5 Important Safety Instructions This device has undergone various tests in order to comply with safety standards. Inappropriate use may be dangerous. Please follow the instructions in this guide to ensure your safety during the installation and operation of the device. For safety and proper operation, keep in mind the following factors: It is important that your IVS SDA-904 be properly ventilated. Do not fully enclose the IVS SDA-904 in any type of recess, cabinet, kiosk, hole, nook, or enclosure unless there are fans or a passive thermal exhaust that can constantly bring in new air to replace the trapped air in the space around the outside of the device. Place the IVS SDA-904 in a location free from dust and other particles. Ambient temperature should be between 32 F to 104 F (0 C to +40 C) in a noncondensing environment. With the above factors in mind, please be aware of the following section from your hardware maintenance contract: In the event that Hardware Maintenance is required due to: (i) abuse or mishandling of the Hardware by Customer, or (ii) any environmental conditions where the Hardware is located (dust, moisture, etc.), or (iii) any other technical issues (electrical spikes or the like), or (iv) any other external factors outside the normal operating conditions for the Hardware; then the charges for Maintenance associated therewith shall be paid by Customer. 5
6 Mounting the IVS SDA-904 The IVS SDA-904 includes hardware for installing the unit in a simple wall mount configuration or on the back of a VESA-compliant display. Do not throw away any cables, adapters, or other hardware that you might receive with the product you may need them for future use if you should ever upgrade the IVS SDA-904. (1) IVS SDA-904 Unit (1) Mounting Plate A (for bottom of SDA) (1) Mounting Plate B (for wall or back of display) (4) Small Phillips Flat Head Machine Screws (4) Medium Phillips Flat Head Machine Screws (4) Phillips Pan Head Machine Screws (2) Wireless Antennas (1) Power Supply (1) Power Cord 6
7 Attaching Mounting Plate A to the SDA Mounting Plate A is designed to attach to the bottom side of the IVS SDA-904 and is required when you want to mount the SDA on a wall or on the back of a display device. 1. Turn the SDA upside down and turn the unit around so that the front faces to the left and the back faces to the Mounting Plate A right. 2. Place Mounting Plate A over the bottom side of the SDA with the round rubber feet facing downwards. Insert a small Phillips flat head machine screw into each of the four holes on the mounting plate. 3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn each machine screw clockwise until the mounting plate is secure against the bottom of the SDA. 7 Mounting Plate A Attached to Bottom of SDA
8 Horizontal Wall Mount It is important that your IVS SDA-904 be properly ventilated and placed in a location with the ambient temperature between 32 F to 104 F (0 C to +40 C). See page 5 for specific details. 1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to attach two of the large Phillips pan head machine screws to one end of Mounting Plate B. 2. Align the flat side of Mounting Plate B against the wall area where you want to install the SDA. Allow for at least 9.0 of clearance on the open-ended side of the mounting bracket (i.e., the side opposite to the one on which you installed the large pan head screws). 3. Use four screws (not supplied) to attach the mounting plate to the wall. Allow for 9.0" clearance on the open-ended side of the mounting bracket. 8
9 4. Attach Mounting Plate A to the bottom side of the SDA using the steps on page Turn the SDA so that the Power Button is on the top-right side of the unit and the controls are on the left. This orientation allows the Power Button to be easily accessible from the right side and allows air to circulate freely from the top and sides of the unit. 6. Hold the SDA next to the open end of Mounting Plate B, then slide it sideways so that Mounting Plate A fits snugly within Mounting Plate B. The pan head machine screws that you installed in step 1 will hold the SDA in place and prevent you from sliding the SDA too far within the mounting plate. Controls on Left 9.0" Clearance Power Button on Right Machine Screws 7. (Optional) If you are using wireless communications, attach the two antennas to the connections on the left side of the unit. (Pages 25 and 26 illustrate the space requirements for the antennas when fully extended or bent at a 90 angle.) 8. Refer to the instructions on page 20 to connect the IVS SDA-904. Leave antennas fully extended or bend to 90. 9
10 Vertical Wall Mount It is important that your IVS SDA-904 be properly ventilated and placed in a location with the ambient temperature between 32 F to 104 F (0 C to +40 C). See page 5 for specific details. 1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to attach two of the large Phillips pan head machine screws to one end of Mounting Plate B. 2. Align the flat side of Mounting Plate B against the wall area where you want to install the IVS SDA-904. Allow for at least 9.0 of clearance above the mounting plate before you attach it to the wall. 3. Use four screws (not supplied) to attach the mounting plate to the wall. Allow for 9.0" clearance above the mounting plate 10

See page 5 for specific details. Mounting Plate B is compatible for mounting against the back of a display that has a 75 mm x 75 mm or 100 mm x 100 mm VESA MIS-D hole mount pattern. Use a Phillips screwdriver to attach two of the large Phillips pan head machine screws to one end of Mounting Plate B. 13
14 2. Align the flat side of Mounting Plate B against the back of the display at the location where you want to mount the SDA. You can install the mounting plate in a horizontal or vertical position. Horizontal Mount Vertical Mount 3. Use a Phillips screwdriver and the four medium-sized Phillips flat head machine screws to secure the mounting plate to the back of the display. 15 4. Attach Mounting Plate A to the bottom side of the SDA using the steps on page 7, then continue with step 5a or 5b. 5a. For a horizontal mount, turn the SDA so that the Power Button is on the top-right side of the unit and the controls are on the left. This orientation allows the Power Button to be easily accessible from the right side and allows air to circulate freely from the top and sides of the unit. Hold the SDA next to the open end of Mounting Plate B, then slide it sideways so that Mounting Plate A fits snugly within Mounting Plate B. The pan head machine screws that you installed in step 1 will hold the SDA in place and prevent you from sliding the SDA too far within the mounting plate. 20 Step-by-Step Connections for the IVS SDA-904 Warning: Failure to set up your IVS SDA-904 sequentially according to the steps below may cause configuration difficulties or loss of functionality. Refer to Figure 3 on page 18 for the following connections: 1. Insert a standard Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port (7). 2. Use only one of the following output configurations at a time. - For VGA output, connect the male end of a VGA cable (not supplied) to the female VGA connector at the back of the device (4); connect the other end of the VGA cable to a video connection on the display device. - For HDMI output, connect the male end of an HDMI cable (not supplied) to the HDMI connector (6), then connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI connector on the display device. 3. Connect the female end of the power supply cable to the DC Input (10). 4. Connect the female end of the power cord to the three-prong connection on the power supply. Plug the other end of the power cord into a standard AC outlet. 5. Briefly press the power button (3) on the IVS SDA-904. The SDA welcome message appears on the output screen. Note: The first time you connect your SDA, the message One Moment Please may appear on the video display. Depending on your network, this message might appear for up to one minute. After that time a Welcome screen appears that displays the name of the SDA, its serial number, and the IP address that you'll need to set up your SDA. Use this IP address to access the Web Interface. 6. Refer to the following SDA configuration guide to configure your IVS SDA-904: 20
