Through its use of Artesyn technology microserver cards, Artesyn SharpStreamer PCI Express cards and 3rd party PCI Express cards, it offers maximum flexibility, maximum density per rack unit (RU), and unmatched innovation in design for both datacenter and carrier grade applications, reaching video transcoding performance of over p H.64 transcodes per RU. The SharpStreamer 3U platform is unique in its ability to combine CPU-attached PCI Express cards with an extremely flexible communication network between all of the CPUs. Traditional single box server architectures either provide a single multi-core server that can be combined with a small number of PCI Express based I/O cards, or they offer multiple independent server nodes with no or minimal local I/O extension. The SharpStreamer 3U platform supports both architectures while breaking down the individual limits and enabling any combination in-between, and is designed with the most demanding applications in mind through its optimal cooling, accommodation for PCI Express card additional power, and NEBS-ready architecture. As an add-on card, the SharpStreamer PCIE-707 offers quick and scalable integration with existing and standard server architectures to meet the demands of ISPs and MSOs who want to use existing servers and cloud infrastructures to support new video transcoding services, as well as the same technology available on the SharpStreamer 3U architecture ideal for high-density and demanding infrastructure environments. With a focus on the high-density and low power demands of video streaming applications such as OTT streaming servers, mobile network optimization, video conferencing and broadcast equipment, Artesyn employs multiple Intel Core i7 and GPU accelerated devices in a small and scalable PCI Express card footprint that is easily deployable in off-the-shelf platforms. Each SharpStreamer PCIE-707 card is capable of up to 44 streams of 080p H.64 transcodes running complete Transcoder application software. The SharpStreamer 3U platform offers options for customers who either want to develop their own applications or take advantage of video transcoding applicaton software preconfigured on the SharpStreamer platform. Developers can take advantage of the Development Kit comprised of the Intel Media runtime files with Intel HD Graphics fixed-function hardware acceleration, monitoring and processor subsystem O/S and management tools for easy integration with server host processing environments. For service providers and developers who are seeking more, there is a complete application-layer transcoding software package from Vantrix for Live / Linear transcoding and Video on Demand (VoD) which is offered preconfigured on the SharpStreamer 3U platform.

The SharpStreamer 3U Server is designed to maximize density in a small footprint for rapid video processing server deployments. SharpStreamer Hardware Each SharpStreamer PCIE-707 card supports four Intel Core i7 processor subsystems. Each subsystem communicates with the host server over their own Gigabit Ethernet link and supports 8GB of DDR3-600 dual channel memory for a total of 3GB for the entire card. The SharpStreamer PCIE-707 card uses power from both the PCI Express slot and an on-board auxiliary power connector. Each processor s Linux OS includes the Ethernet drive. Host system must have Intel i350 Quad Gigabit Ethernet driver installed for proper communication with card SDK: SharpStreamer SDK comes packaged with Intel Media Development Kit (Intel Media SDK) runtime files. For development purposes must be downloaded and installed on each Intel Core i7 node. Intel Media SDK contains an application programming interface (API) library for developing media applications. The kit makes it easier for developers to optimize their applications with the use of Intel HD Graphics fixed-function hardware acceleration. Some application use cases which can benefit from this acceleration include video processing, transcoding and video conferencing.
