1 Vehicle Dock Quick Specification Loud Speaker Dock for Intermec CN50 Front View Back View Introduction The SD-50 vehicle dock provides a simple method to produce outstanding audio from Intermec s CN50 mobile computer in an automotive environment. The audio output is loud enough to be heard over heavy truck noises and can be adjusted quickly and easily with the large side mounted volume adjustment wheel. The SD-50 provides enough power to operate and charge the CN50 terminal and USB or RS-232 connected peripherals at the same time. Power is applied to the dock through a standard power connector that is compatible with many existing Intermec cables and pre-existing field installations. 2 Specification Summary: Software The SD-50 requires that two software drivers be loaded on the user s CN50 mobile computer. The serial driver provides two persistent serial ports to appear on the CN50. The serial ports appear to application programs at all times but are operational only when the CN50 is plugged in to the SD-50. 4 RS-232 Connector Details: The product contains two DB9 male connectors which provide RS-232 DTE communications. These ports are formed internally by using a USB to dual UART IC. In addition, the DB9 connectors supply up to 5.0 V at up to 0.5 A for powering customer products (such as GPS). The pinout for these connectors is shown below. 5 Audio Connector Details: The audio connector is located on the back of the product and provides a method to interface the SD50 to an external in-dash radio via a suitable cable.
