3 GCSE ICT
4 GCSE ICT (WJEC Exam Board) Students have 2 lessons of ICT GCSE a week. The curriculum has been specially designed so that students can really focus on their GCSE studies and so all lessons have been timetabled on 2 days a week. This is a 2 year course and students will finish it at the end of the academic year. This course has been developed by WJEC to provide the opportunity for candidates to obtain a qualification in: GCSE Information and Communication Technology; candidates are required to study Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3 and Unit 4. The course is made up of 2 different parts: Two exam papers (Units 1 and 3) Two controlled assessments (Units 2 and 4) Students take two examination papers: for unit 1 and unit 3. They are also required to submit two controlled assignments for unit 2 and unit 4.
5 GCSE ICT - Assessment Units Assessment Type Total weight Unit 1 Examination (1.5hrs) 20% Unit 2 Controlled Assessment (22.5hrs) 30% Unit 3 Examination (1.5hrs) 20% Description This examination paper will assess the requirements of the Key Stage 4 Programme of study for Information and Communication Technology and the functional elements of ICT in a home and school context This controlled assessment consists of a portfolio of work which shows candidates' attainment in obtaining and interpreting different types of information; using, developing and communicating information to meet the purpose of their studies and presenting the results of their work. This assignment will assess the practical aspects of the functional elements of ICT. This examination paper will assess the 'application' content of ICT in a business and industry context. Unit 4 Controlled Assessment (22.5hrs) 30% This controlled assessment will give candidates the opportunity to develop a piece of work using multimedia software following a single task brief issued by WJEC.

8 GCSE Computer Science (OCR Board) Students have 2 lessons of ICT GCSE a week. The curriculum has been specially designed so that students can really focus on their GCSE studies and so all lessons have been timetabled on 2 days a week. This is a 2 year course and students will finish it at the end of the academic year. This course has been developed by OCR to provide the opportunity for candidates to obtain a qualification in: GCSE Computer Science candidates are required to study Unit A451, A452 and A453. Written examination 2 hours. 60% of qualification Section A (30%) Reading Understanding of two extracts (about words in total) of high-quality non-fiction writing, one from the 19th century, the other from the 21st century, assessed through a range of structured questions Section B (30%) Writing Two compulsory transactional/persuasive writing tasks

21 GCSE Mathematics
22 GCSE Mathematics (Edexcel Exam Board) Students have 4 lessons of Mathematics GCSE a week. This could expand to 5 lessons a week in Year 11. Pupils are given extra time in their curriculum to master each topic, they will then be assessed 6 times in the year to monitor their progress. This may result in interventions. The curriculum has been specially designed so that pupils are given preparation time for their examinations at approximately the beginning of June There are now 3 papers. This is a 2 year course and students have experienced some of their course in Year 9.
23 GCSE Mathematics The assessments will cover the following content headings: 1 Number 2 Algebra 3 Ratio, proportion and rates of change 4 Geometry and measures 5 Probability 6 Statistics The qualification consists of three equally-weighted written examination papers at either Foundation tier or Higher tier. All three papers must be at the same tier of entry and must be completed in the same assessment series. Paper 1 is a non-calculator assessment and a calculator is allowed for Paper 2 and Paper 3. Each paper is 1 hour and 30 minutes long. Each paper has 80 marks.
