4 CE Compliance This product meets the essential requirements of applicable European Directives as follows: 2006/95/EC; Low-Voltage Directive 2004/108/EC; Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive Product Environmental Compliance Alma Automotive complies with all laws and regulations regarding material declaration and the elimination of chemical and hazardous substances used in products and manufacturing. This includes: RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) REACH (European Union on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) Lead-Free (lead free production cycle) Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment At the end of the product life cycle, all products must be sent to a WEEE recycling center. 5 General Description: The ALMA 10201/401 modules are O2 UEGO Sensor simulation modules for NI-SLSC. The modules provide 2 or 4 isolated simulated sensors interface. The simulated O2 UEGO channels provide a complete simulation of the sensor. Both the pumping cell and the reference cell electrical characteristics are integrated in a single simulation. The channel to channel isolation allows to connect multiple UEGO controllers to the single card without grounding and interference issues. The target pumping current and temperature are set via SLSC communication bus or analog voltage values. UEGO Sensor Equivalent Circuit All the Wideband Oxygen Sensors (Zirconia based) share the same equivalent circuit. These are based on a couple of electrochemical cells: Pump Cell: controlled by the Ipump (IP) generated by the controller Nernst Cell: reference cell, used to check the actual value of O2 concentration. The Nernst Cell equivalent resistor (Rs) is used to estimate the sensor temperature. The UEGO controller will set an IP value to reach the correct Reference Voltage value. The Heater resistor is used to warm up the sensor. REV. 1.2 PAGE 5 / 30

6 The sensor behaviour will be characterized by two relations: Note: graphs relating IP and λ value and Temperature and Rs are merely examples. The actual relations vary from a sensor model to another. UEGO Sensor Simulator Equivalent Circuit Each sensor simulator channel could be schematized with a galvanically isolated block. All the signals within the isolated block are referred to the virtual ground of the sensor (IP- Vs- Signal). The control logic receives the target IP and the target Rs as an information from the automation system. The externally generated IP is read, and a reference voltage output is generated accordingly to the virtual sensor model within the control logic. The heater pins are read through a photocoupler interface by the virtual sensor. The simulator will send back information about the actual IP and the heater control duty cycle and frequency, as status information. REV. 1.2 PAGE 6 / 30

7 Rcal pin is left disconnected. The simulated sensor is based on an ideal model; thus, it never requires to be calibrated. Note: diagram only. It shows a single sensor simulator, each simulator is galvanically isolated from the others. Note: the number of sensor simulators per module vary from 2 (model ALMA-10201) to 4 (model ALMA-10401). XJ1 is the SLSC Interface connector, the SLSC Chassis controls all the modules via XJ1 connections. This is a reserved connector. XJ2 connector is the RTI (Rear Transition Interface) connector.
