IF UNSURE OF INSTALLATION PROCEDURES OR USE, ALWAYS CONTACT YOUR DAIKIN DEALER FOR ADVICE AND INFORMATION. INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the EKBMSMBA or EKBMSBNA Kit. This will enable you to communicate with your chiller or chillers through a Building Management System (BMS) or other supervisory system. More specifically, it functions as a translator between the BMS or supervisory system and the address cards of the actual chiller or multiple chillers. As such, the ensures the connection of all address cards and thus also of the chillers with systems that can communicate in Modbus or BACnet protocol. Different parts of the communication network rs422/485 Carel Net. relay fuse The communication network consists of two major players: The Building Management System or supervisory system. The chiller or multiple chillers. The BMS or other supervisory system is able to communicate with the chillers through two communication devices: The, a separate device that functions as a translator between the Modbus/BACnet signals of the BMS or supervisory system and the protocol used by the chiller s address card. The address card, a card placed on each PCB of the chiller or a module placed inside the switchbox, depending on the range of the chiller. It identifies the chiller. The can communicate with up to 6 address cards using the Modbus- Jbus protocol or up to 8 address cards using the BACnet protocol. Mind that each PCB needs one address card! (Refer to figure.) When manipulating internal jumpers, do not touch the electronic components with your fingers in order to prevent stray currents which could irreparably damage the components themselves. HOW TO CHANGE THE POWER SUPPLY Introduction You can set the power supply to either one of the following: 240Vac 20Vac 24Vac The uses 240Vac 50/60 Hz current. Be extremely careful when you change the power supply. Follow the instructions given below rigorously. Changing From 240Vac to 24Vac or to 20Vac Disconnect the power cable from the mains. 2 Remove the cover. 3 Remove the faston with the lead coming from the power supply placed in the position marked with the serigraph 240V~ (see figure). Earth the casing to the stud identified by the appropriate yellow label. The entire system could be damaged by the erroneous connection of a single wire. Preferably insert the cables into the connectors with the switched off. During the configuration phase, strictly follow the instructions on the use of the relevant program. This connection can be made by two different cables: a cable with a connector at both ends a cable with one connector (to ) and one 25-pole female connector (to the computer) A program on a diskette delivered with the Kit can start the initial configuration once the cable connects the to the computer. The BACnet has no other options to make a connection. Make the connection at the gateway side to the 9 pin male connector labelled modem. The connections you have to make depend on which cable you use. The possible connections are listed: Connections to make for a cable with a 25-pole female connector. However, the gateway only manages the signals TX and RX. RS-485 connection diagrams (only for Modbus-Jbus) The RS-485 connection diagrams can only be used by Modbus- Jbus. The possible connections are listed: Supervisory system (connector labelled RS-422/RS-485) GND TX+/RX+ 4 TX-/RX- 5 The pinning from the supervisory system side is omitted because it changes depending on the particular supervisory system being utilised. HARDWARE CONFIGURATION Opening the cover of the gives you access to the four jumpers present on the card. The hardware configuration is made by placing the jumpers in a specific way to enable different ports and their options. The A, B, C, D jumpers are shown in the figure. Read the instructions to enable a port or an option of a port.
