4 ckground Started in 25 June, 2013 by Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda, the Tripartite Infrastructure Initiative was formed as a framework to co-operate and speed up regional integration. Was renamed Northern Corrido Integration Projects (NCIP) with the inclusion of South Sudan. The Republic of Ethiopia and the D. R. Congo joined the NCIP in December Heads of State Summitshave taken place since June 2013, demonstrating the highest level commitment to fast track regional integration

7 ajor projects he ICT Cluster has developed various initiatives/projects under the llowing sub-clusters: ICT policy Harmonization of policy & legislation regimes etc One Area Network Infrastructure (Broadband); Cyber Security E-Services Postal Services

8 e Network Area initiative Voice and SMS within the Northern Corridor region have been capped to 10 and 6 US Cents maximum.-> Costs in the region have reduced by over 60% Tremendous growth of traffic over 400% (both incoming and outgoing) in all partner states.

9 ross-border Border Mobile Financial Services Already cross-border Mobile Financial Services is currently taking place between Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda E.g MTN, Safaricom and several other Telecom operators have made it possible to subscribers to make cross-border payments On going efforts to drive complete cross national & regional payments

10 ber Security Collaboration A MoU was signed between Partner States to collaborate in maters related to cyber security The collaboration will focus on : Curbing cyber crimeissues Development of a Regional Public Key Infrastructure Development of a Regional Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT)

11 Services Regional strategy on E-services developed on priority projects that seeks to attain cross-border services provisioning Projects include: National ID Integration e-soko e-tourism e-taxes and e-customs National ID Integration

Objective: To facilitate the increase of accessibility, affordability, availability, reliability and usage of Broadband services throughout the region as a means to foster socioeconomic development

Attain 70% of regional traffic through a regional exchange point(s) by 2017 Develop and implement regional BB network security framework by 2017 Increase device penetration by a minimum of 50% by 2018 Connect 70% of schools, health care and government institutions by 2019 Have50%ofcitizenstobedigitallyliterateby20200 Attain 50% reduction of broadband end user cost by2018andtoatleast5%gniby2020
