Smaller scan files mean greater office productivity The WorkCentre 6400 incorporates advanced compression technology that reduces scan file sizes without affecting image quality. This file-size advantage allows users to create and distribute high-resolution scanned images that contain both text and graphical elements without consuming excessive network bandwidth. When the HP does encounter a job in need of resources, all printing stops until either the necessary resource is loaded or the job is deleted. Users only have the option to delete pending jobs; the does not allow other jobs in the queue to be promoted ahead of the offending job. Robust job queue and Print Around Job queue The WorkCentre 6400 was designed to be shared by workgroups and as such, provides a robust job queue with full visibility of active and completed jobs, including job owner, job name and job status. It also allows users to cancel, hold, promote and delete jobs at will; eliminating frequent trips back and forth to the device by users who are waiting for their jobs to print. Print Around The Xerox Print Around feature is a huge productivity booster that allows queued jobs to print, even if one is held up in need of resources. For example, if a user sends a print job requesting legal-size media and there is none in the paper tray, the WorkCentre 6400 will hold that job and continue printing other jobs in the queue. When legal-size media is later inserted, the held job will be printed. 3 More efficient color touchscreen The WorkCentre 6400 features a bright color touch screen that is easier to use and requires less navigation to accomplish copy, scan and fax tasks than with the HP device. These ease-of-use advantages are carried throughout all WorkCentre 6400 functions, which can lead to huge productivity gains for the office. From the first interaction with the color touch screen, Xerox users will recognize how many more tasks can be accomplished without diving into multiple submenus. More efficient copying With the WorkCentre 6400, 90% of all routine copy adjustments can be made directly from the Copy screen. For example, Xerox users can make a 2-sided copy from the 1st Copy screen whereas HP users must go into another submenu. HP Home screen Although the HP color touch screen is larger than the previous model (CM3530), users are still forced to scroll through multiple pages if they need to perform a task not listed on the main screen. HP Copy screens Users must scroll through 2 pages of copy settings to make adjustments; and unlike the WorkCentre 6400, HP users are forced to navigate to a sub-menu to make simple changes like 2-sided copying.

4 More efficient scanning In addition to having an intuitive touch screen that automates scanning, the WorkCentre 6400 supports scan templates that enable users to scan files to predefined locations. Setup requires little time and effort using CentreWare Internet Services. The HP offers users the QuickSets application which also allows predefined locations for scanning; however, users must first navigate through 8 different steps in the wizard and they might not understand all of the information required to complete the setup. The HP scanning experience is similar to other functions in that users are required to scroll through pages of different options to adjust settings (3 pages for Scan to ). For example, when HP users need to set their Scan to to 2-sided, they must go a level deeper requiring several more touches. The WorkCentre 6400 offers a simple pop-up menu so users can set 2-sided from the same main screen. 5 More efficient printing and faxing Integrated print and fax driver The WorkCentre 6400 employs a single driver for printing and faxing, with the most commonly used features located on the home window. This allows users to easily control their document output and view printer status. And, because LAN faxing is available with the same familiar driver, users can remain productive. In addition, the print driver gives users instant status of supplies as well as links to more information and support. Users know before submitting their job if there s an empty paper tray or if they need to add ink. Superior watermark capability The WorkCentre 6400 print driver includes powerful watermark editing capability, including the use of images. This is a benefit for companies interested in putting their logo on printed output, as well as adding a professional edge to any collateral. This means users will have to go through two separate driver installations and become familiar with two drivers. Also, HP s drivers have many of their features spread amongst several tabs, so users will be accessing several tabs in order to accomplish the same tasks that Xerox can perform with the home window. Finally, HP does not give users visibility of device status in the print driver, so a user doesn t know if any supplies are needed before submitting their job.
