4 Asset 4000 v1.0 Installation Guide Page 4 of 11 Mounting Location Selection Care should be taken in selecting the mounting location for the Asset Some considerations for choosing the mounting location are: Ideally the label should be mounted facing down (Towards the ground) such that the top of the unit has a clear view of the sky. Mounting in this orientation provides optimum antenna performance. If the above mounting is not possible the unit may be mounted on the side of the asset but where the top of the unit faces towards the sky as much as possible. The selected mounting surface must not allow water to pool around the device. Care should be taken to avoid damaging wiring, electronics, plumbing, etc, when drilling holes to mount the device. The device should be mounted where it is protected from being impacted during operation. Mounting Hardware PLEASE MAKE SURE THE POWER IS ON BEFORE MOUNTING THE UNIT. SEE PAGE 5 FOR INSTRUCITONS. The following is a list of mounting hardware that may be used with the Asset 4000 Appropriate Mounting Screws- Qty 4. Appropriate Lock-Washers- Qty 4. Appropriate Flat-Washers- Qty 4. User defined hardware may also be used to mount the Device. Option 1: After selecting the proper location for the device, hold the device in position. Use the four screw-hole openings to mark the center points for pre-drilling. Place the device aside and pre-drill with the appropriate drill bit. Insert one of the screws (assembled above) through one of the screw holes in the Device. Partially tighten the Screw into the mounting surface. Repeat this process until all four screws are started into the mounting surface. Now tighten the four screws until they are snug. Tighten the Screws to2.5 in-lb torque. Option 2: The Device can also be mounted using Cable Ties. The screw holes are sized so the Cable Ties can be inserted through them. Figure 4: Mounting wire ties

7 Asset 4000 v1.0 Installation Guide Page 7 of 11 Power Up and Down The button on the underside of the Asset 4000 turns the device on and off. Turn unit ON - RUNNING OFF INTERNAL BATTERY Press and hold the power button for three to five seconds until you see a blinking light. The LED will blink 12 times within a 3 second period if the battery voltage is within its normal voltage range. The LED will then go off. When the light is off, the unit is activated. If the LED blinks once a second the battery should be replaced soon. Turn unit OFF - RUNNING OFF INTERNAL BATTERY Press and hold the power switch, located on the underside of the unit, for three to five seconds. The LED will become solid red then go off. When the light is off, the unit is deactivated. We turned the LED off on purpose to conserve battery power. Also, if someone steals the assets they may not realize that the unit is a tracking device that is working since it does not show any sign of being on. Turn unit ON - RUNNING OFF EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE Press and hold the power button for three to five seconds until you see a blinking light. The LED will blink 12 times within a 3 second period if the battery voltage is within its normal voltage range. The LED will then continue to fast blink as long as an external power source is detected. Turn unit OFF - RUNNING OFF EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE Press and hold the power switch, located on the underside of the unit, for three to five seconds. The LED will become solid red then go off. When the light is off, the unit is deactivated.. Figure 5: LED Indicator and Power Switch Replacing Battery

Disconnect the old battery by grasping the battery cable close to the connector and gently pull sideways 4. Remove the battery from the case.

Insert the Battery into the Bottom Housing Assembly with the cable up and to the right. 2. Connect the new battery by attaching the connector to the battery terminals. 3. 9 Asset 4000 v1.0 Installation Guide Page 9 of 11 SIM Installation The SIM holder is located inside the Asset It is a standard flip-type SIM holder that must be completely closed in order for the SIM card to make a secure connection. 1. Slide the SIM card into the open SIM holder. 2. Make sure the SIM card notch is lined up properly 3. Close the holder, and slide it until it is completely closed. Figure 8: SIM Holder
