8 PAP01: IP IN THE SMART GRID Objective Define a core suite of IP-based protocols required for Smart Grid networks. Impact Identifies the key protocols for those people seeking guidance on how to construct an appropriate IP Suite profile for the SG Protocol interoperability is a key enabler of other SG networking technologies being deployed, especially for last mile solutions. Outcome Informational IETF RFC Internet Protocols for the Smart Grid this winter Provides advice on how to best "profile" the Internet Protocol Suite (IPS) for use on with the SG. An overview of the IPS and the key protocols that are critical in integrating SG devices into an IP networks. 10 PAP13: TIME SYNCHRONIZATION Objective Accelerate the integration of standards that can impact phasor measurement and applications depending on PMU and PDC based data and information. Impact Removing overlaps between the standards will allow development of interoperable equipment and systems. A standards-based approach that addresses the requirements from all applications will facilitate implementation of new Smart Grid applications.
