In this system, STM32F103VET6 is used as a controller. Meanwhile, a Beidou positioning module is designed as a component to receive the satellite positioning data. These positioning data are further processed by a STM32 module. The related positioning data are sent to the monitoring center through a GPRS network. For the remote monitoring center, the proposed system uses the Winsock control in VB6.0 to communicate with the GPRS module, specifically through the ADO technology to connect with a SQL Server database, and store the positioning information to the SQL Server database. Besides, it designs an MSHFlexGrid control in VB6.0 for real-time monitoring of the vehicle location information. In addition, the Google Maps and WebBrowser are considered for displaying the map in a realtime fashion. The system can realize the remote monitoring for vehicle positioning, and it is stable, safe and reliable. Keywords- GPRSBeidoumonitorSTM32F103VET6 VB6.0 I. ITRODUCTIO Remote monitoring has been greatly benefited from the recent advances of wireless communication, satellite navigation, database, and embedded technologies. It can be used for many civilian applications, e.g., vehicle remote monitoring. For example, vehicle remote monitoring can offer localization services via a system integrating GPRS wireless communication networks. In this way, vehicles can be monitored in a real-time at a monitoring center with connectivity of the Internet, satellite, and the GPRS wireless networks. In such a setting, this paper presents a vehicle remote positioning system that integrates the GPRS network and the Beidou satellite system. A Beidou satellite receiver has the capability to receive the Beidou satellite GPS signals that can enable remote locations. Considering the remote monitoring, this paper has several efforts for providing effective vehicle localization services: Beidou Vehicle Terminal: Beidou receiver hardware and software are developed that can be used integrated into the vehicles, Remote Communication Protocols: Protocols are developed for establishing the wireless data communication between the Beidou vehicle terminal and the remote monitoring center, Vehicle Monitoring Center: Vehicle monitoring center is a system to real-time monitor the targeted vehicles dynamically. A GPRS network is a module for transmitting the remote data [1], taking a GPRS functions as a wireless terminal communication module. It has a Beidou module to take the positioning data, using the SD card as storage medium, LCD display and together with a reset button. Besides, the design of remote monitoring center uses the VB6.0 and Google map, meanwhile SQL SERVER database as back-end database. The system achieves the remote positioning and monitoring. II. SYSTEM STRUCTURE 1 Figure 1 shows the proposed system structure to provide remote vehicle positioning services. This monitoring system consists of three functional parts: Vehicle Terminal: It includes the Beidou receiver, STM32, and a GPRS module GPRS and the Internet: Protocols are implemented for GPRS data transmission, and Remote monitoring center: This is the remote monitoring center for the vehicles connected by the system networks. The Beidou positioning module receives the satellite positioning data [2]. The related positioning data are processed by the STM32 module. Besides, it establishes the communication links between the vehicle terminal and the remote monitoring center through a GPRS network. By using a GPRS network to initiate a connection, further interconnect with the server of remote monitoring center and then transmit these positioning data. Upon the monitoring of the positioning information through VB6.0, the positioning data are stored into the SQL Server database. In the next Section, we describe the functional modules and the protocols implemented in the proposed architecture. HARDWARE DESIG OF VEHICLE TERMIAL connecting the server of remote monitoring center to receive the positioning information, and packages them. In the end, these data are sent to remote monitoring center through GPRS network [4]. Figure 2. Hardware framework of the vehicle terminal Figure 2 illustrate the hardware framework of vehicle terminal that we have implemented. The vehicle terminal is mainly composed of STM32F103VET6, Beidou positioning module, GPRS module, SIM card, SD card module, LCD module, button and power supply. Using BD2/GPS double system module UM220 as Beidou positioning module, UM220 can achieve three modes: (i) the single GPS positioning, (ii) the single Beidou positioning, and (iii) mixed-mode positioning. It has small size, high integration, and low power consumption. The power supply is 3.3 V. The serial of positioning module connects the serial port 2 of STM32F103VET6. This module mainly receives the satellite positioning information, and then transmits data through the serial port 2. These data include the information like the latitude, longitude, speed and time [3]. The SIM900 is used as a GPRS module. The power supply is 3.3V and it supports GSM/GPRS 900/1800MHzband and AT command. It has the embedded TCP/IP protocol stack. The serial of GPRS module connects the serial port 3 of STM32F103VET6. It transmits data and controlling GPRS module through the serial port 3. As a communication module, it is mainly responsible for IV. SOFTWARE DESIG OF SYSTEM The monitoring system software consists of three parts: (i) extraction of positioning information, (ii) the GPRS wireless data transmission, and (iii) the design of the remote monitoring center. A. Extraction of positioning information While the serial of Beidou module connects to the serial port 2 of STM32F103VET6, the positioning data are transmitted to the STM32. The data are represented by the standard MEA format sentences. This module automatically searches the satellite information after turning on the power, and sends MEA sentence through serial port. For the positioning data, the key work is to parse MEA , further extract the longitude and latitude, the time and speed information. Usually these MEA0183 sentences are applied in the satellite navigation, including the GGA, GLL, GSA, GSV and RMC, etc. [5]. By setting the proper parameters, the Beidou module can output the BDRMC sentence. Figure 3 shows the received the $BDRMC sentences by Serial debugging assistant. Figure 3.Received $BDRMC data
3 The BDRMC sentences are formatted as the following: $BDRMC,<1>,<2>,<3>,<4>,<5>,<6>,<7>,<8>,<9>,<10>,<11>,<12>* hh<cr><lf>. In the format, the fields are: UTC time, positioning state, latitude, latitude or S, longitude, longitude E or W, speed, azimuth, UTC date, magnetic declination, magnetic declination direction, and pattern. The location of the above information is fixed and unchanged, with a comma to separate from data segment. The location of required data can be judged by the number of comma. After that, it extracts the relevant information, and the data are converted into a standard output format. For the display of Google Map, these related data must be converted into the type which likes that in Figure 4. For example, the latitude of output is from Beidou module, and the data of standard format is operated as the following: 26+ ( /60) = Figure 4 shows the extraction of the Beidou positioning data. B. GPRS wireless data transmission The GPRS module is used to receive processed positioning data, and then these data are sent to the server of the remote monitoring center. Data transmitting and controlling are completed by STM32 which transmits AT command to the GPRS module. With the AT commands, the GPRS module can be controlled by STM32, and then GPRS module and monitoring center establishes a TCP connection in the client-server mode for the transmission of positioning information. To establish a TCP connection for information transmission, we provide the following functions: The GPRS module needs to register to the link network, and then it is configured with a connection protocol (TCP) with a port number (XXXX) at the GPRS module. We provide the AT command: AT+CLPORT= TCP, XXXX. In addition, the connection of establishing TCP needs to connect the public IP. Due to various restrictions, it mayn t be connected properly and should have the following operations. With the help of peanut shells and software, Dynamic Domain ame Service is used to acquire a domain name (XX.XX.XX.XX) and port number (XXXX). The AT command is Figure 4. Design of the remote monitoring center The positioning data are monitored and stored by the remote monitoring center and database. It is designed by VB6.0, SQL SERVER database and Google map. This uses the Winsock,ADO, PictureBox, WebBrowser control and Google map. Among them, Winsock control achieves the communication between the GPRS module and the center. The SQL SERVER database is connected by ADO, and positioning data are stored by database. In addition, the MSHFlexGrid control is used to achieve the real-time monitoring of the information. Finally, with the WebBrowser, PictureBox control and Google Maps, the real-time display of the map can be achieved. 1) Design the center server Winsock control is used to set up connection and exchange data with other computer by the TCP/IP protocol. TCP is a communication protocol of creating a connection between two computers, and the connection is a point-topoint form. When a client computer needs to connect to the server computer, the client must know the IP address of the server or name and open port [6]. The IP address of the server in the client application can be set by RemoteHost property, and the server port can be set through the RemotePort property. Furthermore, the server application needs to set open port for this server, for server and client, and the port must be the same. After these settings, the Listen way of Winsock control is called to listen on the specified port of server. When the server receives the request from the client, then calls the Accept way to accept the client's connection request. After the connection is established, the server and the client can send (using SendData way of Winsock control) and receive (using GetData way of Winsock control) data from each other. Figure 7 shows the tcp server. There are many ways to connect the database in VB6.0, like DAO, ODBC, RDO and ADO. For the proposed system, the ADO technique is adopted to realize the connection and visit to database. Database is connected by OLE DB, which creates various objects of ADO to operate database. For connection of SQL SERVER database, the key question to adopt Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.8 Library, then add the codes as follows: Dim cnn As ADODB. Connection; Set cnn =ewadodb. Connection; cnn. Open FileDS=vehicle.dsn; UID=sa; PWD=z. Among them, the first statement defines a connection object, the second statement creates and initializes the object, the third statement uses connection object to connect ODBC data source. It further connects to the vehicle database. The user name of database is sa, and the password is z. After connecting database, it begins to operate the related tables in database by a RecordSet connection to operate record. This performs a SELECT query with RecordSet connection: Dim rs As ADODB. Recordset; Set rs = ew ADODB. Recordset; rs.open select*fromdatatest_info",conn,adopenkeys-et, adlockoptimistic. Among them, the first statement defines a RecordSet object variable, the second statement creates the variable, and the third statement performs SELECT query. It returns the query result. Adding the MSHFlexGrid control, it is associated with tables in the database, and finally the relevant data are monitored by MSHFlexGrid table. Figure 8 shows the monitoring of positioning data. In addition, with PictureBox, WebBrowser control and Google map, it allows us to combine with the positioning information, ultimately, get the real-time display of the map. Figure 9 shows the realtime map. The state of latitude is north latitude, the state of longitude is east longitude, the unit is degree, Speed is shown in km/h, and the Y means the terminal has been positioning. Figure7. COCLUSIO Through the wireless communication, satellite navigation, database, and embedded technologies, the system realizes vehicle wireless remote positioning and monitoring, it is stable and reliable, it can resolve many related remote monitoring works, and it has a good prospect of application.
