Results can then be corrected and reported for the water content of the sample. EZReporter 4.0 supports the following water content calculations: Saturated: Results are calculated for a water-saturated gas at the base temperature and pressure. 4 Introduction Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Flowing: Results are calculated for a water-saturated gas at a user-specified flowing temperature and pressure. EZReporter uses the Water Content Correlation calculation described in the GPA Standard. As Measured: Results are calculated for a partially water-saturated gas as measured by an external water analyzer. You can enter the water amount for the As Measured calculation using units of either Mole% or Pounds/MMCF. GPA and Repeatability and Reproducibility EZReporter supports GPA and GPA repeatability and reproducibility calculations to compare either two results with each other, or to compare a result with a check standard or reference sample. The GPA 2261 standard is designed for standard natural gas analysis and only defines repeatability and reproducibility criteria for a limited number of components. According to GPA , Repeatability is the expected precision within a laboratory using the same equipment and same analyst. Repeatability is the difference in analyzed values between two sequential runs. Reproducibility is the expected precision when the same method is used by different laboratories using different equipment and different analysts. Reproducibility is the difference between two analyzed values. The repeatability and reproducibility calculations are quite different for GPA vs GPA EZReporter allows you to compare results using both calculations. See Repeatability and Reproducibility on page 43 for more information. GPA Fidelity Plots EZReporter can produce fidelity plots as described in the GPA standard. A Fidelity Plot is a plot of the Log 10 of the Molecular Weight vs the Log 10 of the Response Factor for a series of components. Typically plots are made of C1- nc5, N2-C1-CO2, and ic4-ic5-c6+, although there can be other valid series. The plots of these series should be linear. Significant non-linearity, outliers, or changes in slope for a particular series may indicate a problem with the calibration/reference standard or the GC method or calibration. Important: It is highly recommended that you review the GPA standard for background information on creating and using fidelity plots to evaluate the quality of your gas chromatography reference standards and calibrations. See Fidelity Report Settings on page 30 for information on setting up Fidelity Reports, and Fidelity Report Results on page 34 for information on using Fidelity Reports. 12 Natural Gas Liquids Module Overview The EZReporter Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Module is designed to perform standard Natural Gas Liquids extended analysis and reporting based on the GPA and GPA (and related) standards. The results from these calculations are available for reporting, monitoring, trend plotting, and exporting. Extended Analysis Calculation Methods There are several different methods defined in the GPA and GPA methods to calculate extended (Hexanes Plus) analysis results. EZReporter 4.0 supports the following calculation methods: Separate: The TCD and FID extended analysis results are each calculated and reported separately. The TCD results, including C6+, are used to generate the total sample results, while the FID results are used to generate the average extended fraction results. The Hexanes Plus physical constants in the component configuration are used to calculate the C6+ contribution to the total sample results. Combined/Bridging: The TCD and FID extended analysis results are combined into a common report with the option of applying bridge factors to normalize the relative response from each detector. The C6+ results in the total sample report are derived from the individual combined FID extended component calculated results. 6 Introduction Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Allocation: The individual FID extended component amounts are first adjusted so that the total FID C6+ amount is equal to the total TCD C6+ amount. The C6+ results in the total sample report are then derived from the individual combined FID extended component calculated results. Results Calculated for Extended Fractions The following average results are calculated for the extended fraction: Gross Heating Value (BTU / ideal cu. ft.) Gross Heating Value (BTU / lbm) Gross Heating Value (BTU / gal.) Average Molecular Weight Vapor Pressure (psia or psig) Liquid Density (lbm / gal. and lbm / bbl) Relative Liquid Density Gas Density (lbm / cu.ft.) Volume (cu.ft. / gal.) API Gravity Additional Extended Fractions Typically the extended fraction is based on C6+ components. However, with EZReporter s flexible configuration editor you can define the extended fraction to include whatever component range is needed. In addition, you can also define additional extended fractions to report alongside the C6+. NGL / Extended Fraction Report Results When NGL / C6+ extended fraction reporting is enabled, two additional tabs are available in the Sample Results view: The Total Components report, and the C6+ Components Report. Total Components Report The total components report lists all of the components in both the normal and extended fraction and their normalized amounts in Mole%, Weight%, and Liquid Volume%. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Introduction 7
C6+ Components Report The C6+ Components Report displays the components in the extended fraction only, and lists their raw amount, their normalized amounts in the total sample, and their normalized amounts in the C6+ extended fraction. 8 Introduction Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules

Configuration Editor Configuration Editor Overview All of the settings that are used to define the calculations, customize the report format, and determine what actions are performed when processing results are defined within the configuration file. The configuration editor is used to modify those settings. The configuration editor can be opened either by clicking the Edit Configuration toolbar button or the Tools > Edit Configuration menu option. Important: Only the settings that pertain to natural gas analysis and natural gas liquids/extended analysis are documented in this section. Please refer to the EZReporter 4.0 Reference Manual for information on the other program functions and settings. The configuration editor uses a navigation bar located on the left side of the window to choose the settings to edit. The navigation bar is divided into several groups, General Settings, Report Settings, and if you have one of the optional modules activated you will also see Natural Gas Analysis or Results Database. Click on the button at the bottom of the navigation bar to select the options for that particular group of settings, and then click on the desired option in the list to display the settings you want to edit. Once you are done editing the settings make sure to click the Save or Save As button to save your changes. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 13
Component Settings The Components Settings panel of the configuration dialog is used to manage the list of components that will be included in the calculations and report. It also contains all of the component physical properties used in NGA/NGL calculations. You can either edit the component properties directly by clicking in the specific cell in the table, or you can click the Std Components button to select from a list of standard components and their physical properties. Physical Constants Each default configuration file template is based on a set of standard physical properties usually GPA Standard , or ISO Standard 6976 (2016). It is your responsibility to review the component physical properties to make sure that they are correct for your application. See Configuration Templates on page 47 for a list of the NGA and NGL default configuration templates that ship with EZReporter. Important: For standard GPA calculations, the physical properties should be ideal gas properties at 60 Degrees F and psia. Entering physical properties determined at different temperatures or pressures will result in incorrect calculations. Standard Components Click the Std. Components button on the Components tab of the configuration editor to display a table of standard components and their physical properties. You can use the Data Source list box to display tables of standard physical properties from different data sources. These data sources currently include the GPA , GPA , and Standards; the extended component list from the GPSA Engineering Data Book (12 Edition, 2004); the GPA TP-17 physical property tables; the ASTM D (2003) and D Standards; and the ISO 6976 (1995) and (2016) Standards. NOTE: The GPA Standard combines the GPA 2145, TP-17, and GPSA Engineering Data Book physical properties into one data source. 14 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Important: Physical properties for Hexanes Plus in the standard components are calculated assuming a 60:30:10 mixture of hexane, heptane, and octane. If you want to use physical properties based on a different composition, you can either enter those constants manually into the component configuration, or you can use the Create Combined Component function described in the Context Menu description on page 15 After checking the components you want to use to add/update your configuration, click the Transfer button to transfer them to the component table. If a component with the same name already exists in the component list, its physical properties will be updated to those from the table. If there is no matching component with the same name, then the Unknown Component dialog box will be displayed. See Unknown Component Dialog Box on page 17 for details. Context Menu If you right click the cursor anywhere in the standard components table, the following context menu options will pop up: Find Component: This option allows you to find a component in the table by its name or alias. The spelling must be exact, but capitalization doesn t matter. Edit Component Aliases: Edit the alias names for the specified component. See Standard Component Aliases on page 18. Generate Alias Report: Generate an Alias Report for the selected data source. See Generate Alias Report on page 19. Select all components: Check all of the components in the displayed standard component table. Select no components: Uncheck all of the components in the displayed standard component table. Select matching components: Check the components in the displayed standard component table whose name matches a component name or alias in the component table of the current configuration. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 15
Create Combined Component: Use this option to create a set of physical properties that are a combination of the properties from 2 or more components in the standard component table. For example, you can use this feature to create the physical constants to use for the Hexanes Plus component. First, check the components you want to combine. In this example, we have selected n-hexane, n-heptane, and n- Octane. Next, right click on the table and choose, Create combined component You can choose to combine the physical constants from the selected components by averaging or by using weighting factors. If you choose Weighted Properties, you must enter the percentage of each component s properties to include in the final combined properties. In this example, we have entered 60%, 30%, and 10% for the three components. The Combined Component Name is the name of the new component that will be added to your component table with the combined properties, or if a component already exists with that name, its properties will be updated with the combined properties. Validate Component Constants: Generate a validation report that compares the physical constants for each component in your configuration with the corresponding constants in the selected data source defined. See Validate Component Constants on page 19. Copy Highlighted Rows to Clipboard: Copy the highlighted rows to the Windows clipboard so they can be pasted into Microsoft Excel or other program. Physical Property Transfer Options When you click the Transfer button or create a combined component, the following dialog box will be displayed allowing you to select which physical property data to transfer from the selected data source to the current configuration. When you have chosen the desired properties, click the Transfer button to begin the transfer. 16 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Important: Only check Force Standard Component Name if you need the names in your component table to match the standard names form the data source. Changing component names can interfere with the identification of the corresponding component results from your chromatography data system. Unknown Component Dialog Box If any of the standard components you selected to transfer were not found in the component table of your configuration, the Component Not Found window will be displayed for each: You can choose from the following options: Option 1: Append the specified standard component to the component table in your configuration as a new component. If you choose this option, and you know that all of the remaining missing components should also be appended as new components, then you can check the Apply to ALL remaining missing components checkbox. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 17
Option 2: Copy the physical properties from the standard component to one of the existing components in your configuration. If you choose this option, you can also choose to add the name of the existing component as an alias to the specified standard component. IMPORTANT: Make sure that you choose the correct existing component from your component table. Otherwise, you will update the physical properties for the wrong component. Clicking the Cancel button will skip the current standard component, and clicking Abort will skip all remaining unknown components. Standard Component Aliases Several standard component names were changed in GPA from previous revisions of GPA 2145, TP-17, and the GPSA Engineering Data Book. EZReporter 4.0 has added an Alias functionality that allows you to define alias or 18 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
synonym names for each of the standard components in a data source. This allows EZReporter to recognize components with alternate names in your configuration component table. To add an alias name to one of the standard components in a data source, either right click the standard component in the table and select Edit Component Aliases from the popup menu, or select the component and enter Ctrl+E from the keyboard. The Edit Component Aliases window will be displayed: NOTE: EZReporter ships with alias names already defined for several of the standard components in the GPA (FPS) data source. You can modify these aliases or add your own by clicking the Add button and entering the desired alias. Alias names are not case sensitive, however, they must match the spelling (including any spaces) exactly. IMPORTANT: A particular alias name can only be defined for one standard component in a particular data source. If your computer has Internet access, you can click the Search button to look up the standard component name at the NIH PubChem Open Chemistry Database to help you identify appropriate synonyms. Generate Alias Report You can generate a report containing a list of all the standard components in the selected data source (GPA in this case) and any alias/synonym names that have been defined by right-clicking the standard component table, and selecting Generate Alias Report from the popup menu. Validate Component Constants You can perform a validation check, which compares the physical constants for each component in your configuration with the corresponding constants in the NGA data source defined for the configuration. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 19
Right click the component table and select Validate Component Constants from the popup menu. Each component in the configuration component table will be compared to a component with the same name or matching alias name in the data source. A validation report file is displayed showing the Components Passing Validation (all constants match), the Components Failing Validation, (one or more constants don't match - the constants that failed are listed for each component), and Components Not Found in Data Source. A detailed table of the comparison is also included. For components and parameters that failed the validation, the detail will display, [20293 <> 0], where the value on the left is from the configuration and the value on the right is the standard value from the data source. NOTE: The report file is a tab-delimited text file, so it may be easiest to open it in Microsoft Excel to examine the detailed results. Configuring the EZReporter Component List It is unlikely that the component list included in the default configuration that you chose will meet the needs of your application exactly. Fortunately, the component list can be modified easily. To customize the component list you must first open the EZReporter configuration editor by clicking the Tools > Edit Configuration menu. If the Components tab isn t already displayed, click that tab to display the component table. Component Naming Requirements The two most important things to remember when configuring the EZReporter component list are: 1. The component names used in the peak/calibration table and reports from the gas chromatography data system must match the spelling of the component names in the EZReporter component table. For example, if carbon dioxide is reported as Carbon Dioxide by the chromatography data system, it must also be listed in the EZReporter component table as Carbon Dioxide or carbon dioxide, not as CO2. 2. The component names in EZReporter component table must all be unique. If you need to have multiple components with the same name, then append a numeric suffix or other unique character to the component name. For example, for the Extended Combined/Bridging calculation (see Combined/Bridging on page 40), the i-pentane and n-pentane from the extended FID detector channel are entered into the component table as i-pentane* and n-pentane* to differentiate them from the same components reported from the standard TCD detector channel. You could also use numeric suffixes like, Nonanes1, Nonanes2, Nonanes3, etc. Deleting Components It is unlikely that you will need all of the extended components that are included in the default configuration. To delete a component from the component list you simply select the desired row in the component table and either click the Delete button, or right-click on the row and select the Delete selected component from the pop-up menu that is 20 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
displayed. If you delete one of the standard range components (C1-C6+, N2, CO2, Etc.) then you will need to edit the Last Standard Component setting in the NGL/C6+ Configuration. Renaming Components As described above, it is important that the component names in the EZReporter component table match the component names reported by the chromatography data system. To change the spelling of a component in the EZReporter component table, simple double-click on the desired component name and enter the new spelling. Duplicating Components If you want to duplicate an existing component, including all of its physical properties, simply select the row containing the component and the right click on the row and select Clone selected component below. The selected component will be duplicated in the row immediately below. Because component names must be unique, the cloned version of the component will have a * appended to the component name (or multiple * characters to ensure that the name is unique). You are free to rename the duplicated component as long as it is still a unique name. If you add a new component to the standard component range (C1-C6+, N2, CO2, Etc.) then you may need to need to edit multiple settings in the NGL/C6+ Configuration, including the Last Standard Component, and First Extended Component, etc. Changing the Component Order You can change the order of the components if necessary. However, it is important that the components maintain the following relative order: The standard components (C1-C6+, N2, CO2, etc.) should be located at the top of the component table. The order that they are listed in the table is the order that they will appear in the report. The relative order of these components is not important with the following exceptions for NGL/extended analysis methods. For NGL/Extended analysis methods with bridging, if you change the location of the bridge components (usually ic5 and nc5) or the combined component (usually C6+), then you may need to edit the NGL/C6+ configuration so that the correct components are selected for those settings. See Combined/Bridging on page 40. In addition, the bridge components for the extended fraction must be placed between the last standard component and the first extended component so that they are not included in the calculations and report (see the screen capture below). Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 21
Finally, all of the extended fraction components should be listed at the bottom of the component table below the last component in the total report and extended fraction bridge components if they are present. The relative order of the extended components is not important. Natural Gas Analysis Settings The Natural Gas Analysis configuration group provides access to the NGA and NGL specific settings. This option is available when the software is running in 30-day trial mode, or if you have activated a license that includes the NGA or NGL modules. 22 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
NGA Configuration The NGA Configuration panel allows you to specify additional calculation factors, specify the concentration units for the raw component amounts, and enable a prompt for the flowing temperature and pressure. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 23
NGA Base Data Source The physical property data source used as the basis for the physical properties in the configuration is displayed. The data source is set correctly in all of the default configuration templates. However if you are loading an older configuration file, you will need to manually identify the correct data source by clicking the Edit button. The following window will be displayed for you to select the data source: Important: Your selection is not validated in any way. If you want to be sure that the physical properties in your configuration are from the selected data source, then click the Transfer check boxes and update the physical properties of all your components with values from the selected data source. 24 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Base Temperature For all GPA standard calculations and ISO 6976 (1995) standard calculations, the base temperature is determined by the data source you are using and cannot be changed. It is displayed for informational purposes only. For GPA standard calculations, the base temperature is fixed at 60 degrees F. Combustion and Metering Temperature For ISO 6976 (2016) standard calculations, the Base Temperature is replaced by separate Combustion and Metering temperature settings. You can change these temperatures to one that is supported by the ISO 6976 (2016) standard by selecting the desired temperature from the drop-down list that is displayed when you click the temperature: Note: when you change the Metering Temperature, the Compression Factor of Air and Water Vapor Pressure will be changed automatically to the correct values for that temperature. Similarly, when you change the Combustion Temperature, the Enthalpy of Vaporization of Water will be changed to the correct value for that temperature. Base Pressure Enter the base pressure in psia to use for the calculations. The calculated results will be corrected to reflect their values at the specified base pressure. Note: All of the default configuration templates that ship with the EZReporter software use a base pressure of either or psia ( psia for the configuration templates that derive from a GPA or ASTM standard, and psia for NGA Default.cfgt and C6+ Default.cfg ). It is the customer s responsibility to determine the correct base pressure to use for their specific requirements. Note that the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) specifies a standard base pressure of psia. Consequently many companies are adopting as the standard base pressure for these calculations. ISO Configurations all use a base/reference pressure of kpa. Air Summation Factor The air summation factor is used in the calculation of the real relative density. The current value of this property as specified in GPA Standard is and in GPA Standard is Compression Factor of Air The compression factor of air is displayed when the ISO 6976 (2016) data source is selected. This setting is dependent on the selected Metering Temperature. If you change the Metering Temperature, it will be updated to the correct value for that temperature automatically. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 25
Molar Mass of Air The molar mass of air as specified in GPA Standard is and is used in the calculation of relative gas density. Universal Gas Constant The universal / molar gas constant, R, is defined in GPA Standard as psia ft 3 / lbmol R. Cu. Ft. / lb mol of Gas This setting is the number of cubic feet of volume occupied by one lb. mol. of an ideal gas at psia and 60 degrees F. It is used to calculate the Cu. Ft. Vapor/Gallon of Liquefied Product. The default value of is taken from GPA Standard / Water Vapor Pressure The vapor pressure of water at 60 Deg. F is defined in GPA Standard as psia. For ISO 6976 (2016) calculations, the water vapor pressure is dependent on the selected Metering Temperature. If you change the Metering Temperature, it will be updated automatically to the correct value for that temperature. Important: The calculation of saturated results based on the water vapor pressure at the specified metering temperature and pressure is not specified in the ISO 6976 (2016) standard. These calculations are provided as a courtesy to our customers. Enthalpy of Vaporization of Water This setting is only displayed if you have selected the ISO 6976 (2016) data source. It is used to convert Gross Calorific Value to Net Calorific Value. Prompt for Flowing Temperature and Pressure If you check this option, then the Manual Data Entry window will be displayed when processing or reprocessing results, allowing you to enter a flowing temperature and pressure. Those values will be displayed in the report and can be exported to text files. Important: If you enable water calculations and report Flowing results, then this option is checked automatically and can t be disabled. See Water Calculations on page 28 for more information. 26 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Raw Component Amount Units Select whether your GC results are calibrated and reported using Mole Percent, Weight Percent, or Liquid Volume Percent units. If your chromatography data system reports component raw amounts as Weight%, then EZReporter will calculate the corresponding component Mole% from the Weight%. Similarly, if your chromatography data system reports component raw amounts as Mole% or Volume%, then EZReporter will calculate the other normalized amounts. ISO Oxygen/Air Correction This correction assumes that any oxygen present in the sample is from air contamination. The Nitrogen Mole% is corrected using one of three equations: 1) ISO Equation 1: (for nitrogen analysis performed on a Molsieve 13X column): N2 = N2-78/21 * O2 2) ISO Equation 2: (for nitrogen analysis performed on a Porapak R column): N2 = N2-100/21 * O2 (only valid for O2 < 0.02%) 3) Custom Calculation: enter a custom calculation factor for the formula: N2 = N2 - Factor * O2 The component mole% values are re-normalized using the corrected N2 Mole% and excluding O2. This feature is currently only available when raw component amounts are in units of Mole%. You must specify the Oxygen and Nitrogen components and select the desired correction formula. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 27
Water Calculations Natural Gas Analysis calculations are initially performed on a Dry basis. Results can then be corrected and reported for the water content of the sample. Important: Water calculations are intended for Natural Gas Analysis, and require the raw amount units to be Mole% (see Raw Component Amount Units on page 27). If the raw amount units are set to Weight% or Liquid Volume% for Natural Gas Liquids / extended or other kinds of analysis, then the water calculations will be disabled. Check Enable water content calculations and reporting if you want to report results corrected for water content. 28 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Water Component In order to calculate results that are corrected for the water content of the sample, water must be present as a component in the component table. Select the water component name from the list box (it will usually be Water ). If water is not present in the component table, then click Add/Update to add water and its physical properties from one of the standard data sources (usually GPA ): Water Reporting Options You can choose to report results corrected for the following water content: Saturated: Results are calculated for a water-saturated gas at the base temperature and pressure. Flowing: Results are calculated for a water-saturated gas at a user-specified flowing temperature and pressure. EZReporter uses the Water Content Correlation calculation described in the GPA Standard. If you choose this option, you will be prompted to enter a flowing temperature and pressure when processing results. As Measured: Results are calculated for a partially water-saturated gas as measured by an external water analyzer. You can enter the water amount for the As Measured calculation using units of either Mole% or Pounds/MMCF. If you choose this option, you will need to enter the water concentration in the specified units when processing results. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 29
Water Results Additional columns will be added to the EZReporter results summary to report each of the selected water content calculations. Fidelity Report Settings The Fidelity Report panel of the Natural Gas Analysis settings allows you to enable and configure GPA Fidelity Plot(s) and Fidelity Report. Important: It is highly recommended that you review the GPA standard for background information on creating and using fidelity plots to evaluate the quality of your gas chromatography reference standards and calibrations. A Fidelity Plot is a plot of the Log 10 of the Molecular Weight vs the Log 10 of the Response Factor for a series of components. Typically plots are made of C1-nC5, N2-C1-CO2, and ic4-ic4-c6+, although there can be other valid series. The fidelity plots of these series should be linear. If you have 3 or more components defined in the series, then a linear regression is used to calculate the slope and intercept of the line, and also a correlation coefficient (R 2 ) and Standard Error of Regression. If there are only two components defined in a series, then the slope and intercept can be calculated between those two points, but neither the correlation coefficient nor the standard error can be calculated. Notes: 30 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
1. EZReporter calculates the response factor as the Raw Amount / Peak Area as reported by the chromatography data system. 2. If the molecular weight or response factor of a component is 0, then that component is excluded from the report since the Log(0) is infinity. Fidelity Report Control Enable Fidelity Report Check Enable Fidelity Report if you would like to have a Fidelity Report generated when processing results. Sample Name Filter By default, a Fidelity Report will be generated for every sample that is processed. However, you can create a filter based on the sample name to restrict the Fidelity Report to certain types of samples, like calibration or validation samples. The following options are available for filtering: All Samples: If you leave the filter text blank, then the Fidelity Report will be generated for all samples regardless of the condition you have selected in the drop-down list box. Equals: If you select the Equals condition, then the Fidelity Report will only be generated if the Sample Name matches the filter text exactly (differences in capitalization are ignored). Contains: If you select the Contains condition, then the Fidelity Report will only be generated if the Sample Name contains the filter text (differences in capitalization are ignored). Starts With: If you select the Starts With condition, then the Fidelity Report will only be generated if the Sample Name starts with the filter text (differences in capitalization are ignored). Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 31
Ends With: If you select the Ends With condition, then the Fidelity Report will only be generated if the Sample Name ends with the filter text (differences in capitalization are ignored). Is Like: The Is Like condition allows you to use pattern matching to match each character in the Sample Name against a specific character, a wildcard character, a character list, or a character range in the filter text. The following table shows the characters allowed in pattern and what they match.? Any single character * Zero or more characters # Any single digit (0 9) Add or Edit Fidelity Plot Series To create a Fidelity Plot, you must add at least one component series to the configuration. To do this, click the Add button, and then enter a Series Label, which will be displayed in the plot legend and the Fidelity Plot Results table to identify the series. You can optionally change the line color and point symbol for the line. Finally, you must select (check) the components you want to include in this series. Click Save when you are done, and repeat if you wish to add more series to the plot. You can edit existing series by selecting the series in the Fidelity Plot Series table, and then click the Edit button. 32 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Fidelity Report Options The following options allow you to customize the contents and behavior of the Fidelity Report. Include Fidelity Report when printing NGA/NGL report: If you check this option, then the Fidelity Report will be appended to the NGA/NGL report when printing or saving the report. Add NGA/NGL Sample Information table to report header: If you check this option, then the Sample Information table from the NGA/NGL report will be added to the Fidelity Report. Include Fidelity Plot Results table in report: If you check this option, then the Fidelity Plot results table will be included in the Fidelity Report. Include Fidelity Plot data table in report: If you check this option, then the Fidelity Plot data table will be included in the Fidelity Report. Include component Channel ID in Fidelity Plot data table: If you check this option, then the Channel ID for each component will be displayed in the Fidelity Plot data table. Note: The Channel ID is only available for component results from selected chromatography data systems. Include component Amount and Area in Fidelity Plot data table: If you check this option, then the component raw amount and peak area will be displayed in the Fidelity Plot data table. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 33
Fidelity Plot % of Page Height: You can make the size of the Fidelity Plot in the printed report either larger or smaller by changing this percentage. Fidelity Report Titles You can add a Title and Sub-title to the printed/saved Fidelity Report and also select the font that will be used in the report. Note: You can include variables in the Title and Subtitle fields, which will be replaced by the actual values from the sample report. These are the same variables used in export templates (with the exception of some of the control variables). A few examples are shown in the table below: {SampleName} {Now} {InjectionTime} {Instrument} The Sample Name/ID from the report The current Date/Time The date and time of the injection as reported by the data system. The name of the instrument used for acquisition as reported by the data system. Fidelity Plot Labels These are the labels displayed on the Fidelity Plot for the Plot Title, and X-Axis and Y-Axis. Fidelity Report Results The Fidelity Report results are displayed on a tab on the left side of main EZReporter window when the Sample Results are displayed: 34 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Fidelity Plot The fidelity plot contains the individual points and calculated regression lines for each of the series plotted as the Log 10 of the Molecular Weight vs the Log 10 of the Response Factor. Notes: 1. You can identify individual points on the plot by placing the tip of the cursor directly over the point. The component name for that point in the series will be displayed. 2. You can zoom into and out of the plot by left-clicking at the upper left of the region you want to zoom into, and then dragging the zoom rectangle to the lower right of the desired region. To un-zoom, simply double click anywhere in the plot area. 3. You can drag the plot area to display a different section of a zoomed plot by right clicking anywhere in the plot window and dragging the plot to the desired location. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 35
Fidelity Plot Results Table The Plot Results table shows the results of the linear regression performed on each series. It includes the correlation coefficient (r2), Standard Error, Slope, and Intercept. Notes: 1. If there are less than 3 valid components in a series, then r2 and Std. Error cannot be determined. In this case a - will be displayed for those values. If there are 2 valid components in the series, then the slope and intercept are determined by calculating a straight line between the two points. 2. If either the molecular weight (MW) or response factor (RF) is 0 for any component, then that component will be excluded from the fidelity plot since Log(0) is infinity. 3. You can copy the contents of the results table to the Windows clipboard by selecting the desired rows and columns, and then right-click the table. Select, Copy Selection to Clipboard from the pop-up menu. Fidelity Plot Data Table The Fidelity Plot Data table includes all of the components included in one or more of the series, along with their molecular weight (MW), response factor (RF), the Log 10 of the Molecular Weight, and Log 10 of the Response Factor. You can also optionally choose to display the raw amount and peak area used to calculate the response factor, and the Channel ID if you are using a chromatography data system that provides the channel id. Notes: 1. You can copy the contents of the data table to the Windows clipboard by selecting the desired rows and columns, and then right-click the table. Select, Copy Selection to Clipboard from the pop-up menu. Print or Save the Fidelity Report Click the Print button to print he current Fidelity Report to the default printer, or click Save As to save the report as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file or other supported file formats. NGL C6+ Extended Configuration If you have licensed the Natural Gas Liquids module, the NGL C6+ / Extended Configuration option will be available to set up the extended report. NGL extended fraction reporting is based on the GPA 2186 (and related) standards. NGL / Extended reports are more complicated to configure, so it is usually easiest to start with one of the default configuration templates. See NGL/Extended Analysis Templates on page 49 for a list of NGL templates to choose as a starting point. Those templates contain the full list of GPA and TP-17 components and corresponding physical property values. You can edit the resulting configuration file to remove the components you don t need. 36 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Extended Report Control The Report Control panel allows you to enable extended fraction calculations and reporting, and modify the default behavior of how some results are displayed. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 37
Include extended components in sample results component table Normally, the extended fraction components are not included in the sample results component table. Instead, the extended fraction totals are included in the Hexanes Plus (C6+) component. However, if you would like to have the extended components reported in the main report, you can check, Included extended components in sample results component table. If you want to exclude the C6+ component when you are including the extended components, then you can click, Hide C6+ in component results. Extended Fraction Report Format These two options determine how the extended fraction results will be displayed on the printed report relative to the total sample results. If you choose Report extended fraction results separately from total results, then the extended fraction results will be appended to the results table below the sample results. If you choose, Link extended fraction results to corresponding total results, then the extended fraction results will be displayed in additional columns to the right of the corresponding total sample results. Extended Calculations These options are used to define the components that will be included in the standard/total report, and the components that will be included in the extended fraction report. 38 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Last Component in TCD Total Report: Select the last component to include in the total sample report. This will usually be Hexanes Plus (C6+). First Component in FID/Extended Report: Select the first component in the extended (C6+) fraction. This will usually be 2,2-Dimethylbutane. Note that all components after this component in the component list will be included in the extended fraction calculations and report. C6+ Combined Component: For Combined/Bridging calculations, this is the component that will be used to combine the results from each of the extended components. This will usually be Hexanes Plus (C6+). Extended Report Calculation Method There are several different methods defined in the GPA and GPA standards to calculate extended (Hexanes Plus) analysis results. EZReporter 4.0 supports the following calculation methods: GPA Allocation The individual FID extended component amounts are first adjusted so that the total FID C6+ amount is equal to the total TCD C6+ amount. The C6+ results in the total sample report are then derived from the individual combined FID extended component calculated results. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 39
Separate The TCD and FID extended analysis results are each calculated and reported separately. The TCD results, including C6+, are used to generate the total sample results, while the FID results are used to generate the average extended fraction results. The Hexanes Plus physical constants in the component configuration table are used to calculate the C6+ contribution to the total sample results. Enable Hybrid Report: If you check this option the extended fraction results will be used as the physical constants for C6+ in the total sample calculations in place of the Hexanes Plus constants in the component table. For example, the Average Molecular Weight calculated for the extended fraction components will be used as the molecular weight constant for the C6+ component in the total sample. Combined/Bridging The TCD and FID extended analysis results are combined into a common report with the option of applying bridge factors to normalize the relative response from each detector. The C6+ results in the total sample report are derived from the individual combined FID extended component calculated results. 40 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Enable Bridging: If you check this option, then bridging factors will be calculated based on the settings below, and used to correct the raw amount of the components before using them in subsequent calculations. If this option is not checked, then the raw amounts will be used as reported by the chromatography data system. Apply Correction To: You can choose to apply the bridging factor to either FID/Extended components, or the TCD/Total components. Bridge Factor Components: The bridge factor is calculated from one or two components that are present in both the TCD and FID results. Usually i-pentane and n-pentane are used. Important: in order EZReporter to differentiate the bridging components in the TCD results from those in the FID results, you should name those components differently in your GC method and EZReporter configuration. For example, you can use n-pentane and nc5, or in the example shown above, n-pentane and n-pentane*. Extended Report Format The Report Format tab allows you to enable and customize both the Total Components Report (see Total Components Report on page 7, and C6+ Components Report (see C6+ Components Report on page 8). Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 41
Additional Fractions The Additional Fractions table allows you to define additional extended fraction ranges that can be calculated and reported in addition to the normal C6+ fraction. To define an additional extended fraction, click the Add button to define the name/caption of an extended fraction, and then select the components to include in the extended fraction. If you want to include the additional extended fraction in the printed report, make sure to check, Include in Report. Make sure to check the Save button to save the extended fraction settings. You can use right-click context menu options to assist with selecting large extended component ranges. 1. You can ctrl-click and/or shift-click to select the desired list of components and then right click and choose Check all selected components from the context menu. You can also Uncheck all selected components. 2. You can right click a component and then select Check all remaining components from the context menu to check all components below the selected component in the table. Similarly, you can choose to Uncheck all remaining components. 3. You can uncheck all components by selecting Uncheck all components from the context menu. Additional Fraction Report The additional fractions will be included in an additional column in the total/summary results table. Note that the report format shown below with the Total, C6+, and C5+ results side-by-side is created by selecting the Link extended fraction results option in the Extended Report Control tab. See Extended Fraction Report Format on page Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Repeatability and Reproducibility Important: the following functionality requires a license for the Results Database Module in addition to an NGA or NGL Module. Please refer to the Results Database Module documentation for information on how to add results to the database and retrieve them for comparison. EZReporter supports GPA and GPA repeatability and reproducibility calculations to compare either two results with each other, or to compare a result with a check standard or reference sample. Component Properties for Repeatability and Reproducibility The properties required to calculate GPA /GPA Repeatability and Reproducibility are contained in the component table of the following default configuration templates: C6+ Default.cfgt NGA Default.cfgt If you want to add these properties to an existing configuration file, see Standard Components on page 14 for instructions on how to transfer these properties from the GPA data source to your component configuration. Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules Configuration Editor 43
Compare Two Results To compare two results using the GPA 2261 repeatability or reproducibility criteria you must first retrieve both results from the Results Database (see the Results Database Module documentation). Check the Select checkbox for the two results you want to compare. Next, click the Compare Results button: You can choose to use GPA or GPA method and compare the results using either the repeatability or reproducibility criteria. The software calculates the repeatability/reproducibility and lower and upper limits for Result 1, and then sets the Pass/Fail status based on whether Result 2 falls within those limits. You can click the Swap button to change which result us used to calculate the limits. 44 Configuration Editor Diablo EZReporter 4.0 NGA and NGL Modules
Repeatability or Reproducibility Report You can print a Repeatability or Reproducibility report by clicking the Print button.
