3 Background Profile Why is Training Necessary? The Company ICS Triplex, a Rockwell Automation company has been manufacturing and supplying safety critical shutdown and control systems since The introduction of Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) systems incorporating Hardware Implemented Fault Tolerance (HIFT) began with the Regent product family, which was released in Over the years, the technologies that ICS Triplex developed have been field-proven in hundreds of installations worldwide. Continuous commitment to research and development led to the introduction of Trusted in 1997 and AADvance in In 2007 ICS Triplex was purchased by Rockwell Automation, a provider of power, control and information systems and services. The joining of these two companies has increased the portfolio of products and services and the capability to provide customers with single integrated plant-wide automation solutions that can be tailored specifically to the customers needs. The ICS Triplex brand of products are inherently reliable and as such will normally provide little opportunity to exercise maintenance skills. If problems occur, production may be adversely affected, unless suitably trained personnel are available. Training provides all personnel with the necessary skills required to perform their responsibilities efficiently and effectively. Training can be provided to maximise the benefits to personnel in engineering, maintenance and production. Training for the ICS Triplex Product Range Rockwell Automation offers scheduled and customised training throughout the year. The training programme contains two standard courses for Trusted and three for AADvance products covering: Comprehensive System Training Operation Maintenance & Each course is designed to give the participant an understanding of the products and their applications, enabling them to put what they learn into use. Project-Specific Training Project Training courses can be aligned specifically to your needs. Our flexibility allows courses to be offered in a number of different languages. Courses can be offered in locations worldwide at Rockwell Automation offices, customer premises or on-site. Customised overview courses are also available. The Products Trusted In 1997, a next-generation safety and control TMR product family named Trusted was introduced. Building upon the proven technologies of the Regent and Regent+Plus product families and incorporating state-of-the-art microprocessors and leading edge electronic technologies, the Trusted system represents a breakthrough in performance capabilities for TMR based safety critical control systems. Compatibility with legacy, Regent and Regent+Plus systems are built into all the Trusted products allowing customers a direct migration path for existing systems. Trusted uses application programs written and monitored using the Trusted IEC1131 Toolset. This supports a variety of communications configurations, including Networked Systems, OPC, MODBUS, Peer to Peer Links controlled and monitored using both Engineering and Operator Workstations. AADvance AADvance is the next step in automation advancement, offering customers an even greater level of choice, flexibility and scaleability from their safety and critical control system. The AADvance solution is a truly distributed, scaleable architecture which comprises of both a hardware controller and a software environment that allows the user to specify the level of reliability and availability they need throughout their plant. AADvance offers a high level of flexibility from small quantity I/O to large systems; non-safety to SIL-3, and fail-safe to multiple fault tolerant. The single greatest threat to safety remains human error and the AADvance environment reduces that risk. Users can control and update their plant-wide safety management system from a single AADvance workstation, running several projects from that station while the controllers distributed throughout the plant communicate intuitively, vastly reducing time spent updating individual terminals and the margin for human error. 4 5

This course provides an overview of Trusted hardware, software, and troubleshooting. The course consists of a mixture of lecture and hands-on lessons. This course is targeted towards personnel responsible for designing, building, programming & troubleshooting the Trusted systems. A general knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). A background in industrial electronic control principles and practices. A level of competence using Microsoft Windows operating systems and programs. Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: Understand how Trusted operates as a fault tolerant controller. Examine process I/O requirements and select the appropriate hardware. Design and assemble a complete system. Use the IEC1131 Toolset and System Configurator to configure the system. Configure communications with external devices (DCS, Operator Interface, Host Computer, etc.). Develop application programs using standard IEC61131 programmable languages. Download and upload programs. Utilise off-line simulation and on-line debug facilities. Make online programming changes. Print system documentation. Set up password security and access levels. Make hardware expansions to an existing system. Isolate faults to the module level by interpreting automatic fault indications. Utilise diagnostic utilities to identify faults. This course provides an accelerated review of AADvance hardware, software, and troubleshooting. The course consists of a mixture of lecture and hands-on lessons. This course is targeted at experienced system engineers and specialist system integrators responsible for designing, building, programming and troubleshooting an AADvance system. Experienced in engineering systems for critical control and safety solutions, with a broad knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). A background in industrial process control principles, practices and compliance with national and international standards This course is an accelerated version of T9063. Upon successful completion, the student should be able to: Understand how AADvance operates as a fail-safe or fault tolerant controller. 9 Additional Information Course Conditions The number of delegates attending the training course is limited to eight unless otherwise pre-arranged. Wherever possible changes will be accommodated, providing at least five full working days notice is given and both parties agree the changes.
