2 Acceptance measurements: EN although the standard does not insist on acceptance measurements, it nevertheless recommends them: Tests should be performed in the following cases... DIN EN : Testing of transmission lines and cabling paths with optical fibers The standards in the EN series do not demand any tests to determine conformity with requirements relating to transmission properties and performance. Tests should be performed in the following cases: a) Assessment of cabling to determine its ability to support a specified group of network applications; b) Confirmation of the performance of cabling dimensioned in compliance with the example implementations set out in the standard using cables, connection systems and cords that conform to the various component-specific sections of the applicable standard from the EN series. The test procedures for transmission lines and cabling paths using optical fibers are set out in EN

3 Acceptance measurements: EN DIN EN (VDE ): ; EN : A1: Documentation of the installed cabling The documentation of the installed cabling and the recording of the measurement results must be compatible with the intended management system as indicated in the specification for the installation (see ) Requires the drafting of a quality plan which must include a procedure for the acceptance of the cabling components. The quality plan must be agreed with the building owner or his representative before the start of the installation work. More specifically, the quality plan must define the procedures: b) for the acceptance of the cabling components and the installed cabling (including verification of the physical, mechanical, optical and/or electrical specifications based on the manufacturers' or suppliers' specifications or relevant standards); Acceptance of cabling components Procedures that are specifically indicated in the quality plan must be applied in order to ensure that the employed components conform to the specifications. Acceptance measurements in accordance with EN and/or ISO/IEC also include inspection and cleaning of front connector surfaces before the measurement increases CAPEX 3

4 Inspection and cleaning of front connector surfaces during operation EN "Data centre facilities and infrastructure" Part 2-4 "Telecommunications cabling infrastructure" DIN EN (VDE ): EN : Optical fiber cabling To maintain the performance of plug-in optical fiber connections and to prevent damage to the surface of the plug-in connectors both at the cabling and at the devices, the front surfaces of the plug-in connectors must be inspected for loose contaminants, which must be eliminated before the connection is established. EN specifies devices for this inspection; IEC/TR defines the cleaning procedures that may be necessary.
