Electric motors can be connected to the mains supply via direct on line, a frequency inverter or a soft start device. A disadvantage for the direct on line connection is that there is a high power consumption on starting and for short periods a demand of up to 7x the rated motor current can be seen as a motor will always demand it s starting current irrespective of load. This situation can also cause excessive mechanical strain on the system and any drive components, often accompanying this is uncontrolled starting and shut-down behavior. Electronic soft starters are a simple and very economical solution to these problems. That said, the NORD SK135E soft starts give far more than simple current limiting starters for electric motors. "3-in-1" The NORD SK 135E combines the 3 functions of a typical electronic motor starter, but are now under the terms of controlled soft start and stop for both forward direction and reverse direction.the SK 135E provides comprehensive monitoring and protective functions (mains / motor/ self-monitoring) and also eliminates the need for any electronic motor protection such as thermistors or thermostats. It enables individual adaptations to the operating characteristics (starting / shut-down behavior) for optimum system performance and additionally offers optional communication interfaces for remote monitoring or control. A special feature is the flexible mounting of the SK135, for confined spaces it has the advantage that the compact device which can be easily mounted on the motor directly or close by using the wall mount option, this may be the best option for pre-existing motors. 4 F 3015 GB
