1 G.E.A.R. Up for Technology Proficiencies Gauge-Educate-Accreditate-Results The goal of the Administrative Technology Proficiency Plan is to: Provide a roadmap for each administrative user, no matter what their current level To achieve success through knowledge and proficiency in the use of technology To provide the tools necessary to excel in their current job To develop skills needed in positions with greater responsibilities To improve the overall technology skill level of our district computer users. 2 GCCISD Technology Proficiencies This plan provides a total solution including the evaluation of technology skills through skills assessment, delivery of personalized online training for areas of need determined by the assessment, and measure of learning and growth through the comparison of pre and post training assessments. The technology skills assessment and training plan will be evaluated by the G.E.A.R. Evaluation Group assess the effectiveness of the plan prior to rolling it out to district administrative and paraprofessional staff. 3 G.E.A.R. Gauge The technology skills assessment and training plan was evaluated by the G.E.A.R. Evaluation Group assess the effectiveness of the plan prior to rolling it out to district administrative/paraprofessional staff. This plan provides a total solution including the evaluation of technology skills through skills assessment, delivery of personalized online training for areas of need determined by the assessment, and measure of learning and growth through the comparison of pre and post training assessments. Educate Training is required only in the areas of need determined by the assessment. Topics completed successfully in the assessment will be skipped thereby utilizing training time for the areas of need. This program will allow participants to advance at their own rate and reach higher levels in less time. Reports are available on each phase of the process to providing the required measurement tools. This process provides the opportunity for any participant to advance to the next level of technology growth if skills already exist. Accreditation Once training is complete, those interested in becoming experts in any or all Microsoft Office Applications will now have the knowledge required to prepare for certification. The MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification is through Certiport, a Microsoft partner. GCCISD is now an approved Certiport testing center and the certification exams can be scheduled and taken at the Green Center. This is an industry recognized certification. The first year of the MOS Certification was extremely successful. A total of 41 certifications were achieved and nine of those certifications were achieved by students in the Business Information Management classes. Our goal, with the combination of the assessment, training and certification program, is to see the skill level of GCCISD staff continually grow therefore increasing the productivity and value of each employee. Results Each year an analysis of pre assessment and post assessment scores will be analyzed to determine the growth of each employee participating in the program. Supervisors will be provided a report with the level of employee growth reflected in each technology category for use in annual evaluations. In addition, a record of professional development hours will be available to supervisors through Eduphoria Workshop, an application integrated with PDAS online evaluation program. 5 Assessment Process Log into CustomGuide using the following URLlogin.customguide.com/Gccisd Working in CustomGuides Full GCCISD address and the password is the word password Click the link to the Course link to begin the course and complete the assessment in the following order: 1. Click the link to the Course Name link on the left navigation pane to begin the course and complete the assessment in the following order: a. Click the Begin Course button at the top of the screen to begin the course. i. If you get all of the questions right, on all topics you are finished. If you missed any, the course will continue as follows. b. If you miss a question you will go directly to the Tutorial. c. Then to the PostAssess to demonstrate what you have learned. You have unlimited tries on the PostAssess questions. Note: Click on the icon to print written instructions for each topic. 2. It is not necessary to complete the entire assessment in one sitting since the assessment resumes with the last question answered. 3. Once you complete an entire application, register for that Proficiency through Eduphoria Workshop to request course credit. 9 3. Click the Course Content Tab. Then click the Chapter View Button. 4. Click the blue arrow to continue to the next topic. 5. Check at the top to see any files attached to the topic (View Topics). 6. If files are attached, click the Attachment to View. It may be a video or a PDF file. The Attachment opens. Instructor Notes At times there may be more information for you on the Instructor Notes Tab. Be sure to check for notes and/or files to help with the project. 11 Discussion Posts At times throughout the Proficiency ecourses, you may be asked to make a post to the Discussion Board. Begin by clicking the Discussion Tab. 1. To make a post under the Word Processing in the Classroom heading, first click on the Heading. The posts under that heading will then show. 2. To enter a comment for that post, click the Reply button. Enter your comment and click Save. 3. To Create a NEW POST, click the New Thread button. 4. Your post shows under the Heading. 15 Administrative Technology Proficiency Plan Expand Knowledge and Value through Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification As part of the Administrative Technology Training Plan Microsoft Certification will now be available. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in becoming experts in any or all Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. The MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification is through Certiport, a Microsoft partner. GCCISD is now an approved Certiport testing center and the certification exams can be scheduled and taken at the Green Center. This is an industry recognized certification. Upon completion of the Custom Guide application and after receiving credit in Eduphoria, the next step to Certification is practice the certification exam in Gmetrix. 1. Submit an e-work Order and select 4-Training Request. Include your Name; address; Campus In Specific Work Order Instructions, request Access to Gmetrix MOS Exam Prep 2. The key code and instructions will be ed to you and a work order will be created for your site technician to install GMetrix software. There is no time limit on the use of GMetrix, however, the certification license are only valid through the end of this school year. For those ready to take the MOS Certification exam 1. Submit an e-work Order and select 4-Training Request. In Specific Work Order Instructions include the exam you would like to take and a choice of three days/times you would like to schedule. (e.g. I would like to take the MOS certification for Microsoft Word 2007 on one of the following days: Monday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 a.m. or Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 12:00 p.m. or Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 3:30.)
