2 marco Setup 1) Verify that you have an internet connection. 2) Connect your modem to marco s internet port (yellow). 5) We recommend only connecting devices that need filtering such as kids devices to the marco network and other nonfiltered devices to the marco_parents network. 4 System System Set the router time zone and NTP server. Flash Firmware Upgrade firmware. For the lastest marco firmware visit Reboot Reboot or Factory Restore router. 5 Services Block Ads Block Ads block known ad and abuse sites. Ticket Time: If a device is outside of its usage time, you can grant a ticket to allow access. This specifies how long to allow access for. Add Clients that are NOT allowed access for specific times and days Enable Block Ads: Blocklist Sources: To enable check box. Various 3 rd party ad lists. Web Filtering Guardian is the heart of marco and performs content filtering including safesearches. General Settings Access Control Access Control allows you to manage Internet access for specific devices. 7 Network Interfaces marco has three interfaces, WAN, KIDS, and PARENTS. WAN connects to the internet. KIDS and PARENTS connect to the internal network including wireless. The KIDS interface is associated with SSID marco and web filtering, ad blocking, and time management services are applied to it. The PARENTS interface is associated with SSID marco_parents and do have the above services associated with it. The WAN connects to your current router provided by your ISP, i.e. Comcast, Xfinity, Time Warner. The LAN is your wireless. WAN is usually DHCP and LAN is Static address. WARNING: Changing these settings could potentially disable router access. Changing them should be done by knowledgeable in networking. Edit Protocol: Protocol - DHCP or Static IPv4: IP Address if protocol is static IPv4 netmask: Netmask IPV4 gateway: Gateway address Custom DNS Servers: DNS servers if not provided by WAN DHCP Advanced Settings These are advanced settings for defaults should be sufficient. Wireless Wireless Overview gives you specific information about each SSID. There is two SSIDs (marco and marco_parents) for each band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. You can edit and disable SSIDs. 8 Diagnostics Diagnostic utilities to ping, traceroute, and DNS lookup for specific hosts. Use these utilities to help diagnose network problems. DHCP and DNS Shows current DHCP clients. Hostnames Local host files (/etc/hosts or c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) are ignored when using marco. To add custom hostnames, enter them here along with their IP. marco User s manual 8
