5 System Upgrades Opening the Server Removing the Top Cover Loosen the two thumbscrews () on the rear panel. Push the cover toward the rear and lift () (3) off from the chassis. 3 Note: Before opening the Top Cover and replace any components, please first turn off the system and unplug the power cord to avoid any malfunction of the system. 6 Installing the Top Cover Slide the top cover toward the front () until it is closed. Tigthen the two thumbscrews () on the rear panel. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 6
7 Installing and Removing HDDs For HDDs Middle-Plane MiniSAS HDD HDDs Middle-Plane MiniSAS cable connection Disconnect the minisas cable () from the HDD. Disconnect the minisas cable () from the mainboard. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 7
8 Removing the Middle-Plane MiniSAS HDD with carrier Remove the HDD carrier. () Push the HDD carrier latch () to release the lever. () Swing open the lever () and pull out the carrier (3) from the chassis. 3 Remove the four screws from the HDD carrier () and remove the HDD () from the carrier. 9 Installing the Middle-Plane MiniSAS HDD with carrier Slide the HDD into the carrier () and secure the HDD to the carrier with four screws (). Install the HDD carrier. () Slide the HDD carrier all the way into the drive bay. () Close the HDD carrier lever and push the HDD carrier until it locks into place. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 9
10 For.5-inch HDD.5-inch HDD SATA cable connection Disconnect the SATA cable () from the HDD. Disconnect the SATA cable () from the mainboard. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 0
11 Removing the.5-inch HDD Remove the top cover (see Installing the Top Cover on Page ). Remove the HDD bracket. () Remove the three screws () that secure the.5-inch HDD bracket to the chassis. () Pull up the.5-inch HDD bracket until you see the HDD power and data cables. (3) Disconnects the power and data cables () from the HDD. 3 Remove the four screws from the HDD bracket () and remove the HDD () from the carrier. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual
12 Installing the.5-inch HDD Slide the HDD into the bracket () and secure the HDD to the bracket with four screws (). Install the HDD bracket. () Connect the data and power cables () to the HDD. () Install the HDD with bracket () into the chassis. (3) Use three screws () to secure the HDD bracket to the chassis. (4) Install the top cover (see Installing the Top Cover on Page ). 13 Replacing a System Fan Fan module and connector locations 3 4 Fan Fan Fan3 Fan Connectors Fan4 Note: To remove Fan, first you have to remove the Fan, Fan3 and Fan4, because all fan cables are routed beneath. Removing the fan module Remove the top cover (see Removing the Top Cover on Page 5). Disconnect the fan cable connector (). Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 3
14 3 Pull up the fan module () and remove Fan4 from the fan bracket. Note: To remove Fan, first you have to remove the Fan, Fan3 and Fan4, because all fan cables are routed beneath. Installing a fan module Insert the fan module () into the fan bracket. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 4

16 Replacing a PDB case Removing the PDB case Before releasing the PDB case from the chassis, you have to pull both PSU out from the PSU case. Before unsecure the cables, let s look at their locations first. P6 P4 P P3 P P7 P5 Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 6
17 3 Release the P7, P5 cables from the connector. P7 P5 4 Release the P6, P4 cables from the connector. P6 P4 5 Release the P from the connectors. P Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 7
18 6 Release the P3 cable from the connectors. P3 7 Release the P cable from the connectors. P 8 Unsecure the screws on top of the PDB case. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 8
19 9 Remove the PDB case from the chassis now. Installing the PDB To install the PDB, first, place the PDB case back to the chassis as shown. Secure the PCB case with screw. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 9

22 Replacing a Power Supply Unit Removing the Power Supply Unit To remove the power supply unit, please press the blue lever toward left side. Pull the PSU out horizontally to remove the PSU. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual
23 Installing the Power Supply Unit To install the power supply unit, push the new PSU into the chassis horizontally. When the PSU is approaching the chassis, please press the blue lever () to the left and push the PSU to the end. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 3
24 The replacement of SAS Raid Card Remove the SAS Raid Card Remove the bezel of the expansion slot with screwdriver. Pull the SAS Raid card off the chassis. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 4
25 Install the SAS Raid Card 3 To install the SAS Raid card, just insert the SAS Raid card with balanced strength. 4 Tighten the screw of the SAS Raid card to complete the installation. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 5
26 The replacement of LAN card Remove the LAN card Remove the bezel of the expansion slot with screwdriver. Pull the LAN card off the chassis. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 6
27 Install the LAN card 3 To install the LAN card, just insert the LAN card with balanced strength. 4 Tighten the screw of the LAN card to complete the installation. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 7
28 Replacing the Backplane Remove the top cover (see Removing the Top Cover on Page 5). Remove all 3.5 inch hard drives from the hard drives cages. 3 Remove eight screws () from the top of the backplane cover. Remove two screws () each from edge of the backplane cover. Save the screws for reinstallation later. 4 Remove the three screws that secure the backplane bracket to the chassis. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 8
29 5 Disconnect all power cables and minisas cable from the backplane. 6 Remove the four screws that secure the backplane bracket to the chassis. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 9
30 7 Push the backplane with bracket slightly toward the rear and pull it up. 8 Remove the twelve screws () from the backplane board and detach the board () from the bracket. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 30
31 Reinstalling the Backplane Position the backplane board into the bracket (). Secure the board into place using twelve screws (). Insert the backplane with bracket in its slot as shown and push it slightly toward the front until it locks into place. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 3
32 3 Secure the backplane bracket to the chassis using four screws. 4 Secure the three screws back to the backplane bracket that attaching to the chassis. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 3
33 5 Insert all power cables and minisas cable to the backplane.. 6 Position the small front top cover over the chassis and gently lower it into place. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 33
34 7 Secure the small front top cover to the top of the chassis using eight screws (). Secure the small front top cover to the sides of the chassis using four screws (). 8 Install the top cover (see Installing the Top Cover on Page 6). Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 34
35 Replacing the Mainboard Remove the top cover (see Removing the Top Cover on Page 5). Remove the anti-static pvc cover. Removing the minisas card Disconnect the minisas cable () from the board. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 35
36 3 Gently lift the minisas card from the slot. Removing the Memory Modules Open the locking clips () that secures the memory modules. Gently pull the DIMM upward () to pull it away from the chassis. 3 Repeat Steps & to remove additional memory modules. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 36
37 Removing the Heat Sink Assembly Use a phillips screwdriver to loosen the four screws on the heat sink as shown below. Lift the heat sink away from the mainboard. 3 Repeat Steps & to remove the other heat sink assembly. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 37
38 Removing the Processor IMPORTANT: Before removing the processor from the mainboard, make sure to create a backup file of all important data. Release and pull up the load lever. 3 Flip open the processor cover. 3 Pull out the processor from the socket. 4 Repeat Steps ~ 3 to remove the other processor. 39 Disconnect the fan cables from its mainboard connectors. 3 Disconnect the power button/led, SATA & front I/O cables from its mainboard connectors. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 39
40 4 Remove the nine screws that secure the mainboard to the chassis. 5 Slide the board toward the front of the server () and gently tilt the board () until you can lift it away from the chassis. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 40
41 Reinstalling the Mainboard Insert the board and gently lower it into the chassis (). Slide the board toward the rear of the server () until the I/O ports extrude from their port holes. Make sure the screw holes on the mainboard are aligned with those on the chassis. Secure the mainboard with nine screws. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 4
42 3 Connect the power button/led, SATA & front I/O cables to its mainboard connectors. 4 Connect the fan cables to its mainboard connectors. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 4
43 5 Connect the power supply cables to its mainboard connectors. Installing the Processor Align the slots on the processor with the socket and make sure that it is properly oriented. 3 Press the processor into place () and pull the cover () over it. 3 Push the load lever downward (3) until it locks into place. 4 Repeat Steps ~ 3 to install the other processor. 44 Installing the Heat Sink Assembly Position the heat sink assembly on top of the processor, making sure the screws are aligned with the screw holes on the mainboard. Secure the heat sink assembly to the mainboard using four screws. 3 Repeat Steps & to install the other heat sink assembly. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 44
45 Installing the Memory Modules Insert the memory module into the DIMM slot () and then press it down until it clicks into place (). If additional memory modules are available, install it in the other DIMM slots by repeating Step. Installing the SAS Raid Card Insert the SAS Raid Card into the PCIe x6 slot and secure it in place. 46 Secure the SAS Raid Card bracket using one screw. Insert the SAS Raid Card cable until it locks into place. Closing the Server Position the anti-static cover into place. Install the top cover (see Installing the Top Cover on page 6). Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 46
47 Rack Installation Procedure If it is your first time to install the server to the rack, please kindly pay attention to the procedures below for safety concern. Removal of Wiwynn SV30 from Rack If the system is powered on, please press the power/log button to shutdown the system. Press the power/log button for about 5 seconds, the LED light will turn Purple as shown. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 47
48 After that, go to the back panel of the server, and start removing the cables. 3 Start with the power cable. 4 Then, unplug the network cable from the back panel. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 48
49 5 Finally, unplug the monitor cable (If you have connected your server to a monitor). 6 Now, you can pull the server out of the rack. Wiwynn SV30 Maintenance User Manual 49
50 Installation of Wiwynn SV30 to the Rack Lift up the new server and then push it horizontally into the designated rack as shown. Push the machine into the rack until it is securely placed on the rack. 3 Plug in all necessary cables one by one.
