6 MASTER CONTROLLER TM Control Resources in Real-time. GridMaestro Master Controller is an industrial computer software system intended to operate a group of power projects and distributed energy resources in real-time, at any given site along with other generation and demand resources. Master Controller handles communication with Utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), Regional Transmission Organization (RTOs), Commercial and Industrial (C&I) as well as others. It distributes load and generation between Energy Storage Units at the site to meet demand and implement stacked services signals to dispatch to Energy Storage Units.
7 Master Controller provides real-time control over your Distributed Energy Resources. READ AND WRITE ENERGY STORAGE UNITS PARAMETERS Power Control System: Controller Gains & Performance Battery Management System: On/Off Status, Charge/Discharge Values Inverters: Current, Power, Frequency, etc. OPTIMIZE STORAGE CAPACITY ALLOCATION IN BETWEEN ENERGY STORAGE UNITS FOR STACKED SERVICES Frequency Response Demand Charge Mitigation Peaking Capacity Energy Arbitrage Energy Storage Demand Response Solar Wind Diesel Local Substation Controls Charging/Discharging Commands Spinning Reserve Renewables Integration Black Start Demand Response MASTER CONTROLLER PROVIDES MULTIPLE HIERARCHICAL CONTROLS Responding to Utility Instructions Processing Alarms Providing Feedback Control for Accurate Set-point Following Regime Shifting Between Stacked Services Statuses or Controls COMMUNICATIONS Site to energy resources and site to Utilities Protocol: Modbus-TCP/IP Standard: MESA Database: Store critical site data Weather Information: Switch control mode depending on weather forecast Energy market: Switch site control mode Depending on energy market prices BUMP LESS TRANSFER BETWEEN CONTROL MODES Site SOC balancing while meeting site power demand Control SOC to a target reference Site SOC & power allocation to meet stacked service demand Site control based on demand trends Robust response to contingence FREQUENCY RESPONSE APPLICATIONS ERCOT FRRS PJM Reg D NGET EFR
8 SSE TM Simulate. Diagnose. Control. Monitor. GridMaestro SSE (Stacked Services Emulator) is designed to emulate performances of Distributed Energy Resources Systems while delivering stacked services. The emulator has the capability to demonstrate these performances with or without storage hardware by using physical mathematical models. This will allow for optimization and improvement of the power projects and Distributed Energy Resources unit/site design. With these systems in place, Alevo Analytics and their customers will have the ability to commission, diagnose, remotely monitor, and control power projects.
