Giving users intuitive and powerful tools to manage their document needs allows their focus to remain on accomplishing their tasks, not worrying about the MFP. The ColorQube 8900 does just that. Smaller scan files mean greater office productivity The ColorQube 8900 incorporates advanced compression technology that reduces scan file sizes without affecting image quality. This filesize advantage allows users to create and distribute high-resolution scanned images that contain both text and graphical elements without consuming excessive network bandwidth. By contrast, the Ricoh device doesn t adequately compress a scanned image, resulting in greater strain on network bandwidth. 2 Robust job queue and Print Around Job queue The ColorQube 8900 was designed to be shared by work groups and as such, provides a robust job queue with full visibility of active and completed jobs, including job owner, job name and job status. It also allows users to cancel, hold, promote and delete jobs at will; eliminating frequent trips back and forth to the device by users who are waiting for their jobs to print. Print Around The Xerox Print Around feature is a huge productivity booster that allows queued jobs to print, even if one is held up in need of resources. For example, if a user sends a print job requesting A5-size media and there is none in the paper tray, the ColorQube 8900 will hold that job and continue printing other jobs in the queue. When A5-size media is later inserted, the held job will be printed. The Ricoh has a job queue, but users don t have visibility of all jobs on the same screen. In order to view submitted print jobs, users must select Job List and then Printer to view pending print jobs the first screen displayed only shows copy & document server jobs. When the Ricoh encounters a job in need of resources, all printing stops until either the necessary resource is loaded or the job is deleted. 3 More intuitive colour touchscreen The ColorQube 8900 features a bright colour touch screen that is easier to use and requires less navigation to accomplish copy, scan and fax tasks than with the Ricoh device. These ease-of-use advantages are carried throughout all ColorQube 8900 functions, which can lead to huge productivity gains for the office. From the first interaction with the colour touch screen, Xerox users will recognise how many more tasks can be accomplished without diving into multiple submenus. More efficient copying With the ColorQube 8900, 90% of all routine copy adjustments can be made directly from the Copy screen. The also allows many typical copy adjustments to be made from the copy screen, but the layout leaves much to be desired. The screen appears very cluttered with small text and features crammed close to each other. 4 Xerox ColorQube 8900 vs. Ricoh More efficient scanning In addition to having an intuitive touchscreen that automates scanning, the ColorQube 8900 supports scan templates that enable users to scan images to predefined locations. Setup requires little time and effort using CentreWare Internet Services. The Ricoh device does not support scan templates. ColorQube 8900 scan templates for predefined workflows. The Ricoh scanning experience is similar to other functions in that users are required to enter submenus to perform routine adjustments to their job. For example, when Ricoh users need to make adjustments to their Scan to such as 2-sided, colour mode or original type, they must go a level deeper this is all accomplished on the same screen with the ColorQube ColorQube 8900 Scan to screen Accessing features on the Ricoh is challenging because features are not available on the main screen.

5 More efficient printing and faxing Integrated print and fax driver The ColorQube 8900 employs a single driver for printing and faxing, with the most commonly used features located on the home window. This allows users to easily control their document output and view printer status. And, because LAN faxing is available with the same familiar driver, users don t need to learn another interface. In addition, the print driver gives users instant status of supplies as well as links to more information and support. Users know before submitting their job if there s an empty paper tray or if they need to add ink. Superior watermark capability The ColorQube 8900 print driver includes powerful watermark editing capability, including the use of images. This is a benefit for companies interested in putting their logo on printed output, as well as adding a professional edge to any collateral. Xerox Watermark Editor By contrast, the Ricoh device requires two separate drivers one for printing and another for LAN faxing. This means users will have to go through two separate driver installations and become familiar with two drivers. And although Ricoh s driver offers One Click Presets, scrolling through all the options under Detailed Settings is time consuming and can lead to user frustration. In addition, Ricoh does not give users visibility of device status in the print driver, so a user doesn t know if any supplies are needed before submitting their job. No messy toner to worry about, no imaging drums, developers, or fusers. This also means there is less to store in your supply cabinet, and you can add ink on the fly. Incredible ease-of-use contributes to your office staying productive; and because there s no need to store big toner cartridges, imagine drums, or fusers, the footprint needed for storage is substantially smaller. Outstanding print quality The ColorQube 8900 produces brilliant, reliable colour prints day in and day out; perfect for both in-house marketing communications and customer proposals. Output from the C300 is over saturated and causes the skin tones to appear splotchy; especially in the area around the gentleman s neck.

7 Colour By Words Our Xerox-exclusive Colour By Words, a powerful-yet-intuitive colour technology, takes the guesswork out of optimizing your colour print jobs. With Colour By Words there is no need to manipulate source files. Users simply select the desired colour modifications from a drop-down list such as pale green colours a lot more green or red colours a lot more saturated and the image is automatically adjusted. 8 Ricoh users are given a very limited set of tools to control colour, with separate settings for text, graphic, and photo objects. The Ricoh driver does not offer anything like Colour By Words, so end users would have to know how to either create a custom profile, or manipulate the options for each object and understand the impact of each of the settings. Low impact colour printing without the waste Colour printing with a Solid Ink machine has a decided advantage when it comes to the waste produced, as well as the supplies needed to be stored. There are no toner cartridges, no fusers or imaging units and less packaging, up to 90% less waste generated compared to comparable colour laser printers. Ricoh users must understand the differences in graphical objects (ie: Graphic vs. Photo) as well as what selecting Presentation, Photographic, CLP Simulation1, CLP Simulation2 does to the printed output not as intuitive as Colour By Words Xerox Corporation.
