7 What is Auto Image Replication? Automatic copying of individual backup images between independent NetBackup domains Extends the SLP model beyond the borders of a single NetBackup domain Allows selective replication of critical backup data Changes the game in off-site data protection by introducing a continuous process: Automatically sends backups off-site electronically No need to ship tapes to a DR site Images available on demand at the target site No time consuming catalog recovery No complex DR fire drills Allows different retentions to be applied in source and target domains but ensures a minimum off site retention Addresses long term compliance issues as well as site DR 7

21 Remote Sites - Project Scope Problem to Solve: Our current backup strategy is operationally very expensive, critical data is not readily available in a DR event and there is a lack of centralized reporting adhering to a global standard Value Proposition: Create a global backup solution that reduces operational expense, provides backup and replication of all critical data. The new environment will also strengthen our IT services recovery plans with replication and provide centralized reporting 21

26 AIR in Motion Oct. 2011, Storm wiped out power to Mfg. site in Bloomfield, CT. Site was without power for 10 days Mfg. site in East Hanover, NJ is dependent upon critical PDM system located at Bloomfield Bloomfield and East Hanover are Replication Sister Sites 26
