2 School Project Description: Most schools are currently using analog security systems with coax cable. Vigitron s 2400A series of Ethernet over extenders allow them to reuse the coax and transition to IP without the cost of rewiring. Furthermore, in many of existing installations, the distance between the camera and the control room is further than the 340 feet (100m) Ethernet limit. Therefore, even if the coax is replaced with, there will be a need for Ethernet extenders. Vi2416A Why Vigitron: Vigitron s MaxiiCopper Vi2400A series transmit both PoE and IP video up to 5,000 feet (1,515 m) at 10BaseT and 1,800 feet (546 m) at 100BaseT. They maintain full bandwidth over the total transmitted distance, supporting Jumbo frames. Cost savings due to reusing cables enables schools to extend their security system and purchase more security products with the same budget. Vigitron s patent pending Pass-Through-PoE (PTP ) eliminates the need for any local power supply for extender or camera, simplifying installation and lowering costs. Airport Project Description: A major United States airport wants to convert from analog to IP and reuse existing coax cabling. Due to the nature of the project, they are using a Video Management System (VMS) that requires multicasting. NVR Vi2416A Why Vigitron: extenders from various manufacturers were tested and failed to operate in a system multicasting mode. Only Vigitron s MaxiiCopper extenders passed the tests and selected for the job.

3 Prison Project Description: A prison wants to convert from analog to IP and maintain their current coax and camera positions. The cameras, that are being installed in high security, are subject to damage from inmates. Some of the selected cameras have backboxes and others do not. The prison also has existing non-poe switches. Vi2616 Vi2400A Vi2400A Why Vigitron: The MaxiiPower Vi2616 provides both the extender and Midspan function, saving valuable rack space. The Vi2400A is very compact in size and can fit in the backbox of many different camera manufacturers. Four-square and J-box are used for security and environmental protection. Private Homes Description: A wealthy home on a large lot with its main gate is located several hundreds feet away. The connection between the house and the main gate are several pairs of wire used for alarm and gate control. Vi0030 Vi0030 Why Vigitron: The combination of the MaxiiCopper Vi2401 and Vi0030 allow PoE and IP to be transmitted on an existing single pair twisted or flat wire. This will eliminate the need for costly new wiring.

4 Indoor Car Park Description: In converting to IP from analog to IP, for insurance reasons, they need to increase their coverage and are going to be installing more than one IP cameras in a general area where they previously had only one. However, they only have one coax cable running back to the control site. Vi2804P Vi1120 Vi2804P up to 5,000 ft. Vi1120 Why Vigitron: Vigitron s MaxiiCollector Vi2804P is a Layer 2 PoE switch fixed programmed to support IP camera requirements. Its uplink can achieve distances of up to 3,000 feet (909 m) or coax distances of up to 5,000 feet (1,515 m). It can power up to four cameras at 802.3at or two ports at 60W. Outdoor Parking Lots Description: A customer has a parking lot application and requires PTZ domes with heaters and blowers that are only powered by PoE. Vi2301A Vi2516 Vi2300A Why Vigitron: Vigitron MaxiiPower Vi2500 and Vi2200 series can provide up to 74W per port on selected ports with 60W available to the camera at 800 feet (242 m). The Vi2300A extenders can pass through up to 60W, to be provided at the camera site. Vigitron s PoE solutions are tested and certified with Axis, Bosch, Sony, and Hikvision cameras that require greater than 30W PoE.

5 Hospital Project Description: A hospital wants to convert their analog system to IP. Hospital codes in the United States require the use of Plenum cables, which are expensive. Furthermore, removing the old coax cables and installing new cables would require shutting down various hospital wings and moving patients. Vi2416A Why Vigitron: By using MaxiiCopper Vi2400A Ethernet extenders, the installation was done without the need to change or modify existing cable runs. Extenders were placed at any location in the cable runs with longer than 328 feet (100m) from the control room. Commercial/Industrial Buildings Description: A commercial installation was experiencing problems with cameras intermittently losing video and not being recorded. The reason was a combination of three factors: A. Some of the cameras were high resolution (3MP and over). The PoE switch s packet size at 100Mbps was limited to 1518 bytes, lower than the output camera packet size. B. The switch was loaded with all ports being used. The switch fabric was less than two times the total bandwidth of all the ports. So when the switch was fully operational, there wasn t enough bandwidth to pass all of the camera streams. C. Many IP cameras vary their settings based on scene activity. Increased activity requires increase bandwidth. When this occurs, the requirement from one or a group of cameras with a system can block the transmission from other cameras. Fiber Fiber Vi3010 Fiber Vi3010 Vi3010 Why Vigitron: A. The is unique in providing settings for the size of Jumbo Frames at 9600 bytes in both full and half duplex mode at 100Mbps, which is the required bandwidth connection between an IP camera and switch port. B. The provides a switch fabric of two times the total bandwidth of all port to assure complete bandwidth transmission. C. The provides per port settings, based on bandwidth or number of frame rates to assure increased activity (usually due to scene activity) from one or a set of cameras will not dominate switch transmission. D. Vigitron s complete PoE switch product line features Virtual Stacking which allows for all switches on the network to be controlled and viewed from a single IP address. This allows for smaller 10 port switches to be used as nodes in larger installations and routed long distances via fiber to a central backbone switch - all under the direction of a single IP address. Vigitron s 10 port PoE switches maintain all the features of the larger 26 port versions.

6 Casino Project Description: A casino with 800 cameras converted from analog to IP using Vigitron s Vi2400 series Ethernet to transceivers. 600 runs worked perfectly and 200 runs did not. It was later learned that these 200 runs used a mini coax jumper, which dramatically increased the cable resistance and blocked the ability to apply the necessary detection pulse and power to the IP camera. The casino did not want to increase installation cost or shut down gaming operations for prolong periods of time. Mini Vi2616 Junction Box Junction Box Why Vigitron: The Vi2616 extended Midspans were used on the problem cable runs. The Vi2616 has a force power mode. The cameras were 802.3af. By setting the force power to 802.3at, the Midspan was able to power the cameras over higher resistance cables. Even when operating in the force power mode, the Vigitron s Midspans maintain a safety power limit that automatically shuts down PoE power in the event of a short circuit or an unsafe situation. School Project Description: A school district installed IP systems at many schools. In some of these installations, the majority of the cameras were IP PTZ domes. Upon start up when all the PTZ domes move to a zero position at the same time, or when several domes are operating on autopan with others manually operated, the PoE switches were shut down due to excessive power. In some cases, the switch was damaged. Why Vigitron: Vigitron s MaxiiNet PoE switches, Vi port and 26-port, are designed for IP cameras with unique PoE programming features. At the PoE startup, all ports are polled. If a port is found to have a short or require more power than available, that port is shut down. However unlike other PoE switches, rather than remaining in the off position and requiring a service call, the operator can program each port for up to three retries to potentially avoid a service call. On the startup, simultaneous powering of high power devices, such as PTZ domes moving to their zero position, can cause a surge that can result in port shut down or damage. Vi3010 and PoE switches provide for per port programming that delays the application of PoE to each port over up to 5 minute period. This feature prevents extreme startup surges and eliminates the potential for a service call.
