return to your call by pressing. 25

26 Telephone System Functions Call diversion within the TelephoneSystem The ISDN TelephoneSystem provides the option of diverting calls to another telephone. A distinction is made between internal and external call diversion. Internal call diversion is when you forward calls for your telephone to a different internal telephone. External call diversion is when calls for a specific MSN are diverted to an external destination. For this you must state the MSN that is to be diverted and the call number to which calls are diverted. Both B-channels are occupied for external call diversion. You have to pay the charges from your connection to the connection to which calls are diverted. The caller only pays the charges incurred to connect to your connection. You can also state when call diversion should take place. There are three possibilities: Always: Calls are diverted immediately to the desired connection. Engaged: The calls are diverted to the desired connection if the number called is engaged. (To use this function you have to deactivate the "call waiting" feature because "call waiting" prevents a connection from being engaged). No answer: Calls that are not answered within 30 seconds are diverted to the desired connection. You will hear a special dialling tone when you lift the receiver if an extension has activated a diversion. Switching internal call diversion on/off Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. (e.g.) Call diversion "Always" Call diversion "No answer" Call diversion "Engaged" Enter the extension that is to receive the diverted calls. Replace receiver. Message "Thank you". Internal call diversion is activated. Calls are diverted to the telephone number you have entered. 26

27 Telephone System Functions You want to set permanent call diversion to internal extension 22. This is done as follows: Use the following command to deactivate call diversion. Switching external call diversion on/off Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. (e.g.) Call diversion "Always" Call diversion "No answer" Call diversion "If engaged" Enter the extension that is to receive the diverted calls (including local code). Replace receiver. Message "Thank you". Internal call diversion is activated. Calls are diverted to the telephone number you have entered. The maximum number of digits for call diversion is 20 characters. You want to set up call diversion to the external number whenever you do not pick-up a call. This is how to do it: Use the following command to deactivate call diversion set up by the command above. 27

28 Telephone System Functions Call forwarding The ISDN TelephoneSystem supports the ISDN call forwarding service. When call forwarding is activated all calls are forwarded to an external call number that you choose in advance. There are three types of call forwarding: Immediate call forwarding (CFU): Calls are forwarded immediately to the desired connection. Call forwarding when engaged (CFB) The calls are forwarded to the desired connection if the number called is engaged. Call forwarding when no response (CFNR): Calls that are not answered within 30 seconds are forwarded to the desired connection. Call forwarding must be activated by your network operator. You have to pay the charges from your connection to the connection to which calls are forwarded. The caller only pays the charges incurred to connect to your connection. You will hear a special dialling tone when you lift the receiver if an extension has activated a diversion. Switching on/off call forwarding immediate, when engaged, no answer You switch on call forwarding for an MSN as follows: Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. Call forwarding "Always" Call forwarding "No answer" Call forwarding "If engaged" Call number (e.g.) Enter the target telephone number There is no need to include a local dialling code because for call forwarding this is always an external call number. MSN Which MSN is to be forwarded Confirmation. Message "Feature has been activated". Replace receiver. Call forwarding is switched on. 28

29 Telephone System Functions Activate "call forwarding if engaged" for the MSN to the target number Use the following command to deactivate call-forwarding set up by the command above. If your telephone is set to "obtain outside line automatically", simply leave out the before the programming code. Automatic Call Back when engaged (CCBS) The ISDN TelephoneSystem supports the ISDN "Automatic Call Back when Engaged" (CCBS) feature. If you dial an external number and it is engaged you can request an automatic call back from the exchange that informs you that the target subscriber is now free. Then you lift the receiver and the target subscriber is dialled automatically. The CCBS service must be activated both by your network operator and that of the target subscriber. The exchange deletes the automatic call back if it is not possible to carry this out within around 45 minutes. A number you call is engaged and you want to set up an automatic call back. As soon as the number becomes free your telephone rings with a special tone. When you lift the receiver you will hear a dialling tone and the desired number is called automatically. Set outgoing number If you have set several numbers for an extension (see Call number plan chapter) you can stipulate the number to which the following action should apply or which number is used to make the next call by selecting the number command. 29

30 Telephone System Functions You have set up the 111, 20 and 66 numbers for one extension. You want to call extension 21 and appear as number 66 (so the next call is to be made with number 66). The subscriber is now called. Park call in the exchange It is possible to use the TelephoneSystem to park a call in the exchange. Then, for example, it is possible to continue the call on the same ISDN connection with an ISDN telephone at another location by collecting the call on the ISDN telephone. Carry out abbreviated dialling You can save up to 100 frequently used call numbers with up to 20 digits each as abbreviated dial numbers. These abbreviated numbers are accessible to each participant and are called up by dialling the code and stating the abbreviated dial memory numbers to (Refer also to Saving and deleting abbreviated dial numbers). Baby call function This function provides active room monitoring via your TelephoneSystem. After entering the command, the receiver is placed next to the telephone. Your TelephoneSystem monitors the volume in the room. If a certain noise level (it can be set from sensitive to insensitive) is exceeded for more than one second the (internal or external) number entered with the command is called and a connection is made. When this connection is ended by the person called, the monitoring remains active 31

To activate the baby call function: Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. Enter code for "baby call function". 0, 1, 2 or 3 Sensitivity setting from 0 = sensitive to 3 = insensitive Call number Number to be called if the noise level is exceeded. This may be internal or external (including local dialling code) call numbers Confirm entry Monitoring is switched on Replace receiver. Monitoring is ended. Activating the baby call function. It works like this: When the emergency function has been activated you hear a special dialling tone when you lift the receiver. If you dial within 5 seconds you get a normal internal dialling tone and can make normal calls. Otherwise after 5 seconds the selected emergency number is dialled and a connection is made. The emergency function remains in place even after an emergency call has been made. To activate the emergency function: Lift receiver. Listen for dial tone. Call number Enter code for "emergency function". Number to be called in an emergency. This may be internal or external (including local dialling code) call numbers Confirm entry Replace receiver. Activating the emergency function. If you lift the receiver and do not dial within 5 seconds, the external number is to be called: Use the following command to deactivate the emergency function. Enter within 5 seconds to get an internal dialling tone. 33

35 Settings via telephone (general overview) Settings via telephone (general overview) Access to the settings The settings of the ISDN TelephoneSystem can be changed to match the users' wishes: 1. conveniently via the supplied Windows software (recommended, refer to Setting the TelephoneSystem via Windows software). 2. via any telephone connected to an extension. There follows a description of the settings by telephone. All settings are saved if the mains power supply (230 V) fails. You have to enter a special access number (PIN) to change the settings. The default PIN supplied is You can change this PIN if required. To configure your system: 1. Pick-up the telephone receiver. You hear an internal dial tone. 2. Dial - the configuration code. Then dial the correct PIN. The factory default setting for the PIN code is "0000". 3. Select one or more commands from the parameters you wish to change. Your ISDN TelephoneSystem has a particularly comfortable dialog system that usually presents the current settings of many commands by voice message before you make the changes. The new setting is then read to you when you make changes. If you hear the question "OK?" you must confirm the new values by pressing or. The new values are only active after confirmation has been made. Your ISDN TelephoneSystem confirms that the change has been made with the message "Thank you". 4. You can make as many changes after each other without needing to dial the configuration code ( and PIN) again. 5. Simply replace the receiver when you have completed configuration. 35

The date and time are required for least cost routing and are received automatically from the ISDN network for outgoing calls. If the date and time are not transferred they can be set by hand. The entries must always be in two-digit format (e.g. for 7th August 2000, 17:05 : ) ). Blocking the transfer of date and time (0...1) Date/time received from ISDN, 0 = permitted (default), 1= blocked The TelephoneSystem has an internal clock. The date and time are required for least cost routing and are received automatically from the ISDN network for outgoing calls. If the date and time should not be transferred you can block their reception. 36

(0...1) Hold: 0 = internal (second B-channel), 1 = in outside line If your ISDN connection supports the "holding" or "three-way conference" feature you can also set the ISDN TelephoneSystem to "hold" external calls in the exchange line: In this case the "three-way conference" feature is also carried out in the exchange line. If your ISDN connection does not support "holding" in the exchange line it is cheaper to hold the calls or switch them to three-way conferencing in the TelephoneSystem. If you have set "holding" to internal, callers on hold will hear some music while they wait. Exchange authorisation Extension (0...3) External authorisation for extension = None, = Exchange (0), = Long distance calls (00), = International (000) Message for current setting Confirmation "Thank you". Exchange authorisation enables callers to make external calls. There are four different settings: 0 = None: The subscriber can only carry out internal calls (no leading 0 allowed) 1= Exchange: The caller can make local calls (maximum one leading 0, e.g ) 2= Long-distance: The caller can make local and long distance calls (maximum two leading 0, e.g and also )) 3 = International: The subscriber has no restrictions and can make local, national and international calls (e.g ). The default setting is full authorisation for all telephones (setting = 3). 37

The PIN is set to Exchange authorisation with service identification Fax Gr. 2/3 / Telephone Extension (0...1) Use the following service identification on the extension: 3.1 khz Voice = or Fax Group 2/3 = Message for current setting Confirmation "Thank you". If you wish to operate a fax device from an extension it is appropriate to mark outgoing calls with the "Fax Group 2/3" service code. The function can be switched between fax operation (= 1) and telephone (3.1 khz voice, = 0, default). "Call waiting" is switched off for fax operation. You wish to set up exchange authorisation with the service identification Fax Gr. 2/3 for extension 21. The PIN is set to Automatic exchange authorisation Extension (0...1) Automatic exchange authorisation for extension 1 3 on (1) / off (0) Message for current setting Confirmation "Thank you". Automatic exchange authorisation can also be selected for the internal connections. You then obtain an external dialling tone when you lift the receiver. This function is useful, for example, if you have connected a fax device. 38

On ISDN telephones lift the receiver, wait 10 seconds and you will get an internal dialling tone. You wish to set automatic exchange authorisation for extension 21. The PIN is set to If you want to go to the programming mode using PIN you have to do so from the internal dialling tone. Switching external signalling on/off Extension (0...1) External signalling for extension on (1) / off (0) Message for current setting Confirmation "Thank you". Incoming calls are signalled using the rhythm for external calls. It is possible to switch off external signalling. Then it is no longer possible to receive external calls. For example, you can ensure that external calls do not ring in a bedroom. It is possible, for example, to accept an external call in the bedroom when another telephone is ringing using the "pick-up call" function or by transferring between connections. You wish to switch off external signalling for extension 21. The PIN is set to

Numbers that start with a number on the blocked numbers list cannot be dialled (e.g numbers). You can use placeholders (*) to stand for any digit between Blocked numbers must not exceed 20 digits. It is not necessary to enter the number for an outside line (0). To delete a blocked number entry simply skip over entering the blocked number. The number is to be entered as a blocked number in position 03. The PIN is set to All numbers starting with 0190 are to be entered as blocked numbers in position 01. The exchange call costs are converted into a 16 khz charging pulse in the ISDN TelephoneSystem. Connected telephones can use the charging pulse to determine call costs (also refer to Entering charge factor and the instructions for the connected telephones). The telephones must be able to analyse the charging pulse. Your ISDN connection must provide charge information during the call (AOCD) or If you change extension during an outgoing call the charges will not continue to be transferred. Charging pulse for extension 21 should be activated. The PIN is set to Entering charging factor (NNN) Charging factor (NNN = numbers after the decimal point) Depending on the network operator and situation, external call charges are transferred either as call units as a sum of money. If call units are transferred, they can be implemented directly in the charging pulses by the TelephoneSystem. But if money sums are transferred the TelephoneSystem must convert them into the relevant number of charging pulses the aid of a charge factor (refer also to Charging pulse). You wish to enter a charge factor of 0.06 into the TelephoneSystem. The PIN is set to

When the CLIP setting is active the MSN you have selected for outgoing calls is transmitted. Your ISDN connection must support the feature (CLIP/CLIR) for the call number to be transferred. You may need to ask your network operator to activate this service. The MSNs available must be entered in the ISDN TelephoneSystem (Refer to "Entering multiple numbers"). Select the MSN that is to be transferred from "MSN assignment for transferring the call number for external calls". You wish to deactivate the transfer of your own call number for extension 21. The PIN is set to Transferring your own call number to the caller (COLP/COLR) Extension (0...1) COLP (ISDN) for extension on (1) / off (0) If an external caller calls you, you can decide whether the caller should see you telephone number when you accept the call (COLP) or not (COLR). When the COLP setting is active the MSN you have selected for outgoing calls is displayed as the number they have reached. 42

You wish to deactivate the display of your own call number to the caller for extension 21.
