The M is a 6bit value that occupies bytes 2 and 3 of the data field. 2 is the LS (least significant byte) and 3 is the MS (most significant byte). The M starts at x with the measuring cable fully retracted and continues upward to the end of the stroke range stopping at x. This holds true for all ranges. onverting M to Linear Measurement To convert the current measurment count to inches or millimeters, simply divide the count by (total counts over the range) and then multiply that value by the full stroke range: ( current measurement count )X full stroke range Sample onversion: If the full stroke range is 3 inches and the current position is x2 (482 ecimal) then, ( ) X = inches.87 inches If the full stroke range is 625 mm and the current position is x2 (482 ecimal) then, ( ) X = mm 39 mm urrent % of Measurement Range The urrent % of Measurement Range is a 2byte value that expresses the current linear position as a percentage of the entire full stroke range. Resolution is. % of the full stroke measurement range. This value starts at x at the beginning of the stroke and ends at x3e8. Example: Error lags Hex ecimal Percent.%.% 2 2.2% E8.% x55 (yellow LE on controller board) indicates that the sensor has begun to travel beyond the calibrated range of the internal position potentiometer. x (red LE on controller board) indicates that the sensor has moved well beyond the calibrated range of the internal position potentiometer. If either error flag occurs within the full stroke range of the sensor, the unit should be returned to the factory for repair and recalibration. 3 Setting the ddress (Node I) and aud Rate ddress Setting (Node I) aud Rate Nus ontroller oard The ddress Setting (Node I) is set via 6 switches located on the 8pole IP switch found on the evicenet controller board located inside the transducer. The IP switch settings are binary starting with switch number (= 2 ) and ending with switch number 6 (= 2 5 ). The transmission baud rate may be either factory preset at the time of order or set manually at the time of installation.
