4 1.0 Overview of the DS2000/DS2500 Data Server DS2000/DS2500 is a multi-purpose, multi-protocol data server / collector. It is a stateof-art open-architecture data collector designed for today's near-real-time data collection and data processing needs. It can be used to collect data from devices in many environments, such as Telecom, Networking, Internet-of-Things, Databases, SCADA, EDI, and just about any device with a data interface. The DS2000/DS2500 functions as an intelligent data collector and transfers data from any Generating System (GS), regardless of the manufacturer, via many protocols and interfaces. It is able to perform local functions on that data, for filtering, reformatting, alarms, and storage. And it can forward that data to a wide variety of downstream processing applications in different markets (i.e., military, banking, billing, telecom, and utilities). For example, it can collect AMA/CDR/SMDR records from any Telecom system via many protocols (e.g., X.25, BX.25, BiSync, XFER, MTP, TCP/IP, FTAM, etc.) as well as via Magnetic Tape Emulation (MTE). It can also collect data from common networking equipment (via SNMP or Syslog). This product can be a cost-effective replacement for any type of the existing out-ofsupport data collectors currently in operation that are either end-of-life/out-of-support, or incurring excessive amount of maintenance support expenses. Since it can communicate with devices in bi-directional mode, it can also be used for backup or configuration, replacing any old systems using obsolete technologies. DS2000/25000 is a field tested, robust product, implemented in hundreds of sites across five continents. It is offered on three platform alternatives: 1- DS2000 Designed for use in non-nebs requirement applications, e.g. international telecom markets, US CLECs, and non-telecom operators. 2- DS2500 NEBS compliant and certified, for use mostly in US Tier-1 telecom operators. 3- Virtual Platform - Where all interfaces can operate via TCP/IP, the system can be implemented on a virtual platform, reducing hardware and hardware maintenance costs. 6 2.0 Functionality The primary function of DS2000/DS2500 is to enhance the collection and management of the data flow from Generating Systems (GS) to downstream applications. The DS2000/DS2500 is also able to reformat, store and forward the files according to userdefined parameters. The DS2000/DS2500 is also being used by our customers to replace obsolete magnetic tape units in legacy equipment to record CDRs and also collect, restore, and archive switch generics. The DS2000/DS2500 provides the user with following basic functions: Seamless Data Collection - By directly replacing the magnetic tape unit, the DS2000/DS2500 is designed to ensure data integrity without any gaps or duplication. Flexible Data Formatting An optional functionality that allows the collected data to be re-formatted to accommodate any downstream application format (e.g., converting a file from ASCII to EBCIDIC or ECIDIC to ASCII, AMA to EMI, Soft Switch CSV to AMA). Many other formats are also available. Local Data Storage - An internal disk drive is used for the storage of more than 600 Gigabytes, which can be software encrypted if necessary. Easy Data Transfer - The DS2000/DS2500 data may be either polled or pushed to any computer on the network by user-defined schedules or triggers (time or volume). System and data processing alarms generated and available in any or all of SNMP, , hardware contacts for output. Application software runs on top of either SuSE or Red Hat Linux operating systems. Flexible Data Management for Downstream Applications - Options are available for the selection (filtering) and distribution of subsets of the data to Fraud, Marketing, Sales, Data Warehousing, or Customer Service. 7 3.0 Interfacing 3.1 Back-End Data Input The DS2000/DS2500 utilizes standard interfaces to collect data from a variety of SCSI, PERTEC, and Cook tape interfaces, as well as TCP/IP and serial interfaces. The DS2000/DS2500 allows one MTE interface and any number of serial data input interfaces (X.25, BX.25, DCO Bi-Sync, MTP, etc.) through Telegence s state-of-the-art DS321, local collector device. It will also handle any number of TCP/IP-based input sources. The DS2000/DS2500 acts as an interface to the GS magnetic tape controller system. The DS2000/DS2500 transfers data from the GS and returns all of the required control, status, and read/write data signaling to the tape controller. In general, DS2000/DS2500 can perform all magnetic tape commands and functions: Provides an electrically compatible interface and buffer between the magnetic tape controller (MTC). Decodes tape motion commands. Monitors and regulates control/status lines to and from the MTC in response to tape motion commands. Receives data from the GS, stores the data to be read back to the GS on demand, and passes the data to the hard disk as it is written from the GS. 9 3.1.3 TCP/IP The DS2000/DS2500 can also work directly with TCP/IP interfaces, and supports FTAM, FTP, SFTP, SCP, HTTP, and other protocols. 3.2 User GUI Interface Our user interfaces are based on Apache, PHP, and Javascript. The GUI interfaces are designed to work across all common browser types, and avoid browser-specific code RevA010 November 2018 Page 9 of 16

10 3.3 Reporting Our data collection systems make use the MySQL database. We process this data in a variety of ways for our customers, and produce dynamic reports tailored to their needs. We also provide data-aging functions as per their requirements. The users may select what they wish to see in their reports, and how they want it represented. Reports can be defined for regular execution on a schedule, with results ed to the user. 11 4.0 Data Processing Because the DS2000/DS2500 Data Server interfaces directly to the GS Magnetic Tape Controller (MTC), the files are collected as though they were being written to a tape. Configuration for a LAN Input/Output Generating System, output data is presented to the LAN Input Module. In this application, the DS2000/DS2500 can be configured to either poll the generating system or wait for the files to be sent. Data can be polled from the DS2000/DS2500 based on a predefined schedule within the host collector s database. In this environment, the DS2000/DS2500 will respond to polled requests initiated by the host collector. Alternately, the DS2000/DS2500 may be reconfigured for LAN data transfers at any time without the need for additional hardware or software. 5.0 DS2000/DS2500 Features The DS2000/DS2500 offers a set of standard features that enhance its efficiency and adaptability: Easy system administration and monitoring with state-of-the-art GUI. Alarms monitored and send via to SMS, , SNMP to IT personnel. Each system supports multiple data inputs and also one MTE interface. Systems can be configured in various redundant configurations (e.g. Standby/Active, 2-of-n, etc.) using a local private LAN to share mission critical data. Application is hardware independent and may be ported to cloud environments, with the exception of the MTE hardware interface. Comprehensive auditing of collected input data is compiled and sent via . Modular architecture consisting of off-the-shelf plug-in PCI hardware components. Flexible system design with the capability for growth or reconfiguration. As customer requirements change, the system can be expanded or reconfigured to accommodate the new environment. 12 Automatic duplicate data check of input raw data Files are securely stored in non-volatile memory mass storage disk drives. (Additional drives may be configured as an option to increase storage capacity if required.) A USB Flash disk drive is featured for data backup. Ethernet LAN transfer files to downstream applications. Industry standard Unix set of security features is available with the DS2000/DS2500. The System supports user access via the LAN or local connection. If necessary for any legacy Generating System, dial-in modem access is also supported. 6.0 DS2000/DS2500 Application Software The DS2000/DS2500 operates under control of an industry standard real-time SuSE Linux or Red Hat Linux Operating System. This OS runs on the high-performance single board computer that is utilized by the DS2000/DS2500. The application software conforms to industry standards such as POSIX and SVID. The DS2000/DS2500 application software is modular in design. The architecture is comprised of a Core Module and an assortment of Peripheral Application Modules (PAM s). The Core Module provides the environment for the application elements to run and support all generic functionality of the system. 6.1 Peripheral Application Modules Peripheral Application Modules are independent software applications that are used to perform specialized tasks. The PAM may be arranged and defined by the customer in any desirable order to achieve a specific output. Additionally, PAM's may be added or removed as customer requirements change. Input PAM - This application is used to bring data into the DS2000/DS2500 system to satisfy the Generating System s `hand-shaking` requirements. It is responsible for accepting data from the GS and forwarding it to the Core Module over the Input Application Interface for validation. 13 Magnetic Tape Interface Category - This application requires the appropriate Input PAM for the specific generating system and an Interface Module PCB. Serial Port (X.25) Category - This application requires the appropriate Input PAM for the specific generating system and a X.25 Interface Module PCB. LAN Interface Category - This application requires the appropriate Input PAM for the specific generating system. 6.2 Specialized Processing Modules Specialized Processing Modules (SPMs) Some of these applications, as indicated below, are optional and can be added at any time to the system. These support data output from the DS2000/DS2500 and are responsible for moving the data from the Core Module and forwarding it to the downstream application or DPMS10K, i.e., Telegence multifunction B/OSS. This capability provides the customer with a flexible output interface that can be configured by the user. Example of the SPM modules: Output Module - This is the output to downstream applications. Filter Module - This optional module is used to select and copy call records from the CDR data stream based on specific user-defined criteria. Copy Module - This module provides duplication functionality for input data streams resulting in two identical output streams. Distribution Module - This module supports data output when communicating with a LAN device using industry standard data transfer protocols like FTP, NFS, , and HTTP. Reformatter Module - This optional module will convert the input data format to any customer-defined output format, e.g. AMA-to-EMI, etc RevA010 November 2018 Page 13 of 16

14 7.0 DS2000/DS2500 Hardware The DS2000 chassis is a self-contained compact unit that can be rack-mounted in a standard 19, 23, or 24 inch EIA rack or flush mounted in a 19 or 24 inch EIA cabinet. The DS2500 is a Dell R730t server chassis. All components provided with mounting screws and standard system cables. The SAS 6GB/sec 2.5 disk drive used in DS2500 is a high performance, high-capacity 600GB drive, optionally configured as RAID USB Flash Drive The DS2000 supports USB Flash Drive. It may be used for archiving and switch backup purposes, and also to backup CDR data files for transfer to the data center during a network outage Power Supply Module The Primary power supply for the DS2000/DS2500 provides power to the motherboard, PCI cards; cooling fans, disk drives, and DVD drive, etc. The power supply is optionally configured as AC or -48V DC input. 15 7.1.5 DS321 The DS321 is a multi-protocol conversion unit. It has a single serial port, which may be synchronous or asynchronous, and supports speeds up to 115.2kbps. It supports HDLC, SDLC, X.25, SLM, LAPB, and E2A protocols, in addition to some Bi-Synchronous variants. On the other side of the device, is an Ethernet port. The device supports TCP/IP, both IPv4 and IPv6. The data received on the serial port is bundled and transmitted on the Ethernet port. The total protocol conversion function requires the presence of DS321 along with a SW that provides the Application Layer of protocol conversion. This SW is provided as part of another Telegence solution, such as DS2000/2500, centrally located DPMS10K, or through Cloud configuration. 8.0 Communications The DS2000/DS2500 supports user access through LAN or local connection. Either path of access is acceptable and provides the same level of capability. For proper maintenance and support of the system, users will occasionally require remote access to the terminal. 9.0 Specifications 9.1 Dimensions The DS2000/DS2500 is designed for mounting in one standard 19" equipment rack. Optional mounting ears are provided for larger racks or cabinets, and optional vertical or angular mounting kits are available.
