2 Safety Instructions You must keep safety in mind while using this device. Keep these and any other instructions for future reference. Observe Warnings: Carefully follow all warnings on the device and in the operating instructions. Heat: Do NOT place the device near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, heat registers, or other appliances that produce heat. Care and Use Cleaning: Do NOT use liquid, abrasive, solvent, or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. When Not in Use: Remove the batteries if this device is to be left unattended or unused for a long period of time. 3 INSERT THE BATTERIES Slide the SAGE remote battery cover off. Insert two () AA batteries, making sure to match the plus (+) ends with the plus markings on the battery case (opposite each other). 3 Replace the remote battery cover.

PAIRING AND UNPAIRING THE REMOTE To Pair the SAGE Remote For the SAGE remote to work with the SAGE Hub, it must be paired. Use the following procedure to pair the remote.

4 PAIRING AND UNPAIRING THE REMOTE To Pair the SAGE Remote For the SAGE remote to work with the SAGE Hub, it must be paired. Use the following procedure to pair the remote. Press the button between the USB and ETHERNET ports on the SAGE Hub s back panel twice in quick succession. The pairing screen appears. On the SAGE remote, press and hold the THERMOSTAT and CAMERAS buttons simultaneously for 0 seconds. The SAGE Hub confirms pairing is successful. 0 Sec. To Unpair the SAGE Remote To unpair a SAGE remote from the SAGE Hub, press and hold the LIGHTS and BACK buttons simultaneously for 0 seconds. The SAGE Hub confirms unpairing is successful. Note: If you receive a replacement SAGE Hub, unpair the SAGE remote before pairing it to your replacement SAGE Hub. 0 Sec.

5 SAGE REMOTE Your SAGE remote provides you the following features to control and manage your home automation and security system. 6 INSTALLING YOUR SAGE HUB To Install the SAGE Hub Use the following procedure to set up your SAGE Hub to control all your devices. Ensure you have a valid SAGE user account set up on the MySAGE portion of the SAGEbyHughes.com website. You will need to use this account to activate your SAGE Hub. Determine 3 Plug 4 On PAIRING A UNPAIRIN THE REMOTE a location for your SAGE Hub near your HDTV and an existing satellite, cable, overthe-air or Internet-based TV video source. the cord for the power supply into the back of the Hub, and the other end into a wall outlet or power strip (not controlled by a light switch). the back of your TV video source, disconnect the HDMI cable and connect it to the HDMI OUT port on the back of your SAGE Hub. 5 Using the HDMI cable included with your SAGE Hub, and connect it to the HDMI IN port on the Hub and to the port on the back of your TV video source. 4

OPTIONAL: If you want battery backup for your SAGE Hub in a power outage, unscrew and slide off the lid to the Hub battery compartment and insert the six AA-sized rechargeable batteries. you can connect an Ethernet cable with Internet access to your SAGE Hub, do so now, and follow the onscreen instructions displayed on your HDTV. you could not connect an Ethernet cable to your SAGE Hub, you will connect to the Internet wirelessly through your access point or router, and follow the onscreen instructions displayed on your HDTV. 9 When an Activation Code is displayed on your HDTV, use your computer or mobile device to log in your mysage account and open the Activate Your Service screen. Enter the code displayed your HDTV on this screen. 0 After you see the activation success screen on your HDTV, use your remote control to select the correct timezone for your SAGE system. Now you have completed setting up SAGE Hub! 5

8 PAIRING AND INSTALLING SAGE DEVICES To Pair your SAGE Devices For a SAGE Security & Home Automation device to work with the SAGE Hub, it must be paired, named and installed in your SAGE system. Use the following general pairing and installation procedure for each SAGE device. Press Settings on the SAGE Remote Control, scroll down and then select ADD DEVICES. 3 Choose a type of device from the device categories listed across the bottom of the screen: Lights, Thermostats, Cameras, Locks, and Sensors. Selecting any device category with no devices of that type installed yet will display an option to INSTALL NOW. Select the first device to pair with your SAGE Hub. Follow the onscreen instructions to initiate pairing of the device to your SAGE Hub. The SAGE Hub should confirm pairing of this individual device was successful. 4 After the device has been successfully paired to your SAGE Hub, you must assign it a name. This name will be used to reference this individual device in the future; you should avoid assigning the same name to more than one device. 6

9 5 Following naming of the device, continue to follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation of the SAGE device in your system. The ADD DEVICES screen reappears. 6 Continue with each of your devices, one device at a time, until all have been paired to your SAGE Hub, assigned an individual device name for future reference, and successfully installed in your SAGE system. 7

10 OPERATING SAGE DEVICES To Operate SAGE Devices in Your Home To operate a SAGE Security & Home Automation device through the HDTV, use your SAGE Remote Control. You can also operate devices through the SAGEbyHughes app installed on your mobile device. Press Home on your SAGE Remote Control, and then select the category of device you want to operate, such as Lights or Thermostat. Use the onscreen controls to turn on or off the device, or to adjust the device according to your preferences. 8

11 SETTING UP RULES FOR SAGE DEVICES To Set Up Rules for SAGE Devices Rules allow your SAGE Security & Home Automation devices to work together automatically. For example, an event that one device detects (such as motion or unlocking a door) can trigger an action to be performed by another device (for example, a light to turn on). Press Rules on your SAGE Remote Control, and then select ADD NEW RULE. 3 4 The first step of the rule is to choose an event to start or trigger your rule. The events that are available vary by device, so you first must choose which SAGE device triggers the event. For categories containing more than one installed device (such as front and rear door locks, lamp dimmer and appliance switches, indoor and outdoor cameras, etc.), you must choose the individual device by its assigned name. The second step of the rule is to choose an action to perform when your rule is triggered. The action(s) that are available again vary by the category of device. For example, a lock can be locked or unlocked, or a switch can be turned on or off. Only one named device can be chosen to perform an action at one time. See the next step. An optional next step of the rule is to choose a second action to be performed after the first has been completed. The action(s) available again vary by the device you choose to perform it. 9

12 SETTING UP RULES FOR SAGE DEVICES, CONT D 5 6 The last step of the rule is to assign your new rule a name to reference it in the future, and then to complete your rule. The rule then will be added to the list of Rules on your SAGE system by its assigned name. The list of the rules you have defined for your SAGE system can be managed by pressing Rules on your SAGE Remote Control, selecting the name that you assigned to the rule from the list, and then either editing the rule s definition or deleting the rule from the list. 0

13 TROUBLESHOOTING To Unpair or Reset your SAGE Hub or Remote Certain devices in a SAGE Security & Home Automation system may need to be unpaired and reset to factory defaults, for example to be set up to work with a different SAGE Hub. Use the following general unpairing procedure for each SAGE device. To reset your SAGE Hub, press and hold the small button between the USB and Ethernet ports on the back panel. After the PWR and LINK lights start to blink in an alternating pattern on the front panel, release the reset button. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up the SAGE Hub again. 3 To unpair the SAGE Remote Control with your SAGE Hub, first remove the batteries from it, wait a few seconds, and then re-insert them. 4 Press and hold the LIGHTS and BACK buttons on the remote for about 0 seconds. Again, remove and re-insert the remote batteries. Follow the onscreen instructions to re-initiate remote pairing with the SAGE Hub again.

14 TROUBLESHOOTING, CONT D To Unpair or Reset SAGE Cameras Certain devices in a SAGE Security & Home Automation system may need to be unpaired and reset to factory defaults, for example to be set up to work with a different SAGE Hub. Use the following unpairing procedure for each SAGE device. 3 To unpair your SAGE Camera, use a paper clip to press and hold inside the small reset hole on the back of the indoor camera. (For the outdoor camera, you must first locate and remove the two rubber screw covers and screws to take off the cover on the bottom of the back panel to reveal the camera s small reset hole.) When the camera light on the front turns red, release RESET. Wait a few seconds for the green and blue lights on the front of the camera to blink, then follow the instructions to pair the camera to your SAGE Hub again. For the outdoor camera, you must also reset its bridge. Use a paper clip to press and hold inside the small reset hole on the Wi-Fi Bridge. When the light on the bridge turns red, release RESET. Follow the instructions to pair again.

15 To Unpair or Reset SAGE LED Lights Certain devices in a SAGE Security & Home Automation system may need to be unpaired and reset to factory defaults, for example to be set up to work with a different SAGE Hub. Use the following unpairing procedure for each SAGE device. 3 To unpair your SAGE LED Light Bulbs and Indoor Floodlights while they are lit, power them off and back on five times at one-second intervals. They will begin to blink, indicating they are again in pairing mode. (For ZigBee bulbs of other brands, you must power cycle them three times at one-second intervals.) To reset and re-pair the Appliance Switch or Lamp Dimmer, first unplug the device from power, and then press and hold the button on the front of the device while plugging it back in to power. Once the blue light on front of the device lights up, release the button and the blue light will blink to show it s in pairing mode. Follow the instructions to pair again. Note that when the appliance or lighting fixture you want to control is plugged in to the device and turned on, the blue light stays illuminated. 3

16 TROUBLESHOOTING, CONT D To Unpair or Reset SAGE Doorbell or Light Switch Certain devices in a SAGE Security & Home Automation system may need to be unpaired and reset to factory defaults, for example to be set up to work with a different SAGE Hub. Use the following unpairing procedure for each SAGE device. To unpair your SAGE Doorbell (or Wall Light Switch), power the device off and remove its battery. 3 Press and hold the tiny RESET button near the wires at the top of the doorbell device (or hold the light switch in the ON position) while reinstalling the battery. Continue to hold RESET (or the ON position) until the device s red light begins to blink to show it s in pairing mode. Follow the onscreen instructions to pair the device again. 4

17 To Unpair or Reset Appliance/Lamp Dimming Switch Certain devices in a SAGE Security & Home Automation system may need to be unpaired and reset to factory defaults, for example to be set up to work with a different SAGE Hub. Use the following unpairing procedure for each SAGE device. To unpair your SAGE Appliance Module (or Lamp Dimming Module), unplug the device from power. The small blue light on the module will go out. On the front of the device, press and hold the button while plugging in the device. Once the blue light illuminates, release the button. The blue light will start to blink to show it s in pairing mode. 3 Follow the onscreen instructions to pair the module again. 5
