9 TERMS CPE Customer Premise Equipment Data Model A hierarchical set of Parameters that define the managed Objects accessible via TR-069 Parameter A name-value pair that represents part of a CPE s configuration or status Session A contiguous sequence of CWMP Transactions between a CWMP End Point and ACS Transaction A message exchange consisting of a single request followed by a single response 9

10 ACS DISCOVERY CPE learns of the address of its ACS by one of the following mechanisms: Locally configured DHCP Option or TLV Hardcoded in to Firmware ACS URL must be in the form of a valid HTTP or HTTPS URL DNS lookup required when FQDN in use CPE must remember the mechanism to locate the ACS after factory reset 10

11 ACS DISCOVERY IN DHCP Typically configured via DHCP option 43.1 or TLV43 CPE identifies itself to the DHCP via the Vendor Class Identifier (DHCP option 60) containing the string dslforum.org If the CPE cannot reach the ACS URL, the CPE must perform DHCP to re-discover the ACS URL CPE considers the ACS unreachable if a TCP connection cannot be established within 300 seconds 11

12 ACS à CPE SESSION CPE must have an IP address that is routable from the ACS Connection Request (CR) must use an HTTP 1.1 GET method The CR must make use of HTTP only CPE must use digest-authentication before proceeding Number of CRs is restricted to prevent DoS attacks CPE will respond with an HTTP 503 code (Service Unavailable) CPE must respond to CR within 30 seconds CRs depend on the ACS having at least one prior communication with the CPE 12
